JYJ have spoken up regarding the recent decision made by the FTC.
On the 24th of July, the Fair Trade Commission (hereafter known as the FTC) has ordered SM Entertainment and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Arts Industries (hereafter known as the KFPCAI), a coalition of 12 pop culture related organizations, to rectify their actions of interfering with JYJâs broadcasted appearances and activities as singers.
Regarding this, C-JeS Entertainmentâs CEO Baek Chang Joo stated, âWe would like to thank the FTC for conducting such a transparent investigation for the past three years to eradicate unlawful actions in the industry, collecting evidence of SM Entertainment and principal agents in the culture industry, such as the KFPCAI, unilaterally and systematically interfering with JYJâs broadcasted appearances.â
CEO Baek Chang Joo welcomed the FTCâs verdict as he stated, âThe investigation gave irrefutable evidence that SM Entertainment had violated the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act by abusing their monopolistic and superior leverage in the entertainment industry to disadvantage those who have different opinions multiple times. We believe that the FTCâs recent order to rectify such actions will shed light on the tyranny of super powers in the industry who go against the innovative economy policies of the current government.â
He also stated, âThe development of our nationâs entertainment industry, signified by the Hallyu Wave, will only take place if the creativity and diversity of every participant is respected and guaranteed. This means that we must no longer be swept up in the despotism of the few super powers in the industry. If the Hallyu waves develops henceforth on the basis of a lawful mould, starting with todayâs ârectification orderâ, we believe that this will be an opportunity to leap forth into the world again.â
CEO Baek Chang Joo added, âAlthough JYJâs legal dispute with their former agency was concluded in April, JYJ still suffered from unlawful external pressure. Including the unilateral notification they received from their album distribution company recently, it is an undeniable fact that JYJ have unlawfully been restricted from appearing on music programs, even when they release albums. This is an embarrassing truth in our society today. But if policies and institutions continue to be the foundation of change, as they were today, we believe that JYJ will be able to perform on a fair stage in the future.â
JYJ stated, âWe would like to thank the FTC for their decision. Though it feels as though we have been locked in a hard battle since 2009 and are walking in an endless desert, todayâs verdict gave us strength to keep going as it showed that the situation is slowly changing for the better. We hope that the FTCâs verdict will allow us to freely pursue activities in the entertainment industry and stand on a fair stage in front of the public. We also hope that such roads are also opened for our juniors as well.â
They continued to add, âAlthough a long and dark tunnel still lies ahead of us, we saw a strand of light in the far distance flash by our eyes. We will continue to walk towards that light, and we will always do our best to repay everyone with great performances and activities.â
Meanwhile, the FTC charged SM and the KFPCAI for interfering with JYJâs activities in the entertainment industry when the group released their first album in October, 2010 after filing for independence from SM due to issues regarding an unlawful contract.
Regarding the FTCâs verdict, SM Entertainment stated, âIt is unfortunate that such a verdict was made, although there was no evidence to prove that such interference had taken place. SM is currently reviewing the option of pursuing legal action against this latest decision.â

The Fair Trade Commission has laid down the verdict that SM Entertainment and others should not interfere with JYJâs activities in the entertainment industry.
On the 24th of July, the Fair Trade Commission (hereafter known as the FTC) has given former agency SM Entertainment and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industries (hereafter known as the KFPCAI) an order of prohibition for interfering with JYJâs broadcasted appearances and activities as singers. JYJ is a group created by Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu, who were initially part of the 5-member idol group TVXQ and left the group in 2009 due to problems surrounding unlawful clauses in their exclusive contract.
The FTC stated, âJYJ released their first album in October of 2010 and tried to resume their activities as singers, but SM and the KFPCAI interfered with their activities in the entertainment industry by releasing an official notice that asked those in the industry to refrain from inviting or allowing JYJ to appear on televised programs, and from distributing their albums and online music files. The official notice was released through the KFPCAI and sent to 26 licensees in the industry, including the 3 major broadcasting companies, 6 K-pop and entertainment news related cable companies, and many album and online music file distribution companies.â
They continued to explain, âConsidering the leverage that SM Entertainment has as one of the three biggest entertainment agencies in Korea, as well as the specific nature of the KFPCAI as an organization in the entertainment industry, the official notice that was released placed a considerable amount of pressure on the recipients,â and âThough JYJ have album sales of over 90,000 copies, they have had their activities as singers restricted in Korea, in ways such as not being able to appear on music programs or variety shows.â
To this, the FTC gave an order to prohibit SM Entertainment and the KFPCAI from pursuing any actions that interfere with JYJâs activities. They have also ordered the KFPCAI to notify the 12 business associations in the organization, as well as the 26 licensees who received the official notice, of the corrective measures that have taken place.
The FTC also stated, âThis incident is significant as it has prohibited a large-scale entertainment agency from using its influence and working with a business organization to prohibit the activities of celebrities currently locked in a legal dispute with the agency,â and âWe hope that this verdict will shed light on similar unlawful actions that may be taking place in the industry.â

(Jaejoong, 12:56am KST)Â Confidence isnât something that suddenly appears one day when you grit your teeth and make a decision. Itâs something that comes naturally when you strengthen the capacities of your inner self. The strange thing is, the more you strengthen your inner self, the more confident you become, and the softer and humbler you become as well.

JYJâs Junsu (XIA) has topped the overall daily chart at Japan Tower Records with his second full-length album, âIncredible.â
In addition, he ranked at number two after Japanese group NEWS on the overall weekly chart (July 15-July 21). He also placed first on the weekly K-Pop chart.
A source close to Junsu stated, âJunsuâs album ranked number one on Tower Recordsâ overall pre-order rankings before the release, which raised the anticipation of Japanese fans. It is amazing that Junsu was able to rank first and second without being able to do album promotions, surpassing other Japanese artists.
Junsu moves on with his solo Asia tour from Thailand on July 28 to Shanghai, Seoul August 3-4, and Busan August 10-11.

JYJâs Kim Junsu opens his âIncredibleâ Asia Tour in Bangkok, Thailand
âJunsu! Junsu! Junsu!â
On the 20th, the 3,000 fans gathered at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand shouted these two syllables âJunsuâ as loud as they could.
When the lights darkened and the instrumental of his last album âTarantallegraâ began playing, their shouts only intensified, switching quickly to âHey! Hey!â to go along with the song.
Although the song was in Korean, a language that is quite foreign to them, the fans followed along with the cheers to greet the nightâs star to their country.
This set the scene for JYJ Kim Junsu (26)âs first concert in Bangkok, Thailand for his second Asia Tour âIncredibleâ.
Fans held picket signs that read âXIA Daebak (Big Hit)â, handed out by local fansites such as âJYJ Boxâ and âCoconut Xiaâ, and packed the venue. A sea of red rises up and down as fans hold red fanlights, JYJâs color.
What stuck out was the fact that the concert venue was filled with teens, middle-aged parents with their children, and Koreans living in Thailand.
The dayâs concert was the first event since the singerâs âIncredibleâ showcase on the 15th.
After greeting his fans in Thai with a âSawadikap (Hello)â, Kim Junsu said, âIâve decided to kick off my tour with songs from my first and second album. Thailand has more passion than any other place I know. Iâll go all the way today.â
With a video that showed him shyly admitting his feelings to someone, he returned to the stage with a pink suit on to perform âIâm Confessing To You Right Now, Okay?â, âChocolate Girlâ, that has a sound as sweet as its name, and âNo Reasonâ, which featured an erotic performance with the female dancers on a sofa.
Though there werenât any âeye-poppingâ special effects, Kim Junsu filled the stage with ballads that showcased his amazing vocal talents with âDonât Goâ and â11 oâclockâ.
Fans didnât let a single moment pass them by, whether Kim Junsu was drinking water, or had his veins popping on his neck as he sang the soulful âRainy Eyesâ, or was wiping the sweat off himself with a towel.
Fans could also hear the singer perform familiar drama OSTs such as âLove is like a Snowflakeâ from âNice Guyâ, and âFoolish Heartâ from âChunmyungâ.
At his fansâ request, Kim Junsu sang the âGwiyomi (Cutie) Songâ, starting with â1 plus 1 is Gwiyomiâ and also performed Ayakaâs âMinna Sorano Shitaâ and Song Joong Kiâs âNice Guyâ OST âReallyâ without an instrumental, which was met with thunderous applause from the crowd.
The short videos that had been prepared in between the performances were another sight to see. The road that âSinger Kim Junsuâ has walked down was shown through pictures from his childhood and trainee days, and Thai subtitles ensured that the fans would be able to understand the video. When a kiss scene with an actress appeared on the screen, fans would be heard screaming âNO~â from even the very back of the crowd.
The atmosphere of the concert was at its climax during the last song of the night, âIncredibleâ, which also happens to be the title song of the singerâs second album.
Kim Junsu ran up to the front of the âIâ-shape stage and had both hands in the air as he got his fans to join along. All his fans stood up and shook their fanlights as they danced to the music. Some even left their seats and ran up to the fence in front of the stage to get a closer look.
Mrs. Apapat (48), who attended the concert with her daughter Tataraphun (20), said, âBoth of us really like Junsu,â and âMy daughter says she likes him because he sings so well, and I like him because he always does his best and works hard, which makes him a great role model for my daughter. Like how we came to this concert together, Junsu has bettered our relationship and increased the amount of conversations we share.â
Kim Junsu will move on to Shanghai, China on the 28th, and then move on to perform in Seoul and Busan.
âI opened my Asia tour last year in Bangkok as well, and I think Iâve finished on a high with a lot of energy. I received so much energy and strength from the audience today. I will work hard to continue that âunlimited energyâ that I received today in the other countries I visit.â

On their world tour, TVXQ have performed in LA, USA, Santiago, Chile, and now Shanghai, China.
TVXQ held their âTVXQ! LIVE WORLD TOUR âCATCH MEâ in SHANGHAIâ concert at 7:30pm at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China. They captivated 10,000 fans with an amazing performance and great stage sets.
On this day, TVXQ performed a total of 25 songs, including hits like âCatch Meâ, âHumanoidsâ, âRisingâ, Why? Keep Your Head Downâ, and âMiroticâ, as well as solo performances by U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin of âHoney Funny Bunnyâ and the Chinese ballad âTing Hai (č˝ćľˇ)â respectively.
Fans in the audience held pearl-red fanlights and sang along in Korean, enjoying the performance to the fullest and even prepared a paper slogan event that said âTVXQ! Letâs Flyâ, touching TVXQ and making the atmosphere of the concert better than ever.
There was fierce competition at the arena to grab last-minute tickets on the day of the concerts, and countless fans flocked to the area to take their chance. As they rushed towards the entry gate, the door at the gate broke, requiring the presence of public safety officials to sort things out.
Meanwhile, TVXQ have now successfully completed their Shanghai performance and are set to become the first non-Japanese singers to perform at Japanâs Nissan Stadium on the 17th and 18th of August. These two performances will conclude their large-scale Japanese tour that is expected to attract a total of 850,000 people.
