[Trans] 130226 ChannelA’s Anchor Park Jong Jin Apologizes For His Comments About JYJ During The Inauguration
ChannelA released an official apology regarding the comments that were made against JYJ (Park Yoochun, Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu) during their performance at the 18th Presidential Inauguration.
A representative of ChannelA stated to Star News on the 26th that, “Anchor Park Jong Jin, who was in charge of the live broadcast of the 18th Presidential Inauguration, made an official apology during his program ‘Park Jong Jin’s Cutting the Gordian Knot’ regarding the comments he made during JYJ’s performance,” and “He was in no way trying to denigrate them.”
According to the representative, Anchor Park apologized to JYJ and their fans during his show on the 25th after the controversy began over his comments.
On this day, Anchor Park stated, “I used the term ‘karaoke room’ in my commentary because I thought that the stage itself wasn’t backing them (JYJ) up properly,” and “I meant it to say that the inauguration stage was small and confined, and I was in no way trying to denigrate JYJ.”
Ahead of this, Anchor Park Jong Jin commented on JYJ with Reporter Lee Hyun Soo during the live broadcast of President Park Geun Hae’s inauguration ceremony on the 25th in Yeoido, and these comments soon led to a controversy amongst fans as being belittling statements.
Reporter Lee Hyun Soo said, “You don’t know much about JYJ, do you?” and “They’re the ones who dropped out of TVXQ..” while Anchor Park said, “Seeing them like this instead of under the bright lights of the concert stage makes it feel like they’re singing in a karaoke room.”
Meanwhile, ChannelA also released an explanation on Reporter Lee Hyun Soo’s comments. ChannelA stated that the reporter had meant to describe the group as ‘the group that separated from TVXQ’ and ended up saying ‘They’re the ones who dropped out of TVXQ’. They continued to state that the reporter had meant no harm when she made the statement.
