NEWS Junsu and Ok Juhyun Both Cast in Elisabeth, Draw Anticipation

[News] Junsu and Ok Juhyun Both Cast in Elisabeth, Draw Anticipation

Ok Juhyun and Kim Junsu who are being recognized as musical actors from idol stars have become cast in the musical Elisabeth. The two are heightening the anticipation for the large-theater musical Elisabeth that will draw its curtains in the coming February by being cast as Elisabeth and Death.

The musical Elisabeth is a re-interpretation of the story of the real-life empress of Austria Elisabeth and her death. This musical begins with the counterargument from Lucheni who is undergoing a trial of 100 years with the charge that he has murdered the empress. He argues that “the Empress loved death” and the story of the life and death of Elisabeth unfold.

Ok Juhyun takes the role of the lead Elisabeth and transforms into the tragic empress who is trapped within the royal halls and dreams of a free life and love. The musical actress Kin Sunyoung has been double-cast in the same role. Kim Junsu appears as the character that personifies death. He falls in fateful love with Elisabeth and endlessly tempts her. Ryu Junghan and Song Changwee have been triple-cast in the same role.

The production company EMK Musical Company said: “It has not been confirmed as to whether Ok Juhyun and Kim Junsu will stand on the same stage together. We plan to decide as to which actors appear together for all actors after mediating their schedules.”

Elisabeth first played in Vienna in 1992 and has since been performed in nations all around the world, and in Korea this is the first performance. The playwrights Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze who showed Mozart! to Korea have this as one of their other representative works. The directing will be taken by Robert Johansson of the performance Hamlet.

For the role of Franz Joseph who loved Elisabeth only for all of his life, Yun Youngsuk and Min Youngki have been cast. For the narrator Lucheni, Kim Suyong, Choi Minchul and Park Euntae have taken the role and plan to act with enthusiasm.

The performance will take place from February 9 to May 13 in the Blue Square of Hannandong, Seoul.

110802 Poseidon Casts Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young

Poseidon Casts Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young
by: javabeans on Aug 2, 2011

Never mind, I’m back on the “Poseidon” train. Er, boat?

I pretty much thought this show was a sinking ship (and, okay, it still could be), but now it’s gone and cast Choi Siwon (“Athena”) and Lee Shi Young (“Playful Kiss”), and now I can’t help but be suckered back in.

The show has been floundering for a while now, struggling to cast even after getting a second shot at airing and hopping from SBS to KBS. With just a month left till it airs, it’s finally secured its leads and will get right to work – not a moment to spare! – with script readings scheduled for the 2nd.

Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young will both play members of the maritime police force, which I like; I was afraid she’d be mere arm candy as the love interest, but she’ll be the force’s sole female officer. I do wonder if this means the drama will take a different direction than its initial rival-frenemies storyline, which would have been played out by Eric and Kim Kang Woo in the first version of this show. Also, I don’t see mention of the counterterrorism unit in these new reports – in Round 1, the two leads were to be recruited out of the police force into a special unit. This doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but I wonder…

Lee Sung Jae (“Lawyers of Korea,” “Stranger than Heaven”), meanwhile, plays the police chief.

I’m glad that the show finally seems to be finding its footing, and am both happy about the casting and a little worried in case the drama should tank, since I like both Lee Shi Young and Choi Siwon and don’t want them to suffer. I think Lee is the better actor – she’s so spunky and awesome – but Siwon’s got tons of charisma, and I think this kind of role is the perfect type of vehicle to take him to the next level as a leading man. He did headline “Oh My Lady,” but I don’t really think that’s a big leg up in terms of his long-term career. (It’s cute and amusing, but forgettable even for fluff.) After playing with the big boys in “Athena,” though, he seems ready to move onwards and upwards, and we’re happy to let him.

Oh, I hope this show works out. I mean, it’s used up its quota of setbacks and obstacles, right? Things can only look up, right? (What do you mean, it doesn’t work like that?)

“Poseidon” is set to air in September, following “Myung-wol the Spy” on Mondays and Tuesdays.

TRANS 110623 Dream Team Jisung Choi Kang Hee…

[TRANS] 110623 Dream Team Jisung-Choi Kang Hee-Kim Jaejoong Come Together For ‘Our Boss Has Changed’

Posted by Eihpos at Friday, June 24, 2011

Jisung, Choi Kang Hee, JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, Wang Ji Hae, Kim Chung, Park Young Gyu and Cha Hwa Yeon have come together for a new drama.

They will all be working together in the new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Our Boss Has Changed(provisional title)’ that will begin airing on August 3rd. Viewers are already highly anticipating what is to come as the four leading roles are a fresh, new mix up, with the three veterans expected to bring perfect chemistry to the drama.

‘Our Boss Has Changed’ is a sweet, spunky, and energetic romantic comedy about a woman who, after struggling with unemployment, succeeds in finding work as a dispatched secretary for a hot tempered businessman in a large firm.

Jisung plays the role of Cha Ji Heon, the slightly lacking and childish youngest son of a conglomerate while Choi Kang Hee will be No Eun Seol, the woman who goes from an unemployed individual to a secretary at a conglomerate.

JYJ’s YoungWoong Jaejoong, who is taking on the domestic drama industry for the first time, will be playing Cha Moo Won, ‘the prince of the financial world’, while Wang Ji Hae will be playing Seo Na Yoon, a lawyer who is nothing more and nothing less than perfection.

The love lines that will be drawn between Jisung, Choi Kang Hee, YoungWoong Jaejoong and Wang Ji Hae are already a hot topic among netizens. The brazen and yet timid Jisung, the queen of comedy Choi Kang Hee, domestic drama rookie Kim Jaejoong and Wang Ji Hae will be drawing a love rectangle that will be of a great interest to viewers.

Adding more acting experience to the drama will be middle-aged actors such as Park Young Gyu, Cha Hwa Yeon and Kim Chung.

The production company stated, “We found the actors who will best fit the drama,” and “The images of the actors that perfectly fit their characters, the stable acting skills and the charm each actor has will perfect ‘Our Boss Has Changed’.”

‘Our Boss Has Changed’ will air after ‘City Hunter’ on August 3rd at 9:55pm.
