Video 110623 Historic Natural Disasters Pummel North Dakota Across State

Historic Natural Disasters Pummel North Dakota Across State | Video
Brian Howell | 6/23/2011

When we say this has been a historic year for flooding, it`s an understatement. Minot certainly is North Dakota`s hardest hit city, so far, but records are shattering across the state.

“2011 is going to go down in history as an epic year in North Dakota for natural disasters. At times, it almost seems unreal,” said Gov. Jack Dalrymple, R-N.D.

State and federal leaders have been criss-crossing the state since March. First there was Fargo, where the Red River headed toward its third largest crest in city history.

Next, the Sheyenne River assaulted Valley City, twice. And then roads and property flooded in Devil`s Lake, when it rose two feet.

But the worst was yet to come. At the end of May, the Missouri River went out of control, sending record flows through the Bismarck area. River levels are now hovering just under 19 feet and are expected to last well into summer.

Horrific results are already being seen.

On Wednesday, a home in Hoge Island was swallowed by the Missouri River a few miles north of Bismarck. Some Hoge Island residents are afraid their nearby homes might be next.

“I thought everything was going good, and then that house fell in, and everything went downhill from there. I am concerned about it because sand could come swirling up and swallow (my house) up, too,” said AJ Ehrmantrant, a Hoge Island resident.

Minot averted disaster not too long ago, when the Souris River acted up in early June, but miraculously quieted down. Obviously, things didn`t stay that way for long.

“Minot, N.D., my hometown, is facing a dire emergency. We`re going to need help,” said U.S. Sen. Kent Conrad, D-ND, on the floor of the United States Senate on Wednesday.

North Dakota`s congressional delegation is working in overdrive to get federal support from their colleagues. “We need to pull together and we need to help each other. I know we will, because that`s the American way,” said Sen. John Hoeven,R-N.D., on the floor of the United States Senate on Wednesday.

Hopes are high that it`ll be over soon. “This takes the cake. How can you possibly have this much disaster?” said Dalrymple.

Ehrmantrant said he can`t think of anything more he can. There were questions earlier about whether damage would be bad enough to qualify North Dakota for maximum levels of FEMA help, but nobody is asking that question anymore.

[THIS certainly has been a landmark year, not just in North Dakota but around the world. There has been Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, which touched Hawaii and the West Coast of America, southern U.S. tornados and tropical storms, tornados and flooding in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and what is certainly a devastating run of flooding for North Dakota and Canada. Please continue to pray for the victims of these disasters and extend help to them if you can. Momma Cha]

Trans 110623 Yoochun’s ‘Miss Ripley’ And Changmin’s ‘Come…

[Trans] 110623 Yoochun’s ‘Miss Ripley’ And Changmin’s ‘Come To Play’ Were Filmed At The Same Time In The Same Building

JYJ’s Park Yoochun and TVXQ’s Choikang Changmin kept MBC’s staff on their toes as they filmed for their respective shows on the same day and time with just one wall separating them.

On the 22nd, Park Yoochun filmed for ‘Miss Ripley’ on set at the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. He was following a rigorous schedule of filming for the drama in the morning in the MBC building and heading out in the afternoon to film in Gangnam.

Next to the indoor set of ‘Miss Ripley’ was the set of MBC’s ‘Come to Play’. On this day, many SM Entertainment singers were present after completing their ‘SM TOWN Live Tour in Paris’ performance in Paris, France. Choikang Changmin was present to represent TVXQ on ‘Come to Play’.

Fortunately, it was later found that the two did not run into each other due to their busy schedules. But as Park Yoochun and SM Entertainment representatives have not met in public since the 2009 lawsuit, MBC staff later reported that they were unable to hide their nervousness as they were kept on their toes.

Since Park Yoochun began singing as a member of JYJ, he has been unable to appear on variety shows. Though the lead roles of ‘Miss Ripley’ tried to appear on ‘Come to Play’, the plan was canceled due to doubtful reasons. Even ‘Section TV Entertainment News’ has dropped out of publicizing its own broadcasting company’s drama, which has never happened before.

At the press conference of ‘Miss Ripley’, Park Yoochun confessed, “Though I want to appear on variety shows, I keep getting ‘cut’.”

A representative of ‘Miss Ripley’ stated, “Park Yoochun was supposed to head over to Gangnam to film in the afternoon but filming was delayed, meaning that Park Yoochun was still in Ilsan when ‘Come to Play’ was being filmed,” and “Though the relationship between Park Yoochun and the company(SM Entertainment) may be strained, he is not on bad terms with the members so I don’t think he minded that much.”

T/N: The translator would like to remind readers that the word choice used in this article is not her own, but of the reporter who wrote the original article. I don’t think ‘Fortunately’ is the word that should be used to state the fact that the two did not meet (in public…. *crosses fingers*).

News JYJ’s Yoochun to Narrate For A Special MBC Documentary

[News] JYJ’s Yoochun to narrate for a special MBC documentary

JYJ’s Yoochun is lending his voice for a documentary. According to MBC, the idol will be narrating for the documentary, ‘The Hometown I’ve Once Lived In‘. It tells the story about Korea’s small towns, which are slowly disappearing under the force of urban developments.

It specifically investigates a small country town in Kangwon-do that protested against a developing golf resort for six years; the town’s citizens tried to prevent being forced out of their homes.

The production team stated, “We chose Yoochun to be the narrator in the hopes that his soft and kind voice will touch more viewers about the painful stories we all hold about our hometowns.”

They added, “We explained the program’s special purpose and content to Yoochun’s team, and Yoochun gave a positive response [to them], thus agreeing to narrate.”

The documentary is set to air on June 17th.

The gala show, that featured the ‘K3′ of Korea’s national rhythmic gymnastics team Sohn Yeon Jae(17), Lee Gyung Hwa(23) and Kim Yoon Hui(20) as well as Russia’s ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Yevgeniya Kanayeva(ranked #1 worldwide), Daria Kondakova, Daria Dmetrieva and ‘Ukraine’s swan’ Anna Besonova, became a hot topic when JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong was chosen to direct the show.

In his official greeting in the gala show pamphlet, Kim Jaejoong wrote, “When I got to know Sohn Yeon Jae, I wanted to encourage her as I saw her working her hardest to achieve her dream of standing on a global stage, though she participates in a fairly unknown sport. News 110615 Park Ready for Vietnam Charity Match

[News] 110615 Park Ready for Vietnam Charity Match

Star football players from Korea and Japan will play

Korean football star Park Ji-sung is set to participate in a charity football match in Vietnam tonight to help boost the development of the sport in Asia.

The 30-year-old Manchester United midfielder will join 15 other footballers in an “Asian Dream Cup” football match against Vietnamese club Navibank Saigon at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City tonight.

The match is sponsored by Korean company Doosan Heavy Industries and is the first project of JS Foundation, a charity foundation Park established in February. The foundation previously announced plans to hold annual charity football matches around Asia.

Park said he chose Vietnam to be the foundation’s first destination because many people told him that football is really popular there.

The former Korean national team captain also added that the Southeast Asian nation caught his eye because it used to be divided, like Korea is today.

“I want to give hope to young kids in Vietnam who love football,” Park said on Monday at Incheon International Airport before departing to Vietnam. “Asian football is growing fast and the gap between the football powerhouses [and less-developed football nations] is getting closer. If I can give Asian players some kind of motivation, I think they will have the desire to become great football players.”

Meanwhile, Park’s JS Foundation said that all revenue from the charity football match will be donated to help youth players in Vietnam. The foundation also said it will expand its youth football development program and support cultural exchanges for football players around Asia.

Prior to the charity match, JS Foundation held a youth football clinic yesterday, with more than a thousand people gathered to watch Park and other football players teach some skills to 60 youth players. The foundation also invited Korean idol group JYJ and actress Han Hye-jin to promote the match in Vietnam.

Park will play with several Korea national team members – such as AS Monaco striker Park Chu-young, Bolton Wanders winger Lee Chung-yong, Celtic FC midfielder Ki Sung-yueng and national-team retiree Lee Young-pyo – as well as some of his Japanese football friends. They include former Japanese international Kazuyoshi Miura, Hidetoshi Nakata, a 34-year-old retired two-time AFC Player of the Year winner and Grenoble FC midfielder Daisuke Matsui, who once played with Park on the Kyoto Purple Sanga of the J-League.

Miura is considered the face of Japanese football after scoring 55 goals for his country in international competitions. He still plays for Yokohama FC at 44-years-old.

Park said he also contacted Korean football player Koo Ja-cheol to join him in Vietnam, but Koo’s German club, Wolfsburg, denied his request to go.

In addition, Park’s closest Manchester United teammate, Patrice Evra, said he will not be able to join Park due to commitments with the French national team. The 30-year-old left back was invited but promised Park he would play in next year’s charity match.

Korean-Japanese Jong Tae-se, who plays for German club Vfl Bochum – internationally for North Korea – was also invited by Park but is not expected to play in the game due to a right knee injury. He will, however, travel with the charity squad.

Park said he personally contacted the players via phone and e-mail and asked them to participate. He added that he hopes the star-studded charity football match will be a catalyst for Asian football development.

Translation 110615 ‘Miss Ripley’ Park Yoochun and Lee Da Hae Transformed Into Handsome Bike Couple

[Trans] 110615 ‘Miss Ripley’ Park Yoochun and Lee Da Hae transformed into handsome bike couple‏

Looking sharp and dangerous. 🙂

On the MBC TV Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Miss Ripley’ episode 6 broadcasted on the 14th, Park Yoochun and Lee Da Hae transformed into bike couple, both dating while wearing handsome black bike outfits and helmets.

In ‘Miss Ripley’, Park Yoochun who acted as Mondo Resort Group’s successor, has been portraying his gentle image, but through this bike scene, it was the first time his wild and handsome manly charisma was exhibited. Lee Da Hae who acted as Jang Miri, changed her usual feminine style and came out in handsome bike outfit, play role as a bike couple with Park Yoochun.

This filming was done late last month in Itaewon and Banpo bridge and the bike they rode on is worth about 40 million won. According to staff, the two of them anticipated this bike scene a lot and smiled like a child during the filming. Especially for Park Yoochun who has a penchant for driving, he was delighted just by the ability to ride a bike.

The production company has expressed that Park Yoochun will be showing his manly charisma gradually in the drama and this riding scene hinted the progression of the storyline to a new level, thus hoping the audience to wait for it.

‘Miss Ripley’ is a melodrama that tells the story of a woman who unwillingly said a lie and this led to more lies, resulting in a danger that she would lose all the she had.
