Anticipation has been rising for TVXQ member U-Know Yunho’s guest appearance in JTBC’s sitcom “Living in Cheongdam-dong.”

In the press conference held of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” on 25 November at 2pm, highlight videos of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” were revealed.

In this video, which included passionate acting from the “Nation’s Mother” Kim Hye Ja as well as Hyun Woo and Lee Sang Yup, U-Know Yunho made a sudden appearance, surprising those at the press conference.

In the sitcom, U-Know Yunho plays a Hallyu star who rents comic books without returning them, then goes into Kim Hye Ja’s comic book room without paying for the rental of space, resulting in his shaming that led to much laughter from the audience.

The director of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” said, “In the show, Kim Hye Ja runs a comic book room in Cheongdam-dong, and this is supposed to be a comic book room that is frequented by hallyu stars. In the future, more hallyu stars will be making surprise appearances, and I hope that you will look forward to it.”

K-pop groups KARA and TVXQ have been nominated for the top prize of the 53rd Japan Record Awards, while 2NE1 has been nominated for Best New Artist, the awards committee announced on Saturday.  

A major music awards show held annually in Japan, the Japan Record Awards is organized and hosted by the Japan Composer’s Association.
 
Ten acts have been nominated for the top award this year, including Nishino Kana, Mizumori Kaori, Hikawa Kiyoshi, and AKB48. KARA has been nominated for “Go Go Summer!” while TVXQ is being for “Why? (Keep Your Head Down)” All of the nominees automatically share the Best Song award, and the top prize winner will be announced on the day of the ceremony.
KARA debuted in Japan in 2010, and received the New Artist of the Year Award from the Japan Gold Disc Awards the same year. The group released two studio albums and five singles in Japan since their debut. Their third Japanese single, “Jet Coaster Love” topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart during its first week of release.
TVXQ, on the other hand, has topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart nine times since their Japanese debut in 2005. Initially a five-member group, TVXQ returned as a duo consisting of Yunho and Changmin in January, after the three original members ― Jae-joong, Yoochun, and Junsu ― left the group over a dispute about their 13-year contract with S.M. Entertainment back in 2009. After their return in January with a new Japanese single “Why (Keep Your Head Down),” the duo also released a Japanese studio album titled “TONE” in September. The full-length album sold more than 200,000 copies during its first week of release.  
Meanwhile, 2NE1, which just had a highly successful concert in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Saturday, has been nominated for the Best New Artist prize, along with three Japanese musicians ― Ito Miyu, Super Girls, and Fairies. Like the top prize nominees, the four Best New Artist prize nominees are automatically given a New Artist prize, with the Best New Artist winner honored on the awards night.
The girl group debuted in Japan in September with their mini-album “Nolza.” The album topped Japan’s Oricon chart the same week. They held their first Japanese concert, “1st Live Concert: Nolza in Japan” at Yokohama Arena on Sept. 19 and 20.
Last year, Girls’ Generation was nominated for the Best New Artist, and Big Bang was one of 10 artists to get a Best Song award, for “Tell Me Goodbye.”
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live through Japan’s TBS at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.

New York Concert To Appear On The Big Screen

A luxurious stage featuring Kang Ta, BoA, TVXQ. Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, F(x) and other idols, as well as previously unreleased off-stage clips will be shown in the form of a movie.

On 23 October, at Madison Square Garden, the “SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in New York” was successfully held. A leader in K-pop, SM Entertainment’s artists were the first Asian musicians to hold a concert in the center of American pop culture, Madison Square Garden.

At the press conference for the above event, aside from the NY Times, Billboard, Village Voice and MTV and other local media being present, Japan’s Sankei News, Nikkan Sports, China’s Mingbao and other foreign media were also present in this press conference battle.

Titled “I am: SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in Madison Square Garden (tentative title)” (Produced by CJ Entertainment in collaboration with SM Entertainment, distributed by CJ Entertainment,) (this movie is) centered around the SM Entertainment artists performing in this historic event , and their intensive training process in preparation for a emotionally charged stage, as well as their real, everyday lives, honest feelings and others will all be shown on camera.

Also, videos of the SMTOWN artists and their journey from their trainee days to their current position, how they are now, as well as their hopes for the future will all be revealed via interviews. This movie will be aired in the first half of 2012.

TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho will be making a special appearance in the sitcom “Living in Cheongdam-dong” starring Kim Hye Ja.

Sources from the TV drama industry told Newsen that it has been decided that U-Know Yunho will be making an appearance in the jTBC sitcom “Living in Cheongdam-dong,” and started filming on the afternoon of 7 November. For this shoot, U-Know Yunho will be working with Kim Hye Ja, which will present a unique form of pleasure. This is the second time he is appearing in a sitcom after MBC’s “Rainbow Romance” in 2006.

“Living in Cheongdam-dong,” is the “Nation’s Mother” Kim Hye Ja’s first time challenging a sitcom.

Prior to “Living in Cheongdam-dong,”, U-Know Yunho made a special appearance in KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Poseidon,” and made his mark. Despite his guest appearance in only 4 episodes, he was burdened with the great task of being responsible for the early development of “Poseidon’s” (plot).

Also, TVXQ is currently active in Japan, and will be releasing their 33rd Japanese single “Winter～Winter Rose / Duet -winter ver.-“ on 30 November.

The Tohoshinki album “TONE” release event was held in Tokyo and Osaka on 1 & 3 November.

For this event, nearly 200,000 applications were received, and among them 15,200 people were gathered at the location. This event was approximately 1 hour long, and included the members’ talk as well as song performances.

Yunho and Changmin talked about the secret story behind the album release, and also about the shoot for the recently released photobook “El Sol.”  With such a special talk, the fans’ eyes sparkled involuntarily as they smiled.  They could feel the members’ thoughts that were not communicated in magazines and television programs, and this was probably very satisfying.

Furthermore, questions for Tohoshinki that were gathered from the public, and a corner with things that the fanclub wanted Tohoshinki to do were held at the event, and fans definitely caught a glimpse of a new honest side to the members.

For the live performance, 「B.U.T（BE-AU-TY）」, 「Duet」, 「I Don’t Know」 were the numbers performed, that excited the crowd. Also, this time, the album version of  「Duet」 to be released in the single on 30 November was revealed for the first time, moving the participants to tears.  At the end, they announced that there will be additional performances for their nationwide tour that starts in January 2012. Tohoshinki’s tour will see 20 performances held at 9 locations, gathering an expected crowd of 250,000 people.

With “TONE” doing well and staying in the top 10 rankings for 5 consecutive weeks, Tohoshinki will soon be releasing their first winter single  「Winter ～Winter Rose / Duet – winter ver. -」on 30 November. Also, the ChakuUta® version will be released starting 16 November.

Many are curious to see if SM singers will appear in M.net’s awards ceremony MAMA for the first time in three years.

It has been found that M.net is optimistic about the possibility because SM singers have been appearing in M.net’s ‘M! Countdown’ as well as its other awards shows. As TVXQ, Super Junior, f(x) and Girls’ Generation have all been active this year, they will ‘most definitely’ be invited to the awards show and with SM deciding to make amends with M.net, there should be no problems with them accepting the invitations.

MAMA will be holding a press conference at the Sangam CGV on the 1st of next month, and it seems that the hottest topic of the day will be whether or not SM will be participating in the awards show. A representative stated, “Though we can’t yet reveal the official list of stars who will be attending, there’s nothing stopping SM singers from coming.”

 

The only hurdle is their schedules. All of the SM singers have packed schedules for the end of the year, and it will take time to move things around to accommodate to the awards show. TVXQ will be attending the ’2011 Billboard K-Pop Masters’ concert at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on the 25th of November, so it might not be easy for them to appear at MAMA two days later. The other groups also have tight schedules, so they will need time before they confirm any appearances.

The singers of SM Entertainment have not appeared in MAMA (or MKMF as it was known in the past) since TVXQ won the ‘Album of the Year Award’ in 2008. When only the members of JYJ, who were in a lawsuit with SM, were invited in 2009 to receive an award on behalf of TVXQ, SM and M.net’s dispute exploded. Since then, SM’s choice on whether or not to appear in the awards show has been a hot issue every year.

MAMA will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on the 29th of November.

Tohoshinki has taken the no.1 spot on the Taiwanese album charts.

Taiwan’s MTV24 reported that “Tohoshinki’s new album “TONE” exceeded 240,000 copies in sales, and was the top seller for the week of 15-22 October. They said, “This album has three different covers in red, blue and yellow. Each album has 6 photos using different concepts. If you put all three albums together, you can see “It’s My Way.”” and also “The songs in the album blend both members’ powerful performance skills with their exceptional vocals, igniting its popularity.”

On 29 October, Tohoshinki will be released their photobook with the concept of “Two mature men’s holiday,” named “El Sol.” After completing their Asian fan party tour, they will be holding a nationwide concert tour in Japan next year.
