Editor’s Note: 120329 “Rooftop Prince” Elevator Scene Takes Us By Storm

 Rooftop Prince

SBS’s “Rooftop Prince”  starring Park Yoochun has aired it’s first episode. It is presently on drama sites with partial subs. This has been a much anticipated drama, especially in light of the recent actual sasaeng drama and parental loss in the lives of Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu. This brings some sunshine in along with the sincere efforts of Junsu to cheer us up.. Congratulations Yoochun. I will write a review as soon as I have opportunity.

Addendum:

I just finished watching Episode One of Rooftop Prince with English subs at www.viki.com

This drama is considerably complicated and starts very tragically with the death of the Crown Princess. She is not what she appears to be, and is dearly loved by the Crown Prince (Yoochun). This story line has the feel of Cinderella minus the wicked stepmother. Why have a wicked stepmother when you can have a wicked step-sister? As is natural, the Crown Prince suspects foul play, and the instinctive viewer finger points to the wronged sister of the Crown Princess.

There is a huge amount of hopping back and forth between time. Yoochun’s modern character drowns (through actual foul play), and the Crown Prince and his royal band of vigilantes end up in the apartment of the modern-day wronged step-sister.

This drama is going to be complicated and will need intense direction in order to keep the viewer from being disoriented. Over-all it looks like a great storyline, humorous and not-so-humorous plot, and I am looking forward to Episode Two. Park Yoochun is doing an excellent job of acting and so are the other characters, especially the child actresses. Episode Two should help the plot to settle in and then we will be off on a Grand Adventure!!!

O.K. Episode Two is hilarious, especially the fire scene and teaching the Guys modern conveniences like ‘ahem’  toilets. The Crown Prince is getting the picture rapidly . He knows that they have time-traveled 300 years and this will prove interesting.  BTW. What’s with the alcohol and whipped cream? This Momma must be behind the times. Absolutely funny!

Episode Three of Rooftop Prince is out. My Goodness. I laughed so hard my ribs hurt. This drama is proving to be a wonderfully hilarious ride full of quirky surprises and lots of emotional angst. Just what we all like, right? The elevator scene is so funny, funny, funny. Poor Guys, picturetakers, cameras, and all.

I wanted to cry with Micky at the palace. He can look so pathetic, can’t he? Crocodile Tears. TT

There is so much, how do you cover it all? I love everything about this drama. The characters, the plot, the colors, the situation…YAWWWW………  Momma Cha  😉  <3

120222 Kim Jaejoong Joins Time Slip Dr. Jin

Kim Jaejoong Joins Time Slip Dr. Jin

by | February 21, 2012

Kim Jaejoong (Protect the Boss) has been cast in the upcoming time-travel-medical-historical drama Time Slip Dr. Jin starring Song Seung-heon, in what will be the singer-actor’s first sageuk role to date. The manga adaptation features a Doogie-esque hero who travels back in time 150 years, where he learns that maybe there’s more to being a doctor than a massive IQ. Because apparently that’s not something you can learn after 1860. But… how will we know he’s a TV doctor if he’s not wearing the shiny white labcoat and model-strutting down the hall with two rows of interns at his sides?

Jaejoong will be playing Kim Kyung-tak, the descendant to a long line of master swordsmen, and the best warrior of his generation. He’s competitive and prideful, but he also has a softer, innocent side: his character has a single-minded devotion to his first love. Sigh, don’t they all? He’ll be going head-to-head with the hero Dr. Jin, though I’m wondering how literal that could be. Will the scalpel-wielder be picking up a sword and vice versa? Or are they just going to be fighting over a girl?

With all the time travel in dramaland these days, it’s a wonder we’re not going to end up with a prince on a proposal mission, a high school student as a doctor, and a neurosurgeon living on a rooftop. Fourth dimension’s a tricky thing, boys. Don’t get stuck in each other’s wormholes. Oh. Ew. I just grossed myself out.

Time Slip Dr. Jin is currently being shopped at cable networks, with reports that it’ll find a home at Channel A.

[TRANS] 120215 “Rooftop Prince” Writer Says, “The Reason Why We Wanted Yoochun To Appear? His Extraordinary Charm”

[Trans]  120215  “Rooftop Prince” Writer Says, “The Reason Why We Wanted Yoochun To Appear? His Extraordinary Charm”

The screenplay writer of SBS drama “Rooftop Prince” which will begin its broadcast in March this year, Lee Hui Myung, has explained that the reason why Park Yoochun was selected as the male lead was his “extraordinary charm”.

Lee Hui Myung, who wrote several representative romantic comedies such as “Mr. Q” (1998), “tomato” (1999) and “Success Story of a Bright Girl” (2002), spoke about his thoughts and revelations prior to the broadcast of “Rooftop Prince.”

“Rooftop Prince” is about the crown prince of the chosun dynasty who loses his beloved princess then travels with his consorts 300 years into the future to the modern day to continue his unfinished romance, a fantasy-romantic comedy. It features Park Yoochun, Han Ji Min, Jung Yoo Mi and others.

In this drama, the scriptwriter said that reason why the main character was planned to be a crown prince was that “Disregarding reality, but from a drama point of view, relationships that transcend the differences between a man and a woman are the ones that receive the best response from the audience.  This is why you often see young CEOs with a chairman for a father, or a manager. So I thought, what would be of an even higher status than a CEO or someone with a chairman for a father, and I felt that using a king or crown prince would be possible.”

Aside from the characters, when talking about why he chose to use time travel as the setting, he said, “If a flower boy from the Chosun dynasty appeared in modern day Seoul, how would he be treated. Unlike the modern days, his character and manner would be more traditional, and if the guy who had come was not a handsome man, how would it be….it seemed to be really interesting to imagine these scenarios. “

With regards to Kim Min Jong and Song Yun Ah, who starred in “Mr. Q”, and Jang Nara, who starred in “Success Story of a Bright Girl” and became immensely popular, he said, “I never once thought that these actors became successful because of me. Instead, it is all thanks to their star factor and acting skills, as well as exceptional direction, that allowed my scripts to be a success.”

Talking about Park Yoochun, who  plays the crown prince and lead for the drama, he said, “As an actor, Park Yoochun has always been using a gentle image to define his role as an actor. As the Crown Prince Lee Gak, he has to be a character with exceptional charisma, and I think that Park Yoochun has that potential, and I am looking forward to it. Looking at this, if he does well, the drama will be successful, and I feel that Park Yoochun will also have chances to play other kinds of roles.”

“Rooftop Prince” which is a collaboration between screenplay writer Lee Hui Myung and director Shin Yoon Seob, will be aired after “Please take care of us, Captain” in March.

After stopping musical and drama related activites for a while, members of popular idol group JYJ is now starting to take another step towards planning for activities related to acting. Park Yoochun has been selected as the male lead for the new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Prince of the Rooftop House” and concrete details on dates and the signing of the actual contract is expected to be completed by this weekend. (T/N: This may not be true since there are articles that refute this)

“Prince of the Rooftop House” is a romantic comedy about a prince from the Chosun era who lost his wife during a war, and travels through time to the modern world to look for love. This role is said to have been created with Park Yoochun in mind even from the planning stages.

Kim Junsu will be meeting the fans via “Elisabeth,” which will be playing in Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul starting from 8 February. He has been working hard daily in preparation for this first performance since the start of December last year.
