[News] 110810 TVXQ’s Yunho to make a cameo in ‘Poseidon’

TVXQ’s Yunho will be making a special cameo appearance in KBS’s ‘Poseidon‘!

On August 10th, the drama’s production company explained that although Yunho was originally cast for the ‘Poseidon’ line-up, his busy overseas schedule prevented him from joining. They revealed that Yunho promised his continued friendship to the drama by making a cameo appearance instead.

Yunho will be playing the role of the skilled ‘Kang Eun Chul’, the team leader of ‘Poseidon’.

He’ll be pitted against labelmate Choi Si Won’s character, ‘Sun Woo’, a man who’s described to be principled through and through.

A representative explained, “The drama will contain a sense of humanism that depicts the preciousness of human life, in addition to documenting the adventures the lead roles take on.”

The drama begins airing next month!

110802 Poseidon Casts Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young

Poseidon Casts Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young
by: javabeans on Aug 2, 2011

Never mind, I’m back on the “Poseidon” train. Er, boat?

I pretty much thought this show was a sinking ship (and, okay, it still could be), but now it’s gone and cast Choi Siwon (“Athena”) and Lee Shi Young (“Playful Kiss”), and now I can’t help but be suckered back in.

The show has been floundering for a while now, struggling to cast even after getting a second shot at airing and hopping from SBS to KBS. With just a month left till it airs, it’s finally secured its leads and will get right to work – not a moment to spare! – with script readings scheduled for the 2nd.

Choi Siwon and Lee Shi Young will both play members of the maritime police force, which I like; I was afraid she’d be mere arm candy as the love interest, but she’ll be the force’s sole female officer. I do wonder if this means the drama will take a different direction than its initial rival-frenemies storyline, which would have been played out by Eric and Kim Kang Woo in the first version of this show. Also, I don’t see mention of the counterterrorism unit in these new reports – in Round 1, the two leads were to be recruited out of the police force into a special unit. This doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but I wonder…

Lee Sung Jae (“Lawyers of Korea,” “Stranger than Heaven”), meanwhile, plays the police chief.

I’m glad that the show finally seems to be finding its footing, and am both happy about the casting and a little worried in case the drama should tank, since I like both Lee Shi Young and Choi Siwon and don’t want them to suffer. I think Lee is the better actor – she’s so spunky and awesome – but Siwon’s got tons of charisma, and I think this kind of role is the perfect type of vehicle to take him to the next level as a leading man. He did headline “Oh My Lady,” but I don’t really think that’s a big leg up in terms of his long-term career. (It’s cute and amusing, but forgettable even for fluff.) After playing with the big boys in “Athena,” though, he seems ready to move onwards and upwards, and we’re happy to let him.

Oh, I hope this show works out. I mean, it’s used up its quota of setbacks and obstacles, right? Things can only look up, right? (What do you mean, it doesn’t work like that?)

“Poseidon” is set to air in September, following “Myung-wol the Spy” on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Trans 110626 ‘Poseidon’ Is Set To Air On…

[Trans] 110626 ‘Poseidon’ Is Set To Air On KBS.. Will U-Know Yunho Appear In The Drama?
Posted on June 28, 2011 by hominstyle

Maritime drama ‘Poseidon’, that had production halted indefinitely, has found its savior.

According to KBS, ‘Poseidon’ has been confirmed to air after KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday miniseries ‘Spy Myeong Wol’.

An emotional melodrama by PD Yoon Seok Ho was supposed to air after ‘Spy Myeong Wol’ but as the preparation process continues to be extended in order to create a drama with a higher level of completion, KBS has decided to air ‘Poseidon’ first.

‘Poseidon’ was expected to air in May on SBS with a star-studded cast of TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho, Eric, Kim Ok Bin and Kim Kang Woo. But with SBS deciding not to air the show and production being halted, Eric, Kim Ok Bin and Kim Kang Woo pulled out from the drama after consulting with the production company.

This has left people wondering if U-Know Yunho will still appear in the drama.

Regarding this, a representative of SM Entertainment stated, “Because U-Know Yunho already has activities planned, we are not in the position to say anything about his future appearance in ‘Poseidon’,” and “We have not completely organized our stance on his appearance in the drama yet.”

Translation 110601 Maritime Drama ‘Poseidon’ Comes to An End With Eric’s Decision To Resign From His Role

[Translation] 110601 Maritime Drama ‘Poseidon’ Comes To An End With Eric’s Decision To Resign From His Role

With a stream of resignations from lead roles and a failure to secure an airing schedule, the maritime drama ‘Poseidon’ has finally decided to stop production altogether.

‘Poseidon’ was a drama that portrayed the lives of the maritime police’s special forces team and became a hot topic for being Eric’s first drama since his return to the industry. It boasted a star-studded cast that included Kim Kang Woo, Kim Ok Bin, U-Know Yunho(TVXQ) and Jeon Hae Bin.

But disaster struck when the YeonPyungdo shelling incident and bad weather caused ‘Poseidon’ to halt filming for the drama in December. A further setback occurred when SBS decided not to air the drama in May and also when other broadcasting companies turned down the drama from their airing schedules.

With the filming schedule being delayed and the production company failing to secure an airing schedule, actors such as Kim Kang Woo and Kim Ok Bin resigned from their roles, and they were recently joined by the leading man, Eric, as he has decided to appear in KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Spy MyeongWol’.

In a phone conversation with NoCut News on the 1st, Eric’s entertainment agency stated, “We have come to an agreement with the production company to withdraw Eric from his role in ‘Poseidon’. Since filming 20% of the first episode in December, we have been waiting for filming to resume, but as the situation became uncertain, we have decided to withdraw Eric from the production. We then decided to have him appear in the drama ‘Spy MyeongWol’.

A representative of H20, the production company of ‘Poseidon’, tersely replied, “Production has been suspended completely,” and hastily hung up.

The production company promised to resume filming in May at the latest with new cast members, but with Eric’s decision to resign from his leading role, the drama has come to an early end.
