“I was able to react faster on stage now and this period of time, the environment around me changes a lot. To me, compared to the past, I was able to find that humble attitude again. JYJ members have all tried their hands in acting and especially for Park Yoochun who passed as an actor. This appears to be Kim Jaejoong’s motivation and burden.

“I was definitely motivated and can be a burden too. As a senior in acting, Yoochun has a very good start. I am now starting and will do it earnestly.”

The ability to support him through should be his motto. Kim Jaejoong said that his own motto always changes but right now his current motto is revealed.

“And that will be strive to live and not to be greedy. Because I feel that if I am too greedy, I will be punished.”

As he has been busy, he has not been able to take a rest. Does he have any dreams? As expected, he gave an unpredictable answer. He said that he has no dreams and because once he was able to do the things today with his best effort, then he will be able to feel the passion and self-confidence.

“I don’t have dreams and stuffs like that. The aim kept changing and if I were to set an aim now, that I would only think about that aim. I hope to work harder to be luckier and because of fans’ love, I want to do everything to the best that I could. There will be new targets time to time and if I were to work hard towards the aim, then dream would become reality.”

Lastly Kim Jaejoong did not forget to promote his new drama and with this new starting point, what dazzling beginning will he present to us? The anticipation starts now.

“My hope is that the viewer ratings will be able to reach 50% (laughs). Our drama can be watched by a variety of age group from teens to middle and old aged, therefore please give us your love and support.”

“Because it has not been that long since filming began, the character of Cha Muwon is not yet sharply defined. The inside of me is distracted and frantic. I had many conversations with the director-nim and the writer-nim. The acting is acting, but it seems that they were looking for Cha Muwon from inside of me, through everyday conversation. From episode 3 and 4, you will be able to catch a glimpse inside Cha Muwon of the true person of Kim Jaejoong.”

This is not his first acting. He stepped out onto acting for the first time with the collaborative movie between Japan and Korea of 2009, Heaven’s Postman. He also collaborated with Japan’s stars such as Ueno Juri and Eita in Japan’s Fuji TV drama Sunao Ni Narenakute in 2010. However he emphasized that his beginning as a real actor is with Protect the Boss.

“Heaven’s Postman was my debut work but despite that I was not able to have the mindset or the preparation fit for an actor. I went to filming without preparation, having merely memorized the lines in a rush—that was not respect due to acting. As for Sunao Ni Narenakute, I am satisfied with it because I was able to go into it with a sufficient period of preparation. But I do feel a bit wanting since the ratings were not as high as hoped for. Protect the Boss is a work that I am going into after having gone through a series of processes, and as such my attachment to the project is large. My heart is also fluttering at the thought that I am showing the work to the domestic fans.”

Kim Jaejoong discarded the thoughts that he would do overly well. He will be satisfied if he, without awkwardness, merely melds in well with the other great/superb sunbaes who are appearing in the drama. His acting teacher Ahn Naesang told him: “You should not act as if it is acting. Do not act as if it is acting.” The meaning of those words is only vague, but he plans to dwell and reexamine it as he keeps acting. Right now his head is completely filled with acting.

There was power struggle with Ji Sung hyung but in reality, I became closer with hyung. The chance to become closer to Ji Sung was during the MT gathering with the actors and staffs. “Before the official filming begins, I went to the MT gathering organised by Ji Sung hyung. “Other than Ji Sung hyung’s passionate help, I can feel the care from the others too. Choi Kang Hee noona would leave me a message if she did not managed to say goodbye to me after filming. After the increment of meet-ups, the nervousness gradually decreased. The senior actors were very good to me.”

Kim Jaejoong is currently undergoing the challenge with his new realization. During his filming for ‘Heaven’s Postman’, he was in a status with a lot of thoughts for his singing career thus he has no desire in other fields. Therefore there was neither enough time for filming nor his degree of commitment.

“Nobody told me what a movie is. And it was not a continuous filming. I filmed for a few scenes and returned to being a singer, then returned to filming again. It was done is such a manner. I do not understand/know the continuing emotions of the scenes and filmed it just like that. It also seems that due to my issues, Han Hyo Joo who was filming with me, also lost the enthusiasm. Kim Jaejoong stated proudly that, “After the end of the tour, I was praised by the company, my members, and by the staff. There were a number of songs that I myself composed just for this tour, and I was also the director of the concerts in Asia. And it was this kind of concert that was also performed in America. There were various difficulties and troubles, but to have accomplished such a big tour without having to ask for help from elsewhere was very satisfying.”

Through this recent world tour, Kim Jaejoong debuted as a director. When asked to choose between artist and director he laughed and said, “During the actual performance, I think it’s better to be the artist.” He further stated that, “Directors are really amazing, and I want to educate myself more about directing dramas. Being a director is about overcoming all the complications in order to shoot as how you desire. But in the end, a drama is a drama and a performance is a performance, and either of these have their own appeal.”

One of the most memorable moments for Kim Jaejoong with this world tour was their performance in Bangkok. Kim Jaejoong stated that, “I wanted to direct the first concert no matter what. The reaction from the fans was really good too so I was very touched.”

“Director Kim Jaejoong” also said that he had a desire to direct concerts and performances of other artists. He stated that, “I have an interest in directing performances for other artists similar to us. I once talked with my close friend Kim Hyunjoong about working on a album with our own style, and to do activities together but Kim Hyunjoong said that he was too greedy about his own music and would end up directing everything himself”, Jaejoong said laughing.

Also, while directing the gymnastics exhibition for Son Yon Jae, Kim Jaejoong reflected on how that experience had been extraordinary and enjoyable. “Son Yon Jae’s presentation showed that she understand more than what I understood I had to direct.”

He added, “I think if you truly play the part of the director and take it seriously, it would be a very interesting and an attractive area of work. Of course, right now I’m still taking small steps and learning, but I feel like my point of view in seeing the whole of a concert has gotten bigger, wider. During concert rehearsals, there were moments when I felt I wasn’t an artist standing on a stage, but I was behind the audience and directing, and that I myself was fulfilling a contribution to my team,” he concluded proudly.

Meanwhile, the “singer Kim Jaejoong” commented on their upcoming Korean album as “currently under preparation”. “I want to release it as soon as all the good music comes out but I wonder if it will be possible this year. We are currently even between different activities,” he added, not giving a definite answer.

Also in regards to whether he will be taking part in the OST of “Protect the Boss”, he said that there were still no such plans. He stated that, “At the moment there are no compositions that I could use for this drama, and it’s also difficult to join in so soon. But if such a proposal comes I will accept in order to support the drama.” He ended with this lingering statement, amplifying the expectations of the fans.
