[News] 110805 “Protect the Boss” already receiving lovecalls in many countries

The drama “Protect the Boss” is gaining lots of interest overseas already, recently reported as becoming a hot topic on Chinese video sites.

SBS Contents Hub, which is in charge of exporting dramas overseas, explained on August 5th that there is a huge amount of interest overseas for “Protect the Boss”. The drama is currently at the center of attention in the Asian market. SBS also stated that they are currently in the midst of negotiations for distributing the drama overseas.

According to SBS Contents Hub, most of Asia, including Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and so on and so forth are expressing their interest in airing “Protect the Boss” in their own countries.

“Protect the Boss” is a drama about a secretary, Noh Eunsul, who is hired to work for a useless 2nd generation rich boy, Cha Jihun. This drama had already been a topic of interest before its airing because JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, who had a successful acting debut in the drama “Sunao Ni Narenakute”, would be acting in it. On top of that, this drama has received a great response for its first 2 episodes.

Usually when looking to import a drama, they look at the viewer ratings after it has been airing for a while. However, in this case, this drama is already gaining love calls after only airing 2 episodes.

PROTECT THE BOSS 110805

If the first two episodes of ‘Protect The Boss’ are any indication of what is to come, we are all in for a marvelously hilarious roller coaster ride of laughs and fun. At the same time, there are always underlying issues such as child abuse (in this case adult abuse) in every drama. All of the main characters including Kim Jaejoong’s Cha Mu-Won are well-acted and it is so much fun watching the subtleties in Jaejoong’s expressions and his marvelous abiltity to subdue his natural exuberance. The rivalry between Cha Ji-Heon and Cha Mu-Won is intriquing and will be interesting to watch as it unfolds.

The boss and his secretary are over-the-top with their antics and amusing ways. This is a great drama to sit back, relax with, and rest your heels. As it unfolds I will write more on this first of Jaejoong’s domestic dramas.

Noooooooooo! Bad, bad news. There’s an update on Eom Ki-joon’s car accident, and it looks like his recent DUI does in fact put him in danger of being cut from his current SBS weekend drama Scent of a Woman, starring Kim Sun-ah and Lee Dong-wook. BUT! He’s my favorite character in that dramaaaaaaaaa!

I know, this is not about me. And I KNEW it was a possibility. But waaaaaaaaaaaah.

Eom was in a car accident on July 21st, where he rear-ended a taxi while driving under the influence. Thankfully no one was greatly injured, and now everyone is waiting with bated breath for the court to make a ruling on his case. He apparently was over the legal limit on the test at the scene, but the final word will come from the blood test, currently being analyzed. That’ll determine his culpability, and also his punishment.

SBS has issued a statement that no decision can be made until the court gives its ruling, so they wait, along with everyone else. So what does this mean for the drama? Basically they keep going for the upwards of two weeks until the verdict, after which Eom’s character will either get to continue being awesome crankypants Doctor Poopy-seok, or he gets written out and replaced by some other oncologist who did not poop his pants in grade school. Damnit.

JYJ’s member and actor Kim Jaejoong expressed his zero desire for the new actor award.

Kim Jaejoong revealed his thoughts on debuting in domestic drama at the production press conference held on the 27th afternoon at Seoul’s SBS Mu Dong building for SBS new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Protect The Boss’ (Script by Kwon Ki Young and directed by Son Jung Hyun).

Although he had acting experiences through last year’s Japan Fuji TV’s ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’ and acted with Han Hyo Joo in the movie ‘Heaven’s Postman’, but it is his first act in domestic drama and thus had the extraordinary sentiment.

Kim Jaejoong expressed, “It seems that I am starting to have the desire to achieve the new actor award but since this is my first challenge, isn’t it bad to have the thought of getting the award?”, “I have never gotten any other award in school other than the perfect attendance award.”

He continued humbly, “I am working at this as a total new acting experience and therefore I am learning a lot from the senior actors such as Ji Sung, Choi Kang Hee, Wang Ji Hye etc.”

He talked about the difference between acting in Japan and domestically, “Acting in Japan was not done with my native language and on the contrary, my burden was lessened. But with the responsibility of performing well in my native language, I was therefore nervous every time.”

Additionally, Kim Jaejoong received a piece of special acting advice from JYJ member and actor Park Yoochun who acted recently in the popular ‘Miss Ripley’. To this, he said, “Have to practice on not sleeping due to the overnight filming. After the conclusion of this work, I plan to go on a holiday with the members.”

Kim Jaejoong is acting as the composed Cha Mu Won who is the 3rd generation of the conglomerate and his character surrounds the power struggle and involvement with Ji Sung’s Cha Ji Hyun, who is related as first cousin.

He relayed his thoughts, saying, “When I first joined in, I envied the free-spirited and a bit nonsensical character of Cha Ji Hyun.” He continued, “I am still unable to adapt and have to act according to the director’s expressions. The other actors are doing very well and it seems that if I am able to work hard, it will be fine.”

‘Protect The Boss’ which involves Ji Sung, Kim Jaejoong, Choi Kang Hee, Wang Ji Hye etc, will be taking over the broadcast timeslot of SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘City Hunter’, premiering on the 3rd of August.

Kim Jaejoong tweeted on his Twitter at 12.45pm on 23rd with the caption, “Family photo, my hyung and noona, Jja-jjang!”, surprisingly revealed the photo taken during filming.

In the photo, Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee sat in the back seat and front seat of the car respectively, disclosing their faces. Ji Sung pretend to pull up Kim Jaejoong’s ears with Kim Jaejoong having a mischievous look, showing their closeness.

Netizens who saw the photo commented, “They seem to be closer.”, “Oppa is so cute.”, “The atmosphere looks good~” etc.

Filming for JYJ‘s Jaejoong‘s upcoming drama, Protect The Boss (formally The Last Secretary), is officially underway.

So far, SBS has revealed photos of the cast’s first script reading, the drama teaser shoot, and stills from the first episode.

Netizens were particularly intrigued by still shots of Choi Kang Hee at various interviews. According to drama reps, in the first episode Choi Kang Hee’s character, Noh Eun Seol, interviews at a whopping ten places before she is hired by Cha Muwon, played by Jaejoong.

The photos show a serious Jaejoong sitting on the interview panel and Choi Kang Hee being a 4-D interviewee. (Who shows off their martial arts skills at an interview for a huge firm?!) After being asked “What are you good at?” she sings and dances to “Twinkle Twinkle” by Girls’ Day.

I suppose it wouldn’t be a romantic comedy without some really awkward first impressions, now would it?

Protect The Boss is about Noh Eun Seol, who gets a job as a secretary and gets caught in a love triangle between her boss, the immature heir to the company, Cha Jiheon (played by heartthrob actor Ji Sung) and his oh-so-perfect cousin/rival Cha Muwon.

Protect The Boss will begin airing on August 3, after the conclusion of City Hunter.

JYJ’s world tour, which has finally completed its two month marathon, has been revealed.

The episode of KBS2′s ‘Live News Feed’ that aired on the 28th showed scenes from ‘JYJ WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN GWANGJU’, that took place on the 26th at 7pm at the Yeom Joo Gymnasium in Gwangju.

In the interview that took place before the concert, Kim Jaejoong talked about a happening in which he met Park Yoochun by chance at a bar.

Kim Jaejoong said, “Since the Busan concert, I didn’t have a single phone conversation with the other members,” and “But I bumped into Park Yoochun by chance three times.”

To this, Park Yoochun burst out laughing and said, “I was tired from filming my drama but I didn’t want to waste the spare time that I had, so I went out for a glass of beer with my friends. But there was Kim Jaejoong, sitting in the bar we had just entered. I was really surprised.”

He continued to add, “The owner of the bar thought that I had come with Kim Jaejoong, who had been sitting alone, so he took us all to his room without even asking.”

JYJ’s Park Yoochun is currently acting in MBC’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Miss Ripley’ while Kim Jaejoong will be taking his first steps into the domestic drama industry with the SBS drama ‘Protect The Boss’. Kim Junsu will be greeting his audience at the Seongnam Arts Center’s Opera House through the encore performance of the musical ‘Mozart!’ till early July.
