Sells out all copies of his repackage album, following over 140,000 copies of his first solo album

Tops album sales charts in other countries such as Japan… His Asia Tour is also on fire

Kim Jaejoong, who has taken his first steps as a solo singer, is living up to his title of a ‘Hallyu Star’.

After completely selling out all 140,000 copies of his solo album that was released in January, Kim Jaejoong has also sold all copies of his recent repackage album. The response is even hotter overseas. The album topped the iTunes rock charts in seven countries including Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and has also topped album sales charts in Taiwan and Japan. Kim Jaejoong became the first male solo singer to top the Korean V Charts of Yinyue Tai, China’s biggest music video site, for four consecutive weeks.

Amidst this success, Kim Jaejoong kicked off his ‘Your, My and Mine’ Asia tour in Thailand on the 17th of February. Requests for tour stops have been flooding in from various countries across Asia ever since it was revealed that Kim Jaejoong would be holding a world tour. There are currently three cities confirmed for the tour, with the singer meeting with fans in Shanghai, China from the 16th till the 18th of this month and moving on to Nanjing and Hong Kong afterwards.

A representative of C-JeS Entertainment explained, “There are a lot of countries being added to the list of potential stops as the tour progresses,” and “We’re getting a constant stream of calls through promoters. We’re currently in discussions over 3~4 cities.”

Yunho and Changmin of TVXQ have taken the #1 spot in terms of album sales for October.

According to the Gaon Chart, TVXQ’s album ‘Catch Me‘ sold 114,956 copies in October, which was the highest for the month. Adding the 131,882 album sales from September, the total sales adds up to 246,838 copies.

Psy‘s 6th album came second for October with 28,359 copies. Epik High was third with 27,161 copies, and G-Dragon was fourth with 18,722 copies.

Out of all the female artists in the top 10, T-ara‘s ‘T-ara’s Free Time in Paris & Swiss‘ sold the highest and was fifth overall by selling 17,242 copies while miss A‘s ‘Independent Women Pt. III‘ ranked 7th by selling 13,153 copies. Ga In ranked 9th with ‘Talk About S.’ by selling 9,855 copies.

 JYJ’s Kim Junsu (XIA)’s first solo album since his debut has been producing shocking results.

On 11 June, C-Jes Entertainment expressed, “The sales for Kim Junsu’s solo album “XIA-Tarantallegra” surpassed 120,000 copies last week, and has set the highest record on the Gaon Chart cumulative sales charts since the charts began.

Management personnel of the Gaon charts expressed, “It is the highest sales recorded for a solo album since the Gaon charts began. Although there have not been broadcast activities, as it is an album with a variety of genres, aside from the original fans, there are also many cases of new fans going into shops looking for the album.”

In addition, Kim Junsu’s solo album has also been very popular in China. Kim Junsu’s “XIA-Tarantallegra” ranked number 1 on the YinYueTai charts for the month of May.

CEO Baek Chang Ju of Kim Junsu’s management agency, C-Jes Entertainment, stated, “The restrictions in terms of television broadcast promotions were expected, so we chose a straightforward approach. We produced a full-length album with 12 tracks, and set producing a perfect full concert as our goal, by working with a top choreographer from America. Also, we spared no expense to produce a high-quality MV, which brought much success. I think that it was only made possible because of the trust in the artist (Kim Junsu).”

On another note, Kim Junsu released the dance version MV of “XIA-Tarantallegra” at 2pm on 11 June via the official Youtube channel.

 Group TVXQ has emerged as #1 in album sales for the first quarter of 2011.

The awards ceremony of the “1st Gaon Charts K-Pop Awards”, hosted by Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation and Joo Young Hoon, was held at the Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul, in the afternoon of February 22.

At the awards ceremony on this day, the awards were divided into the “monthly digital sales” category and the “quarterly album sales” category. In the album category for the “Singer of the Year” award for the first quarter of the past year, TVXQ’s “Why” album won the accolades. TVXQ’s “Why” has created a record of having sold approximately 235,669 copies.

TVXQ, who were unable to attend the awards ceremony due to their overseas activities, conveyed their greetings and gratitude through a video, “We are really thankful. We will continue to show everybody a good image in the future with cool music and performances.”

Meanwhile, this year’s inaugural Gaon K-Pop Awards makes use of the total calculation of the digital music sales and physical album sales over the past year on the Gaon Charts, an officially-recognized music chart in Korea, as a fair judging criteria to select its award winners.

The “1st Gaon Charts K-Pop Awards” will be broadcast live on February 22 from 7pm on cable channels KBS Drama, KBS Joy and portal site Daum.

  • Hello, please get note of a important situation.The quantity of TVXQ Keep Your Head Down album sales are not very impressive.The quantity of the album sales is not as much as the past year.This may cause they are quite hard to get the Golden Disk Award in the year end.

    Because Super Junior 5th album few days already broke 6,0000 album sales. Unfortunately, TVXQ 5th album the A version from the first half year untill now was less than 10,0000 album sales.

    Cassiopeia, please RE-Buy the 5th album to increase the quantity album sales.

    • . . .Not that I think anyone would have really paid attention to the above comment but you know, in case people were wondering. Another article:—

      It wouldn’t be fair to say that the sales for TVXQ’s album in the first half of 2011 was bad, but in comparison to some more aggressive fan clubs, we do not have that much of an advantage. If the rumors about a certain group’s upcoming comeback prove to be true, then we will have yet another strong competitor. The fight for the end of year awards will be tough.

      In the case of many groups, sales numbers for year 2011 are a highly important matter. For our boys, it is the symbol of HoMin’s rebirth after 2 long years; it is an opportunity for the two to prove themselves. To another group, the album released this year may be the last that we see in a long time with so many members still present, their fans swore to unite and help their idols shine. And this other group… it is no surprise that they may have hopes of winning the award again.

      Faced with this situation, it is time that Cassiopeia woke up to reality, don’t fall behind and linger on the glorious past, don’t reject the present. More importantly, don’t lose your senses and allow yourself to be consumed by arrogance because of our boys’ status and history. In the end, it all comes down to actual sales figures.

      GDA is awarded based on the following:
      60% sales
      20% popularity votes
      20% judges’ decision

      Though some aspects are clearly beyond our control, sales figures are real and concrete, they provide sold, irrefutable proof that TVXQ is truly deserving of the award.

      How much time and effort has it cost the two members to stand on stage again bearing the name of TVXQ? How anxious do you think they are to see Cassiopeia, the fan club who has stood by them and continued to keep faith? Remember the promise that Yunho said he’d been secretly keeping?
      He said he would not cry until he feels he has done his very best and that he will cry to his heart’s content at the end of this year, once everything is over…
