Strange things arose from the ‘1st Asian Song Festival’, which was held on November 2004. On the eve of the festival, Hallyu star singer Tony An, who was supposed to host it, announced that he would not do so. It was because the organizer initially asked him to host and perform on the festival, but suddenly told him not to perform. Tony An said that there was no point in just hosting it, hence he rejected the request. At that time, the key participating members of the festival were singers under SM Entertainment. Netizens simultaneously protested that there were senior-level figures from SM among the board members of Korean Federation for International Culture Exchange that organized the festival. They also questioned if SM tyrannized Tony An in order to promote singers who were under its management.

In 2005, a terrestrial musical program suddenly vanished. A person involved claimed that SM had something to do with it. A staff from the broadcasting company said, “SM ceased the appearance of its singers on the program, showing how much it wanted the program to stop”. 

SM is the biggest agency in South Korea. It is practically impossible for SM singers to stop appearing on public and cable TV everywhere. SM not only has influence in domestic broadcast, but also in the world’s second music industry, Japan, Europe and the United States. In the mid-1990s, the CEO of a huge agency who had successful actors under its management threatened a reporter who went to cover a report by saying, “If you don’t stop reporting, I will immediately stop the actors in my agency from appearing in the drama.” The huge agency, which manages its top stars in this way, has more influence than one imagines.

Among the big agencies, SM is boastful about its system being the most systematic in terms of its relationship with the mass media, method of content distribution, training of its singers, etc. Silently, SM backbites singers who left the agency. JYJ, who emerged after the separation of TVXQ is a typical example of backbiting.

After SM and JYJ started their lawsuit, JYJ have to live their lifes, covered with scars. JYJ’s Jae Joong, Yoo Chun, and Jun Su, and actress Min Hyo Lyn have taken promotional photos for clothing brand NII.

The photos were shot at a studio in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. The theme for 2012 Spring is “Feel Good in Nature (NII or nature).” It means it loves all natural colors in the world.

 

A spokesperson for the brand says, “We have recently signed a two-year exclusive contract with JYJ, who have received wide attention from the advertising industry. Through the models’ competitiveness, various new suggestions for fashion items, and intensified marketing, we are planning to settle as a brand that always satisfies customers.”

In addition to this, NII is expecting that JYJ will create a big synergy effect because they are holding an exclusive concert in South America next month. They are also planning to hold various promotional events and donation such as Heart Campaign consistently.

The boy group that released their worldwide album ‘The Beginning’ in 2010 has announced plans to release their second worldwide album this summer.

JYJ officials stated, “During the second half of this year, there are plans to have a worldwide tour and to release the second album before this. Similar to the year before, the members will advancer their album work in America. Furthermore, JYJ has successfully completed their tour in North America, so rather than it being like they are trying to enter a new market (America), it is more of a continuation of their previous activities.

America’s famous artist Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins collaborate with JYJ’s first album, and attracted enough attention to be introduced as hot topic on America’s billboard charts. In regards to this, JYJ’s second album will also be produced in America, and there is also a high chance of more collaborations with other American artists. “However as of now, who will be collaborating and how has not been decided”, officials added.

The screening of JYJ’s (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu) documentary has suddenly been cancelled.
The documentary that was filmed at QTV was not aired on broadcast, and so JYJ’s management, CJES, announced that a documentary titled “A Day” would be screened on February 9th.

JYJ had begun holding meetings to discuss details with CGV since December 15th, and their second meeting was on January 16th where they discussed further details. On the 19th, contract details were examined and on the 20th the contract was received. But it was after this day that CGV gave a sudden notice of cancellation by telephone.

JYJ management stated, “At that time, CGV said that the final authorization for the contract had not been given so they needed to initialize that. But on the 25th we received a notice that the contract had been cancelled.”

CGV management stated in this notice, “To the new managers, in regards to the process of briefing that we have conducted for the screening of “The Day”, internal reports and further progress have not been appropriately conducted according to the rules. Internally, to focus on the innovation of “The Day”, it has not been done well according to specific processes, and therefore due to strict regulations we have fallen into this kind of a difficult situation.

JYJ’s management stated, “The business people that own the channel and are abusing their position, CJES will be taking action against CGV for this sudden one sided breaking of a contract through the Fair Trade Commision by filing a complaint to the committee of grievances and complaints.” They added, “For this situation that CGV has created that we don’t understand, we demand for a viable answer.”

More and more k-pop idols are purchasing limited edition race cars these days. So if they’re going to put it out there, then let’s take a look.

It has been reported that members of JYJ possess the fastest cars out of all the idols in the industry, but what about the other qualifications?

JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong drives a Italian Lamborghini Murciélago LP-640, which is a 12-cylinder, 6.5 liter engine that produces 640 horsepower. This race car goes from 0 to 60 in an impressive 3.4 seconds and rides as fast as 205 mph. Estimated price in Korea for this vehicle is around $445,000 USD. Production of the Murciélago began in 2001 and ended on November 5, 2010, with a total run of 4,099 cars.

Kim Junsu‘s ride is the precious Ferrari ‘458 Italia‘, whose 8-cylinder, 4.5 liter engine produces 570 horsepower, but gets the same acceleration time at the lambergini 0 to 60 mph in 3.4. It drives as fast as 200 mph, and the starting price is $337,000 USD. Yesterday, The 458 Italia added two further plaudits to that collection at the International Engine of the Year Awards when its V8 was voted “Best Performance Engine” and “Best Engine Above 4 Litres”.

Fellow member Park Yoochun also drives a Ferrari. His ‘California‘ is a 4-seater convertible which boasts a 8-cylinder, 4.3 liter engine that produces 460 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, and drives as fast as 192 mph. Starting price is $311,000 USD. This is the around town version of the Ferrari.

Actor Jang Geun Suk who is known as being an automobile fanatic recently ordered an Audi R8 V10. The model comes with a 5.2 liter engine, accelerates from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds and rides as fast as 194 mph. Starting price is $209,000 USD.

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon drives a luxury car, a Bentley Continental GT. This model in particular boasts a 6.0 liter engine and the starting price is $254,000. The car can produce 575 horsepower off of a vehicle that weighs more than 2 tons. The Continental GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 in a mere 4.6 seconds, and gets up to 197 mph.

So, basically, these guys have some of the coolest cars from across the board, hands down.

JYJ was one of the bands featured on a Telehit music program yesterday. The program explained the origin of JYJ and how K-pop music has been moving steadily from Japan to the United States and into Latin America. JYJ were featured on Peru’s Billboard Top Pop radio chart, ahead of 3 other Kpop songs from large groups. In 2011 Kim Jaejoong was chosen as the number 1 sexiest man in the world in a pollconducted by a Peruvian magazine (El Hombre Mas Sexy Del Mundo de le Revista Privilege 2011).

JYJ recently announced that the band will play in Santiago, Chile on March 9 followed by Lima, Peru on March 11.
