JYJ’s Jaejoong, who is making his debut on the Korean big screens through the move “Here Comes Jackal”, made an appearance at the 17th Busan International Film Festival.
Jaejoong, who made attended a stage greeting for “Here Comes Jackal” with his co-star Song Ji Hyo, on 5 Oct at the BIFF Village outdoor stage in Haeundae, Busan, was greeted by cheers from the Busan residents when he appeared on stage.
When the MC posed him a question, “How do you feel about coming to the Busan International Film Festival sooner than Yoochun and Junsu?”, Jaejoong laughed and replied jokingly, “I am happy to have come to Busan sooner than Junsu and Yoochun”.
Jaejoong plays the role of a top star in Korea in “Here Comes Jackal”. He explained, “The movie depicts the events which unfold following the kidnap of a big star. As it has a lot of action scenes, and also has a lot of comedy included, it is a movie that can be enjoyed in different ways.” When asked how he felt about challenging his first movie, Jaejoong’s response was, “Although it was my first time filming, I could feel the appeal of movies. It was to the extent that once it ended, I wanted to take on another movie.”
On this day, the fans who had gathered at the BIFF village cheered at everything that Jaejoong said. In response to this, Ryu Shi Hyun, who was the MC, and Song Ji Hyo, also expressed, “Jaejoong is really very popular.”
Song Ji Hyo, who plays the killer who kidnaps Jaejoong in the movie, said, “It was not an easy character to take on, and Jaejoong, who is challenging movies for the first time, worked much harder than expected while on site. He’s the mood-maker at the fiming site, and allowed us to have fun while filming.” She laughed when she went on to say, “He does a lot of adlibs, I sometimes had trouble responding to them.”

The shooting of JYJ’s CM has been revealed.
Recently JYJ had a shooting for a CM after being appointed as models for a cosmetics company. On this day, JYJ showed a refined image, and as well as overflowing with charisma they also had a warm and soft sensibility.
The executive director of Tony Moly’s marketing headquarters commented, “With the professionalism of JYJ, we were able to shoot the CM harmoniously. They were amazing models and along with that, we wanted to create a trendy and urban image of Tony Moly and appeal to the global audience.
Excluding Japan, beginning with this CM JYJ will be appearing as Tony Moly’s models throughout Asia. It is schedules that they will be appearing on television and ad appearances in newspapers starting next month.

JYJ has been selected as the official model for cosmetics brand Tony Moly.
JYJ will be promoting for Tony Moly throughout Asia, including Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan for one year.
Tony Moly’s marketing representative Kim Seung Chul stated, “JYJ receives a lot of love both at home and abroad and is the best Hallyu star group. As much as Tony Moly is currently advancing overseas, we are expecting JYJ to help enhance the global brand image as models.”
JYJ’s image will be seen throughout Tony Moly stores and CFs starting from October.

“Not Possible” in domestic, “Welcome” abroad – JYJ’s Paradox

The trio group JYJ (Jaejoong Kim, Yuchun Park, Junsu Kim) is unique. It is difficult to see the group in the country, but the group is doing remarkable activities abroad. The team toured in Spain, Germany, Chile and Peru and the member Junsu Kim had his solo concert in Mexico – all as the first Korean singers who ever had concerts in each country. ◆ Aftermath of TVXQ Controversy?

The three members of JYJ had their debut in the year of 2004 as the quintet TVXQ under SM Entertainment. TVXQ shortly stood at the top in Korean pop industry and had 100,000 members in its fan-club. In 2009, the three members moved to the present agency and formed JYJ after ‘application for injunction to terminate the validity of exclusive contract’ against SM, claiming that 13-year of exclusive contract was too long. The lawsuit with SM is still ongoing.
After this, they have had difficulties in album distribution, venue rental, TV appearances and other things. With tremendous number of album sales and popularity, the public has not seen them in any of music/entertainment programmes for the last 3 years at all.
For example, Yuchun Park appeared in ‘SKK Scandal(KBS)’ and ‘Rooftop Prince(SBS)’ as a leading role, but no one could see his face in entertainment programmes of the both broadcasters despite the fact that actors appearing in the same broadcaster’s entertainment programmes during their drama is an unwritten rule in order to promote dramas. Even in some cases, his appearances were flip-flopped after scheduling.
First, broadcasting companies’ stance is that ‘we cannot cast the singer under legal dispute’. However, JYJ insists that ‘Independent activities are guaranteed until the ruling of the lawsuit on the merits’. Some say that this situation is because of external pressure.
“I was concerned a lot about the present situation that I can be on TV only through dramas. But I decided that it would be better to do something I can do the best, (knowing promotion would be difficult) released a solo album in May”, said Junsu Kim at the press conference in Mexico. His music video of the title song ‘Tarantallegra’ which cost him half a billion Won to make, has never once been aired.
JYJ looked overseas instead. The group betted on overseas stages with the fandom they established since TVXQ.
◆ Idol’s new market

The atmosphere at Junsu Kim’s Solo Concert at Blackberry Auditorio in Mexico City, Mexico on Sep 6 was just boiling. The concert was the part of his North/South American tour followed from New York and Los Angeles. 3,000 fans were shouting his name and ‘I Love You, Junsu!’ in Korean and sung ‘Besame Mucho(Kiss me much)’ together. Fans were all sung along his latest Korean lyrics such as ‘Set Me Free’. Junsu Kim is due to continue European Tour in the second-half of this year. JYJ also toured in 15 cities from the last year to the first-half of this year and met 210,000 fans around the world.
Paradoxically speaking, the restriction in Korea domestic has become the other way into the new steps. The agency says South American tours are deficit as they are too far from Korea, but it explains that “In the manner of investment, we are trying to go anywhere as long as fans are there”.
“JYJ’s case is a condensable example of the fact that the practical power belongs to management companies, the capital itself under this idol producing system, although the popularity is earned by an idol member”, Jakga Kim, the pop-music critic commented. He continued, “JYJ showed the possibility that an idol group CAN survive by themselves, not depend on the cartel which acts on collusion with management companies and broadcasting companies”.

SM Entertainment and JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu, Park Yoochun) have once again failed to reach an agreement as they battle over TVXQ’s exclusive contract.
An arbitration session for JYJ’s exclusive contract lawsuit was held at the Seoul District Courts at 5pm on the 18th of September in room 579. This session had been scheduled by the judge’s orders though the final verdict had been scheduled to be made on the 13th.
So that the two sides could end the dispute with an agreement, the judge called in SM Entertainment’s CEO Kim Young Min and each side’s lawyers for an arbitration session that lasted around an hour. However, it ended in failure with both sides doing nothing but reaffirm the differences in their positions.
JYJ’s lawyer met with Star News after exiting the building and confirmed that the arbitration had failed by stating, “There were no results.” The lawyer added, “We did nothing but state our opinions and reaffirm our stances,” and “The differences in the two sides’ stances haven’t changed.”
It is said that the judging panel urged the two sides to come to an agreement during the session. The next court date has not been set, and the verdict has been postponed indefinitely. The reasoning was to give the two sides enough time to discuss and settle the dispute. This has made it almost impossible to determine when this lawsuit, which began three years ago in 2009, will finally come to an end.
SM Entertainment and JYJ’s lawyers have met several times since May, 2011 to come to an agreement and settle the issue. However, the final arbitration session of 2011 ended in failure, causing the case to be brought back to court. Though both sides gave their final pleas in May of this year, a clear difference in their stances could be seen. A final verdict was to be made this month but another arbitration session was held as the courts wish for both sides to end this dispute in an agreement.
