JYJ’s Park Yoochun has been chosen as the man with broad shoulders who netizens would like to lean on.

The community portal site DC Inside held a poll from the 15th to the 22nd with the topic ‘Which male star has broad shoulders you’d like to lean on?’, and Park Yoochun came out on top.

Receiving 32,186 of the 64,820 votes (49.7%), Park Yoochun has straight, broad shoulders that gave birth to the nickname ‘right-angled shoulders’, and they help him pull off any look from formal to casual attire.

Second place went to Rain with 28,036 votes (44.8%). Rain, who has shoulders so broad that he has the nickname ‘Pacific shoulders’, has captured the hearts of women with his muscular body.

Third place went to the swimmer Park Tae Hwan with 826 votes (1.3%) for his muscular body and broad shoulders.

The top three were followed by Lee Min Ho, Kim Soo Hyun and So Ji Sub.

 JYJ’s Kim Junsu and Ok Joo Hyun have made their mark as the musical actors with the greatest ticket power.

On the 7th, ticket reservation site Interpark released the results of their ‘Golden Ticket Awards’, which names the actors and productions with the greatest ticket power in 2012. In the musical genre, EMK Musical Company’s ‘Elisabeth’ came out on top, with Kim Junsu and Ok Joo Hyun chosen as the actor and actress with the greatest ticket power.

In 2012, Kim Junsu played Tod in the musical ‘Elisabeth’ and reinterpreted the character signifying death in his own way, receiving love from both fans and musical lovers alike. As his third production since ‘Mozart!’ and ‘Tears of Heaven’, ‘Elisabeth’ has helped Kim Junsu lose his image as an idol singer and make his mark as a talented musical actor.

Kim Junsu, who topped the rankings of the musical genre, also came out on top in the concert category as well. This was the result of Kim Junsu’s busy schedule as a solo singer in 2012 as he released an album and held his ‘JYJ Junsu 1st Asia Tour’ and ‘XIA Ballad & Musical Concert’ this year.

The ‘Golden Ticket Awards’ differs from other awards ceremonies as it has no judging panel and choses its nominees and winners based on ticket sales and audience participation (voting poll) in the past year. It is a ‘Award chosen by the audience members’ that is given to the year’s most popular productions and actors. On its eighth year since beginning in 2005, the public-oriented awards ceremony held its voting poll from the 24th of December till the 6th of January on the Interpark website, with a total of 17,708 participants.

Many viewers including JYJ Jaejoong was surprised by fans’ participation in government event as well as the mosaic picture made by 1580 photos that confirm the vote.

 JYJ fans made a mosaic with 1580 photos from voting proof shots.

 

April 12 was a day of parliament election in Korea and many celebrities encouraged their fans to vote.

 

A day before the election day, JYJ’s Jaejoong also encouraged his fans to vote through message on twitter, “Everyone, please vote for the parliament election. Please take a photo after a vote.”

 

After fans started spread the word, a total 1580 photos were gathered after completing the votes and created a mosaic.

 

Many viewers including JYJ’s Jaejoong was surprised by fans’ participation as well as the mosaic picture made by 1580 photos of their proof shots.

 

Even Seoul city Mayor Park Won Soon was touched by JYJ Fans. On Twitter, Mayor Park Won Soon left his reflection “It is really touching. I support you guys.”

Group JYJ has been voted as the number 1 Best Idol Star of the year by netizens.

In the “2011 Best Icon Awards”  that was held on the KBS homepage from 8 Dec till the noon of 28 December, JYJ emerged as number 1 in the “Best Idol Star Category”, a proof of their popularity.

This voting saw 4 categories, “Best Idol Star”, “Best Segment Of Gag Concert”, “Best Casting In A KBS Drama” and “Mission With The Highest Qualifications Of A Male”.

JYJ, with a total of 58,357 votes, beat Lee Seung Gi (53,560 votes), to emerge as the “Best Idol Star“. Much attention was focused on this intense competition between the “Nation’s Younger Brother” Lee Seung Gi and JYJ, with the latter coming out on top.

News] JYJ Fans Promote Voting for Seoul’s Mayoral Election and Album “In Heaven”

For October 26′s Seoul’s Mayoral election, many celebrities showed proof of voting but what about their fans?

JYJ fans gathered to post a relay of “proof” shots of their voting activity on an online community. In these photos you can see the blue sign that directs voters to the voting location along with fans’ hands holding up JYJ’s latest album “In Heaven” next to the sign. One photo that stands out in particular is a picture of Jaejoong’s life-size cardboard cut-out standing next to a large voting location sign.


Netizens commented, “This is very cool,” “What an awesome idea,” and “That Jaejoong photo is the funniest.”

Members of JYJ couldn’t vote themselves since they are currently in Spain for their European Tour. It’s great, though, to see fans come out to do the double work of promoting both voting and JYJ’s new album. JYJ is finding it hard to appear on television to promote their album but it seems that fan support and creativity will really encourage the members.

[News] 110720 Nominees For The 2011 Seoul Drama Awards

The preliminaries for the 2011 Seoul Drama Awards (SDA)have been conducted and the results are out!

The organizing committee for the SDAs announced on July 20th at 11 AM, the results of the preliminaries through a press conference. Under the theme of “Drama Road”, this year’s SDA ceremony has been confirmed to cover 204 works from 37 different countries.

Non-Korean dramas up for awards include the US mini-series “The Walking Dead”, British mini-series “Luther”, Chinese full-length piece “Three Kingdoms”, and German short film “Shades of Happiness”.

From the domestic works side, there are the mini-series “Dream High” and “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho” and the full length projects “Twinkle Twinkle Shining”.

In the Male Actors category, the nominees include Iris Elba from “Luther” and Chun Jenbin from “Three Kingdoms”. In the Female Actress category, Maria Furtwängler from “Shaes Of Happiness”, Laura Linney from “The Big C”, and Na Moon-hee from the one-act play “Grandma, it’s Me”.

In the Hallyu Drama section, there will be seven awards given out. Nominated projects must have been aired from April 1st of 2010 to April 30th of 2011, with exports of $3 million or more. The contenders are “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Baker King Kim Tak-gu”, “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, “Dream High”, “Dongyi”, “Queen of Reversals”, “My Princess”, “Kim Su-ro”, “Giant”, “Athena: Goddess of War”, “Secret Garden”, “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho”, and “Bad Guy”.

Of course the category that always attracts special interest is the Grand Award for best actor and best actress.

The male nominees are Jang Geun-seok for “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Park Yoo-chun for “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, Song Seung-heon for “My Princess”, Hyunbin for “Secret Garden”, and Kang Ji-hwan for “Coffee House”.

The female nominees are Park Min-young for “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Moon Geun-young for “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Kim Tae-hee for “My Princess”, Lee Yo-won for “49 Days”, and Ha Ji-won for “Secret Garden”.

The soundtrack songs up for recognition are “Found It” by JYJ from “Sungkyungwan Scandal”, “Please My Bus” by Jang Geun-seok from “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, Jungyup’s “Nothing Happened” from “49 Days”, Baek Ji-young’s “That Woman” from “Secret Garden”, and “The One” by Lee Seung-cheol for “Baker King Kim Tak-goo”.

The final results will depend 70% on the votes of the 1 million international Hallyu fans signed up for en.korea.com and 30% on the international broadcasting contents buyers’ votes.

This is with the exception of the Hallyu Drama category’s Director Award and Writer Award, which will be determined by the votes of domestic reporters.
