[Trans] 111031 Finding Out About What Spain Thinks Of JYJ’s First European Concert

[Trans] 111031 Finding Out About What Spain Thinks Of JYJ’s First European Concert

We were able to see that JYJ’s European fanbase continues to expand as time passes.

On the 29th, JYJ held a mini concert at the LA FARGA Convention Centre’s performance hall and sang ‘Empty’ and ‘Get Out’ to 5,000 cheering audience members.

Though it was a paid performance that showcased only two songs, people flocked to secure seats, showing the power of K-pop once more.

We asked the European fans who were waiting in line for the concert about JYJ’s secret to success. They all praised the group as they said, “JYJ’s intense dance moves and live skills have us hooked.”

Here is a Q&A session with their European fans.

Silvia Sanchez (17, student)

-How did you come to know JYJ?

▶In 2008, my friend sent me the ‘Mirotic’ album and told me to listen to it, and from that moment on, I became a fan. I started searching online for their videos and music and now, I’m such a big fan of JYJ. Their appearances in dramas made me like them more and I like them all so much that I make sure to check up on videos of them every day.

-Who’s your favorite member?

▶Jaejoong. His voice and the expression he has when he sings is so hot.

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I really wanted to go to Korea because I like JYJ so much, but I don’t have the money to go there. I’m so happy and thankful that they decided to come all the way to Spain to perform. My friends and I couldn’t sleep for the past couple of nights because we were preparing gifts for the members. We got Junsu a football shirt with the number ’12′ on it while we got ordinary t-shirts for the other members. We hope they wear them and we would like to see them wearing the shirts.

Noemi Blaha (30, secretary)

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I’ve been a fan of JYJ for the past three years. I like them so much but because I work, I don’t have much time to spare on other things. I only got three hours of sleep because of today’s concert. I’m so excited and nervous. I still can’t believe that they’ve come here to sing for us. They’re great singers, but they’re also very humorous and it was a great performance.

Charo (18, student)

-How did you come to know JYJ?

▶I was surfing the net a year ago when I randomly began searching up Korean singers, and I ended up clicking on a photo of Jaejoong and listening to their songs. Since then, I’ve been active as a JYJ fan. I like Junsu now too because his voice is so nice.

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I spent an entire month preparing banners for JYJ’s concert with other fans. We paid for the production of the banner and put them up ourselves. There are over 50 banners hanging within the city of Barcelona that contain messages from JYJ’s fans, and we travelled through the other cities of Spain for a month, putting banners up for JYJ. I bought concert tickets after staying up all night for two days in a row as I waited in line. I was so excited for the entire two-hour train ride here and I’m still feeling that excitement as I wait for the concert to start.

Maria Amparo (24, student)

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I’m a fan of TVXQ. I like JYJ’s music and I loved watching ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’. I’m planning on downloading and watching ‘Protect the Boss’ as well. I really like K-pop and I was so excited to buy my ticket three weeks ago. When I first heard the news, I was so surprised and I couldn’t believe they were coming to Spain. I’m very thankful to them for flying all the way here.

Rocio Maldonado (14, student)

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I’ve been a fan of K-pop for the past five years. I’ve been a fan of JYJ since they were a part of TVXQ and I’m a fan of Junsu. I’m planning on visiting Korea. I want to live in Korea with JYJ. I’ve waited three years to see this concert. This is going to be my first K-pop concert, and I’m so glad that it’s a concert by JYJ.

Sandra Vidail (24, office worker)

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶I recently became a fan of JYJ when I came across one of their songs. This is my first K-pop concert and I can’t wait to see what it will be like. I’m excited to think that I’ll personally get to see those powerful dance moves that I’ve been watching on Youtube. I’m a fan of Yoochun. I can’t believe that I’ll be able to see him smile in person. I want to marry him.

Oscar (19, student)

-What are your feelings on coming to today’s concert?

▶It’s been half a year since I first came across JYJ on the internet and I really like their songs. Most of all, their powerful performances are ones that aren’t easily found in Spain. They’re great singers and I like all three members. I listen to JYJ’s songs all the time these days. I’m especially addicted to their Korean songs because they have such great melodies and beats.

[TRANS] 111027 JYJ Fans’ Voting Encouragement Project Becomes A Hot Topic As They ‘Prove They’ve Voted With CDs’

Posted on November 1, 2011

With people uploading pictures they took of themselves to prove that they had voted for the next mayor of Seoul on the 26th, the voting encouragement project by JYJ’s fans instantly became a hot topic.

A photo that a fan took at a polling station was recently uploaded on an online community. The collection of photos that was posted alongside it was full of blue arrows with the word ‘polling station’ written upon them. But the faces of the fans who took the photos could not be seen.

The fans used JYJ’s CDs to prove they had voted instead of taking a photo with them in it like most celebrities do. The CDs that were used for the were different versions of JYJ’s first Korean album, as well as photos of JYJ and a stand-up cutout of JYJ.

Netizens who saw this left comments such as, “A great event, this is awesome”, “Like singer, like fan. How did they come up with such an idea?”, “Some of the photos made me laugh. This is unique”, and “The cutout of Jaejoong is the funniest.”

The European fans said that it was because “we don’t know when we will next be able to see JYJ in concert,”  and therefore waited on the streets for 28 hours. Other fans who wanted to give Junsu a present for his upcoming birthday prepared a special football jersey, and took a photograph of it as proof. This passionate atmosphere was communicated to the rest of the world via JYJ fan pages as well as twitter.

[TRANS] 111026 JYJ’s Fans Publish A Newspaper Advertisement “Calling For Broadcasted Appearances For JYJ”

[TRANS] 111026 JYJ’s Fans Publish A Newspaper Advertisement “Calling For Broadcasted Appearances For JYJ”

JYJ’s fans have recently published a newspaper article that calls for broadcasted appearances for JYJ.

The reason the fanclub gave for publishing the advertisement was, “JYJ are currently excluded from appearing on variety shows and music programs of most broadcasting companies. The power behind the unjust reason for their exclusion is mighty.

Since leaving SM Entertainment, JYJ have been locked in a lawsuit with SM. Broadcasting companies have been using this as the reason why JYJ have been denied appearances on broadcasted programs, but JYJ’s side is claiming that these companies are excluding JYJ because of SM’s influence.

JYJ have been unable to appear on a single music program of any of the nation’s cable companies, let alone of the three major broadcasting companies.

JYJ are currently in a ‘confirmation of exclusive contract’s invalidity’ lawsuit with SM Entertainment on the grounds of a ‘unjust contract’. The Courts laid down a verdict in both October, 2009 and February 2011 that stated that SM had to ensure that they would not interfere with JYJ’s independent activities in the entertainment industry till the overall verdict was made on the lawsuit.

NEWS 111010 JYJ’s “In Heaven” Is Still Blocked From Music Programs

[News] 111010 JYJ’s “In Heaven” Is Still Blocked From Music Programs

Fans had high hopes for “In Heaven“, but it seems the restrictions imposed on JYJ are still going strong, as the trio recently revealed that their album still can’t be performed on air (despite charting at the top for four weeks in a row now).

Representatives of JYJ revealed, “We have never received an offer to perform on music programs. Even if we bring the album with us to meet them, they never call back. The album is creating waves on the Hanteo chart right now but it’s not being reflected onto the music program charts, which we find difficult to understand.”

They continued, “Music programs weren’t able to give a logical and fair reason as to why they were rejecting JYJ, but it seems they just simply don’t care anymore and are acting like they don’t notice what’s going on.”

Despite the cold treatment, the boys are going strong, selling out their European tour and being invited to foreign festivals left and right.

NEWS Seoul Metropolitan Government Apologizes To JYJ Fans

NEWS  Seoul Metropolitan Government Apologizes To JYJ Fans

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) apologized to JYJ fans on its official Twitter on October 6, amidst protests and suspicion that a recent web banner used by the SMG is too similar to an earlier advertisement banner created by JYJ fans.

Image of SMG’s banner, from the Twitter of @crocus0904

The protests started on October 6 at 1:30 PM, when a JYJ fan tweeted that the SMG banner, which reads, “Seoul Supports Our Youth” (Seo-ul-i chungchoon-eul eung-won-ham-ni-da) bears a remarkable resemblance to an earlier ad banner created by JYJ fans, both in layout and slogan, which stated, “JYJ, We Support Your Youth” (Tang-shin-e chungchoon-eul eung-won-ham-ni-da).

With the onslaught of fan protests, SMG tweeted its denial of plagiarism at 2:30 PM on the same day. “The slogan ‘Seoul Supports Our Youth’ on our banner is a common expression that has been used since our earlier projects which has always aimed to realize dreams and hopes. The character font is also a handwriting font publicly shared on Naver. The campaign using this banner is not related to JYJ in any way. We sincerely apologize to JYJ fans for the misunderstandings caused. We respect the opinions of JYJ fans and will be replacing this banner.”

SMG also tweeted, “Yes, we agree that the JYJ banner was created through the tears of the fans. We are touched. We have confirmed that the banner was created through the request of the webpage design agency, and the designer in charge of the banner had totally no idea of the JYJ campaign. Because of the very strong similarities interpreted from the meanings of the slogan, once again we would like to resolve the misunderstandings and offer our sincere apologies.”

The tweet was also directly sent to @circus*****, @mad****, @JYJsPie**** , Twitter accounts of fans who first voiced their objections to SMG. Towards the apology, @mad**** tweeted, “SMG tweeted that they would replace the banner. It’s not my intention to make this a big matter. I hope this whole matter would end now…” On the other hand, @JYJsPie**** continued to argue, insisting, “Please show us more detailed examples of SMG using the banner earlier in the past.”

Reactions in the Twitter-sphere about this incident are mixed. @sunxiahine**** praised, “An efficient way to settle this matter,” while @pedd**** protested, “Without obtaining our approval, they illegally used (our) text, how can there be no relation (between the two banners) at all?! This is clearly an ad that was copied; it’s plagiarism!”

The JYJ banner was part of an advertising campaign organized by fans in support of JYJ when they sued SM Entertainment for unlawful contract practices. The campaign lasted one month from January 27, with banners appearing on 120 buses in Seoul and other major Korean cities (Gwangju, Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan), and reportedly cost 150 million won (~$127,000 USD), gathered from fan donations.

Translation 110907 ‘Let’s Get JYJ On Music Bank!!

[Trans] 110907 “Let’s Get JYJ On Music Bank!” Fans Are On The Move

With JYJ(Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu)’s first Korean album set to be released soon, fans have begun a movement to get the group on broadcasted music programs.

It has been found that JYJ’s fans plan to buy their albums at stores that are included in the album sales count of KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’. Music Bank’s K-Chart Album Sales points are given according to the rankings from 1 to 100 on Hanteo Charts’ weekly nationwide album sales as well as the weekly album sales from Korea’s two major album distributors Synnara and Hottracks. Each album is then ranked proportionally to the total sales and given points accordingly.

But there is separate reason why JYJ’s fans are focusing on ‘Music Bank’. It is because KBS stated in May that JYJ were unable to appear on ‘Music Bank’ as they did not have an official album released at the time, which is the criteria for singers who wish to appear on the show. This means that when JYJ release their new album, there is no official reason that KBS can give to reject JYJ.

At the time of the announcement, C-JeS Entertainment stated, “We thank KBS for their official statement that says they will allow JYJ to appear on their music program when they release an official album,” and “Even just by looking at the recent events, anyone can surmise that the artiste can’t help but be in the weaker position as their appearances on broadcasted programs are blocked for various reasons.”

The upcoming album will contain songs that are composed by the members and were first released during JYJ’s world tour that began after they dropped their first worldwide album ‘The Beginning’ last October.

The title song ‘In heaven’ is a sad R&B ballad that is written by Kim Jaejoong and the album will consist of ten tracks that include ‘Get Out’ and ‘You’re’.

INFO JYJ FANS SEEK A COLLECTIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

[INFO] JYJ Fans Seek A Collective Dispute Resolution

“JYJ Fans Seek a Collective Dispute Mediation”

We, worldwide JYJ fans, sustained serious damages from the sudden and unexplainable cancellation of JYJ’s TV appearance in Jeju Island scheduled on July 20, 2011 by KBS-Jeju (Korea Broadcasting System- Jeju). Those who made arrangements to actually visit Jeju Island to see the performance of JYJ incurred substantial financial damages during this process. We, hereby, plan to pursue an official restitution for these damages. We believe that KBS and others who are responsible for using deceptive advertising, bait and switch, and breach of implied contract by canceling it four days prior to the event should pay for consumers’ damages with sincere apologies. We plan to use a “collective dispute mediation” in Korea and file a official complaint with Korean Consumer Agency.

1. Why Consumer Collective Dispute Mediation?

In Korea, when a group of consumers sustain the same or similar type of injuries, they have a right to request the Consumer Settlement Commission for a collective resolution of dispute since the Framework Act on Consumers became effective in March of 2007. The collective dispute resolution is more cost effective and faster than class action lawsuits as there will be no fees incurred to consumers and it saves time when a representative is selected for the group. There is always a possibility that the outcome of mediation is not successful. Additionally, this claim covers direct financial losses not the emotional pains and sufferings of consumers. However, we will try our best to represent the rights of JYJ fans (consumers).

2. How This Works?

•We need at least 50 consumers who can prove their financial damages such as cancellation fees, airline tickets, lodgings, rental car, and any other direct costs related to the travel arrangements from the cancellation of JYJ’s scheduled appearance.
•A representative will be selected from the victims.
•We file a complaint, supporting evidence, and power of attorney through the Korea Consumer Agency.

3. Who Can Participate?

If you experienced and could prove financial losses from the cancellation of JYJ’s Jeju appearance on July 20, 2011, you can and should participate. Both Koreans and non Koreans can participate. If you think you are eligible, please send us an email at jyjjejuconsumer@gmail.com. In the email, please include your name, contact information, and types and estimated costs of financial loss. In the mean time, please gather the supporting evidence to prove these losses. Once we identify the victims and estimated total amount, we will get back to you for power of attorney and supporting documents. A representative will be selected from the victims. Visit our blog, http://jyjfan.egloos.com/ for more information and updates.

Your participation is very important. For more information about collective dispute resolution, view the Frame Act on Consumers at the website of Fair Trade Commission of Korea. We are going to file this claim through the Korea Consumer Agency as this collective dispute mediation request should come from consumer organizations, government, or Korea Consumer Agency not from individuals. Please do not send the documents yet to protect your privacy.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact jyjjejuconsumers@gmail.com or visit http://jyjfan.egloos.com/.

ARTICLE SHARING Let JYJ Appear On TV

[ARTICLE SHARING] Let JYJ appear on TV

JYJ became honorary ambassadors for Jeju Island as part of its bid to become one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. JYJ started activities to promote the island and encouraged us, the fans, to vote for Jeju.
As we love JYJ so much, and we also like Korea from the bottom of our hearts, we started voting for Jeju Island in order to help Korea and make JYJ happy. We did this believing and trusting in JYJ because we know that the boys are always more than happy to help others. Spreading the love for Jeju Island was something that they did from their hearts.
We are a group of fans from Spain that truly love and follow all JYJ’s activities. Because of them we have learnt to love Korea and its wonderful people. We don’t understand how it is possible that, just four days before their appearance on the KBS special program, they have received a notification of cancellation. We can’t just sit and wait anymore. This situation needs to stop. JYJ have been messed around once again. They have given their all, and this is what they get in return. They are not puppets, they are human beings, they are artists. And we, the fans, are also human beings, we have been teased as well.
There are two girls from Spain that were supposed to travel to Jeju Island to see JYJ performing live and give them support. Now they have just lost their dream. There were also lots of fans travelling from Japan as well. Does anybody from KBS care about this? We feel very disappointed. JYJ doesn’t deserve this kind of disrespectful treatment, neither do we the fans. We are complaining about being used this way, we feel cheated. It’s not right to use JYJ, or any other artist, to get what you need from them, and then just cast them aside.
Please, show to the world that South Korea is a great nation and let JYJ appear on TV. Stop blocking them! This shouldn’t even happen.
By Olivia Hernndez

Translation 110713 Part 2; Kim Jaejoong Is Proud of His Fans, Jokingly Said That His Tears Were Used Up

[Trans] 110713 Part 2: Kim Jaejoong Is Proud Of His Fans, Jokingly Said That His Tears Were Used Up‏

Unknowingly, JYJ has debuted for 7 years and probably of the reason that they have went through many obstacles together with the fans, they are even getting similar to each other with their compassionate hearts.

Sharing the love that they have gotten from the fans to others who needed help, a part of JYJ’s concert income from every performances was donated to charity organization. Compassionate JYJ is the model to the fans and fans extended their kindness through activities such as rice and blood donation and organising a charity drive for heart patients.

Upon hearing the praises for JYJ fans from the reporter, Kim Jaejoong said with a contented look, “I’m very proud. And I do know of some good deeds that was not publicized. Looking at them makes us determined to do more good deeds and this is really very fulfilling.”

During Asia showcases, world tour performances and fanmeetings, it is a common sight to see fans crying due to their unchanging love for the trio JYJ and everyone’s cause for tearing is usually due to Kim Jaejoong. Members have ever said in a programme about crybaby Kim Jaejoong, revealing “Kim Jaejoong really loves to cry and once he starts crying, it won’t stop. It is just like a tap being left open.” To this, Kim Jaejoong explained, “Actually I used to be a crybaby. There was a period of time where I kept crying. Recently the tears lessened, it feels as though the tears have been used up,” emphasizing that he is no longer a boy who loves to cry.

Kim Jaejoong was known to be the member who loves to observe fans’ reactions. When being asked by the reporter about the reason, he blinked and said, “I am very curious what everyone is talking about. There were fans who liked us since we debuted, many fans who later on likes JYJ and 30 or 40 years old fans who appeared after Yoochun acted in ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. There are even teens who chose us amongst the many idol groups. The age range of the fans were enlarged and it is very novelty. Although there are people who find it a hassle to observe fans’ reactions while busy at work, but to me, it wasn’t like that. I really wished to know what are fans thinking about, talking about.”

Translation 110628 Shrieking ‘Oppa Troops’ Have Become Benevolent ‘Good Deed Troops’

[Trans] 110628 Shrieking ‘Oppa Troops’ Have Become Benevolent ‘Good Deed Troops’

The fandom culture, that used to chase after stars, is experiencing a change.

The generation of ‘Sasaeng Fans’(Fans who chase stars’ private lives) and just writing letters to stars is over.

Recently, fans have been spreading the culture of giving back to the community and getting their stars a better image and more publicity.

◆Rice instead of flowers… Even creating a scholarship fund in their celebrity’s name

These days, it’s hard to find ordinary flower stands at musical concerts or concert venues. This is because fans have been replacing these flower stands with ‘rice stands’ through donation drives.

At the venue of the successful musical ‘Mozart!’, the entrance of the building is decorated by the ‘rice stands’ donated by Kim Junsu’s fans. ‘Rice stands’ from other stars such as Eom Gi Joon, Song Chang Ui and Park Eun Tae fill the entrance as well. These ‘rice stands’ have been distributed to social welfare centers, retirement homes and to the elderly who are living alone.

Kim Hyun Joong’s fanclub became a hot topic last year when it created a scholarship fund with their favorite star’s name titled ‘The Kim Hyun Joong Scholarship Fund’. After donating 14 million Won to a childcare center, they have been monetarily supporting students who leave the center due to their age.

Fans of JYJ’s Park Yoochun have been donating at regular intervals since 2010. They collected a total of 40 million Won this year and after donating 10 million Won to a social welfare center last year, they’ve been helping child patients since then.

Lee Minho’s fanclub ‘Mizuno’ donated 20 million Won to celebrate his birthday. A different fanclub of Lee Minho also donated alms to a devastated district through Unicef and they’ve been avid supporters of the Green Energy campaign.

◆Take care of our star..Sending lunchboxes to staff

When stars spend the night filming on location, fans prepare lunch boxes for the members of the staff as well. Everyone knows about fans making lunch boxes for their celebrities to ensure that they don’t skip their meals, but recently, fans have begun preparing lunch boxes for staff members as well. They take care of their stars’ image by leaving a message with the stars’ names on each lunch box.

These lunch boxes are delivered to a variety of locations such as concert venues, and filming locations for movies or CFs. At the press conference of ‘You’ve Fallen For Me’, which features CN Blue’s Jung Yong Hwa, fans impressed the reporters and production company crew by providing everyone with lunch boxes.

Not only do these fans help maintain the image of their stars, but they also help the morale of the star. As more fans buy lunch boxes in large quantities for their fans, new ‘support lunchbox businesses’ have sprung up.

◆Money is no issue… They even create newspaper ads

It has become a natural thing for fans to celebrate stars’ birthdays or promote albums through advertisements. Fanclubs collect money for a variety of mediums such as newspapers, buses, and electronic scoreboards.

‘Girls’ Generation’ fans have been garnering attention for making newspaper ads for the birthdays of the members. Last year, their fanclub ‘HwaSuEunHwa’ created newspaper ads for members such as Seohyun, Sunny, Soo Young, Jessica and Yoona.

When Yoochun, Jaejoong and Junsu, who have transformed from ‘TVXQ’ to ‘JYJ’, released their music essay in January, fans hired 120 buses across the nation to hang advertisements for the group on the side of the vehicles. To make it happen, it was said that the fans collected a total of 200 million Won. After this, JYJ fans also placed ads in 21 subway stations.

A broadcasting representative stated, “Though the current mature culture of the fans who think of their star’s image is desirable, there is still fierce competition amongst the fans in certain areas,” and “I hope that the fandom culture becomes something mature and truly for the star and his or her well-being.”
