[News] 140806 KBS deems songs by JYJ, HyunA, and Yenny (HA:TFELT) unfit for broadcast

jyjunfitmontage

KBS has deemed songs by JYJ, HyunA, Yenny (HA:TFELT), and more as unfit for broadcast.

According to KBS on August 6, 14 songs failed to satisfy the broadcast network’s rules and regulations in terms of content. Among those were “Back Seat” from JYJ’s second album ‘Just Us’, “Blacklist” and “French Kiss” from HyunA’s ‘A Talk’, and HA:TFELT’s “Bond” from her solo debut album.

The reasons given for the songs being branded as unsuitable for broadcast include the sexually suggestive nature of “Back Seat” (specifically the line “Put you on my back seat”), the line “Do it” in HyunA’s “French Kiss”, the inappropriate language and curse words in “Blacklist”, and the expression “God damn” in Yenny’s “Bond”.

KBS also banned rock band Unchained’s “Paris” and “Talebearing” and Rose Garden’s “You’re Not My Style”, citing the lyrics as harmful to the mental development of juveniles.

[PETITION] “Open Investigation into the IAGOC’s Unilateral Exclusion of JYJ from Incheon Asian Games Opening Ceremony”

jyjincheonpic

Call to action: Open investigation into the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee’s unilateral exclusion of JYJ from Incheon Asian Games Opening Ceremony

The Asian Games is the most prestigious games organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, bringing together over 10,000 athletes, team officials, and technical delegates from 45 nations every four years. The 2014 Asian Games will be held in the city of Incheon, South Korea this coming September. To promote the games across Asia, the IAGOC appointed Korean superstars JYJ as honorary ambassadors to the 2014 Incheon Asian Games last February 20, 2013. In the words of the IAGOC, “we appointed JYJ as the honorary ambassador, whose popularity is well recognized all around the Asia, to encourage the rest of the Asia to know more about the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.” Fulfilling their roles for one and a half years, JYJ performed extensive promotional activities for the Incheon Asian Games, such as travelling to Guangzhou, China and Hanoi, Vietnam to put on promotional showcases. They even sang the Games’ official theme song “ONLY ONE”, being the face of the Games on promotional advertisements throughout Asia. They have likewise filmed multiple televised commercials to better promote the upcoming Games.

On July 1, 2014, however, JYJ was neither invited nor informed of the press conference that the IAGOC held, and were unilaterally dropped from the opening and closing ceremonies’ list of performers through press releases, despite several attempts by JYJ’s management C-JeS Entertainment to clarify the matter with the Committee as the Service Contract specifically included performance by JYJ on the opening and closing ceremonies. Quite surprisingly, this incident came about after it was recently announced that SM Entertainment, JYJ’s previous management company, was named a sponsor for the Incheon 2014 Asian Paralympic Games. A boyband from SM Entertainment, who had no previous connection to the Incheon Asian Games and not once promoted it will instead be performing a pop-song of their own at the opening and closing ceremonies and also appeared at the press conference in lieu of JYJ. On the other hand, JYJ, the Games’ honorary ambassadors, are barred from performing the official theme song of the Incheon Asian Games, ‘Only One’, which they sang and promoted specifically for the Incheon Asian Games.

On top of this, the IAGOC has been selling opening ceremony tickets since December, 2013 at the sky-high price of 1 Million Korean Won, or approximately $900 USD, using JYJ’s name and saying that JYJ will perform during the opening ceremony. Since JYJ are the official ambassadors, it is reasonable for anyone buying tickets to opening ceremony to expect that they would be performing. As JYJ are limited in their promotional activities due to an invisible hand blocking them, fans of JYJ still bought these tickets and booked international flights to Incheon, hoping to catch a glimpse of JYJ on a fair stage. This now has become impossible as the IAGOC’s anomalous acts in the form of a shameless and fraudulent bait-and-switch scheme. For more than a year, the Committee has made over four billion Asians believe that JYJ is the face of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games through their advertisements and roadshows which JYJ participated in. Yet, they did not bother to mention the name JYJ at the press conference and have dropped JYJ from the list of performers during the ceremonies. Instead, another boyband suddenly appeared at the press conference and in the advertisements instead of JYJ. As of the writing of this petition letter, the official tour agency of the IAGOC which is responsible for selling tour packages to foreigners, is still selling opening ceremony tickets and tour packages using JYJ’s name and thereby continuing to knowingly mislead fans and the public.

The actions of the IAGOC have drawn worldwide criticism from spectators to journalists, tarnishing the reputation of the Asian Games and bringing concern regarding whether or not the IAGOC is capable of holding a fair competition for athletes who have trained all their lives for this one stage. If a mere corporate donation caused the IAGOC to drop their honorary ambassadors in such a disgraceful and public manner, we, the spectators and consumers of the Incheon Asian Games, cannot trust them to conduct fair play for athletes during the Games.

We join JYJ’s management in its plea to IAGOC to keep the promise with their Honorary Ambassadors JYJ. We also believe that the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Committee as well as the Olympic Council of Asia are organized to fulfill the public interest, which is based upon loyalty and trust.

We call upon the Olympic Council of Asia to perform an open investigation into the IAGOC’s actions to ensure an untainted Asian Games and bring justice and fair play to performers and athletes consistent with the spirit of the Games themselves.

[TRANS] 140701 “External Influence Suspected” vs “It’s Not A Political Issue” … The IAG-JYJ Controversy

jyjiag

JYJ, who have been active as the honorary ambassadors of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, may not be able to appear in the opening and closing ceremonies of the event. Although they have actively promoted the games for the past year and a half, it seems as though their names have been scratched off the invitation list.

From this arose the ‘external influence controversy’ that JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu)’s status as former members of TVXQ has blocked them from attending the opening and closing ceremonies. TVXQ went to court in 2009 because of a contract problem with SM Entertainment.

With news that SM Entertainment’s EXO will perform at the opening ceremony of the Incheon Asian Games in September, the controversy is gaining speed as being highly plausible.

Director Jang Jin, who is in charge of both the event and the ceremonies, spoke up about this during the press conference that was held on the 1st and said, “We have not made any announcements on JYJ’s participation in the opening and closing ceremonies because their appearance has not been confirmed yet. If Kim Junsu participates in the performance in the second act that involves musical stars, his act could overlap with JYJ’s, so we’re in the final stages of arbitration. It would be great to see them at the ceremony.” He continued to state, “JYJ have done so much for the events, acting as the honorary ambassadors for the past two years. There are a few details that need to be ironed out but it is definitely not a political issue.”

A representative of the IAG’s committee also revealed in a phone conversation with xportsnews that, “We’re currently signing contracts with the celebrities who will be appearing in the ceremony. JYJ’s appearance has not been confirmed yet. It will probably be confirmed in two or three weeks.”

jyjiag1

However, JYJ’s agency C-JeS Entertainment released an official statement on this day and pressured the committee by saying, “The IAG must follow through with the promise they made with us.”

C-JeS revealed parts of their contract as they stated, “In the process of discussing JYJ’s role as honorary ambassadors, the IAG’s committee promised, ‘In the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as press conferences with foreign press, JYJ will be given priority over others when Korean singers are needed.’ At the time, the head of the committee and those in charge of promotional activities promised that JYJ would be able to appear in the opening and closing ceremonies as the finale act.”

C-JeS ended with, “We hope that the Incheon Asian Games’ breach of contract is not a result of the illogical and unfair external influences that JYJ have faced in the past.”

JYJ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu left TVXQ and SM Entertainment in 2009. When they began holding promotional activities as JYJ, their broadcasted activities were severely restricted. In July of 2013, the Fair Trade Commission ruled an issue correction order against SM Entertainment and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industries for interfering with JYJ’s broadcasted activities. SM Entertainment is currently in charge of EXO and TVXQ.

Because of this, questions are being raised on whether external influences are in play for an event that is supposed to be an Asian celebration that brings 45 countries together.

While working as the honorary ambassadors of the Incheon Asian Games, JYJ have released the games’ official theme song ‘ONLY ONE’ and shot a music video. They also filmed a no-guarantee commercial and participated in promotional events, which included showcase events in Hanoi, Vietnam and Guangzhou, China last year.

While the song titled “Do My Hair” was already featured in the first episode, the singer’s identity was not revealed. The mysterious female has now been confirmed to be Ailee, and a representative of the drama introduced the track, “Like the story, the song has caught the viewers’ attention and helped them fall into the mood of the drama.”

With its soft and emotional guitar sound, the song is a perfect fit for the love story of Dong Soo (Lee Bum Soo) and Shin Hye (Oh Yeon Soo). As they spend time together, their feelings develop, and Dong Soo becomes the first love of Shin Hye.

Finally, the two meet as young professionals after being separated for years, and the theme song has raised the excitement for the couple’s future romance.

“Do My Hair” was also used as background music for the romance of Heo Young Dal (Kim Jae Joong) and Oh Jung Hee (Baek Jin Hee), and the first meeting between the separated brothers Heo Young Dal and Jang Dong Soo.
