[NEWS] Lotte Duty Free’s “JYJ in Star Avenue” Held Successfully

Duty free shop Lotte Duty Free created a delightful meeting JYJ and their Japanese fans.

On 14 January, at the Dom Art Hall, Lotte Duty Free held the “2012 Lotte Duty Free JYJ in STAR AVENUE” Fan meeting.

Regardless of the cold weather, 2,000 Japanese fans from all over Japan came to Korea to attend this fanmeeting.

“Enter-tour-ment Marketing” is the Korean tourism buisness developed by Lotte Duty Free, combining “Tour” with “Entertainment”, holding hallyu star fan meets and concerts in Korea, a market strategy to attract foreigners to Korea.

Lotte Duty Free’s PR representative Kim Ju Nam said, “Enter-tour-ment Marketing is a strategy in which we heighten the image of Korea in the minds of foreigners by utilizing hallyu stars, and to stimulate the travel industry via shopping, lodging and various tourism industries. 2,000 fans came for this JYJ fanmeeting, and with the upcoming Kim Hyunjoong (Fanmeeting) on 21 January, as well as Jang Geun Suk and Big Bang on 28 January, we expect a total of 7,000 Japanese coming to Korea.”

This fanmeeting which was held on 14 January kicked off with the JYJ Lotte Duty Free promotional video “So I’m Loving You, then followed up with a talk show, mini concert, and a letter of thanks. JYJ performed their hit songs “Get Out,” “In Heaven” and others, their sophisticated choreography drawing passionate cheers from the fans.

Furthermore, there were special events such as a lucky draw in which JYJ gave away their personal items such as jackets and sweaters. This draw was done by selecting seat numbers, and the selected fan would go straight on stage to receive their present as well as take a commemorative photograph. Also, during the talk show, a surprise party was held to celebrate the birthdays of Kim Junsu (1 January) and Kim Jaejoong (26 January).

This 3-hour fanmeeting ended with JYJ’s thank you letters. JYJ read out these letters personally, to thank their fans who came to Korea.

We have now welcomed our second year, standing in front of all of you as JYJ. Looking back on the path that JYJ has walked until now, being able to stand in front of all of you in this moment right now and to sing with all of our strength, you don’t know how thankful I am, and how much happiness it brings me.

There was a time when it felt like I was in deep tunnel with no end. Maybe we might still be in that tunnel. But we will never fear or become faint hearted. The reason is all of you, that shine brightly on us and have given us your hand; because of all of you that are there for us.

Always unchanging, all of you protect JYJ…
We are pulled forward by all of you…you are the support that we have from behind (T/N:so as not to fall). It’s truly all of you. Thank you very much.

Junsu’s Letter

Overcoming all the many challenges, and being able to successfully finish our world tour was because all of you were there for us. Even being able to have come this far seems to be miracle, but this is not the time to get comfortable but time to face all of the world. I think this is the best answer we can give to all the love we are receiving. Meeting all of you today, I am so happy to have another happy memory that I was able to share with all of you. Your smiles are our smiles, our happiness, and JYJ’s driving force.

Even if at this moment we say our goodbyes, until the moment we can meet again please keep this memory close with you and cherish it. We will also cherish this moment, and we will do our best to answer to the love that all of you have given us.

We are very grateful to everyone that came so far to meet us. You are the important people that are always with us, we are so happy to have you with us, and we love you very much.

Yoochun’s Letter

JYJ is able to exist right now because of you. Therefore to meet those expectations, we will continue run without giving up. Even though we can’t see each other all the time, we can feel all of your energies in our hearts. Your unchanging love for us is what makes JYJ best, and no matter what happens, we trust that all of you will be our dependable supporters.

Thanks to the energy you gave us, we are able to walk forward step by step without any fears or doubts. In order to respond to such love and trust, today we will promise to continue to do our best. Thanks to you we are able our every day is happy. Thank you very much.

JYJ, a popular K-pop group, sold half their concert tickets within half an hour. They will be performing in Lima, the capital of Peru, on 11 March.

Perhaps before you read this article, you would be wondering about two things, who is JYJ, and what is this K-pop that they represent. Without being mentioned on the radio, and never having appeared on television programs such as MTV, and their albums are not sold in Peru. Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu, Korean names that are hard for us to pronounce, have created a new record in our country. Their fans created a record of buying half the total number of tickets within 30 minutes for this concert which will be held at Estadio Monumental on 11 March.

According to Carlos Huamán, one of the people who made this concert happen, two of the ticket categories was sold out within the first day.

It is expected that a crowd of 10,000 will be mobilized for the JYJ concert, and this is a historical moment for fans of K-pop, a leading representative of Asian pop culture.

Another noteworthy point is that they will be arriving in Lima on 10 March, and will hold their concert immediately after that.

Data : The previous record for fastest selling tickets was held by the Jonas Brothers in 2009 when tickets for their first show sold out in 5 days.

 After stopping musical and drama related activites for a while, members of popular idol group JYJ is now starting to take another step towards planning for activities related to acting. Park Yoochun has been selected as the male lead for the new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Prince of the Rooftop House” and concrete details on dates and the signing of the actual contract is expected to be completed by this weekend. (T/N: This may not be true since there are articles that refute this)

“Prince of the Rooftop House” is a romantic comedy about a prince from the Chosun era who lost his wife during a war, and travels through time to the modern world to look for love. This role is said to have been created with Park Yoochun in mind even from the planning stages.

Member Kim Jaejoong’s acting activities are easily comparable to Park Yoochun’s. He made his debut last year in SBS’s “Protect the Boss,” and has also received requests to appear in 2-3 dramas, and these have been put up for review and planning as part of his schedule for the first half part of this year.

While Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong focus on the silver screen, member Kim Junsu pulls the attention of the masses to the musical industry. Kim Junsu will be meeting the fans via “Elisabeth,” which will be playing in Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul starting from 8 February. He has been working hard daily in preparation for this first performance since the start of December last year.

These 3 men who are will be active in the drama and musical industries will be coming together as JYJ in March for the South American concert tours.
