[Trans] 111124 Changmin (Tohoshinki), With A Girl He Likes, “My Approach Would Be Instinctive, Just Being Myself”

A popular drama aired on Korea’s SBS, the complete DVD Box for drama “Paradise Ranch” starring Changmin (Tohoshinki) was released on 2 November.

With this, Changmin, who is acting as the lead in a drama for the first time, talks about his feelings when acting in this show, his favourite scenes, his ideal type of girl and newlywed-couple life in relation to the drama, his approach towards girls as well as the episode where Yunho visits him on set, in this official interview which has finally arrived.

◆ ◆ ◆

This is your first starring role in a drama, please tell us how you feel about your acting.

As drama is my first project, before the shooting I was already nervous. This is a kind of work I have never ever done before, so it was difficult. But when the shooting started, I got used to it after a while, and I could have fun with it. The location for the filming was really nice, so that was great too. As for the show, as this was my first challenge so I can’t say that I was confident but compared to my initial acting, thinking “If I did it this way, wouldn’t it better?” was how I decided to look at this.

How did you take on the role of Dong Joo?

I watched similar dramas, and observed characters that were similar to Dong Joo. I studied Korean dramas with contents about arguing with your partner and unknowingly coming to like the other person, such as  “Fantasy Couple” and “Alone in Love.” I also searched for similarities between myself and Dong Joo, and tried to express that.

What are the similarities between yourself and Dong Joo?

Being straightforward in expressing our feelings, and being short-tempered, probably (Laughs). Dong Joo’s emotions fluctuate a lot, and I’m that type as well, and since we’re similar in that way, it was easier to act it out and that was good. Of course, I can’t say that Dong Joo and I are totally the same, but I don’t there was anything that was completely different about the both of us.

Please tell us if there were any scenes that were your favourite, or any lines that left a deep impression on you.

The scene were Dong Joo was changing clothes in Da Ji’s house. Da Ji came into Dong Joo’s room, and said “My father is coming so you have to hide!” This hiding scene. It was an interesting scene to act in. Even though I was half-naked (Laughs), it was a really comical scene so I really enjoyed it.

What was difficult (about shooting the drama)?

The shooting started in winter so it was really cold. In terms of scenes, it was the scene where I was calling my mother while drinking. I’ve never acted drunk before, but I was actually drinking wine as we did the shoot. I was drinking all the way since the morning, and I ended up drunk and that was really difficult. (laughs). However, it was a good experience.

Dong Joo and Yeon Hee had a very tumultuous newlywed-couple life, but please tell us about your ideal girl and newlywed-couple life.

I think that as Dong Joo and Yeon Hee are first loves, and they couldn’t do anything, and couldn’t do without each other, a mutually-dependent existence.  They are young so they are optimistic and passionate, but I don’t think you need to keep being that way. For me, although it is important to treat your partner kindly and consider their feelings, having a friend-like relationship is good. Although we will argue, be it going out and having fun, or interests and other things should be shared as well. As for my ideal girl, a reliable girl would be good. This job (of mine) is full of instability, so I think that having a girl who can help me remain composed would be great. Someone feminine and cheerful would be nice.

Dong Joo wavers between Yeon Hee and Jin Young, but for you (Changmin) who would you pick between the two of them?

To be honest, I want to add the both of them together then split it into half (laughs). Basically, I don’t want to give up either of them. Jin Young is a woman that any man would yearn for. She’s a good career woman, and initially it wasn’t the case by in the end, she helps to protect Dong Joo. This kind of woman is probably the dream of any man. For Da Ji, compared to Jin Young, she has more energy and is not as feminine but more…like an auntie? (Laughs) However, for me, that is her charm, and I feel that she is very reliable. Even though they aren’t sure of their mutual feelings, aren’t they still dependent on each other?

Dong Joo is a character that doesn’t express his true feelings for Da Ji, saying nasty things to her all the time, but for Changmin, what is your approach towards a girl that you like?

I won’t do it like Dong Joo, who says nasty things and bullies his partner even though he likes her. I won’t fool around, and I won’t try to analyze her thoughts. Rather, I think my approach would be instinctive, and just being myself. From a girl’s point of view, I think I would be easy to get along with. (Laughs)

During filming, it seems that Yunho went to the shooting location in Jeju island to visit you, so please tell us about any episodes during that time. Also, did you get any advice from Yunho, or any feedback with regards to the drama?

I said “Don’t come, don’t come,” but he stubbornly came anyway….  What Yunho had told be before filming was, to do it naturally and not be nervous, and he said a lot of things. As for watching this drama…we didn’t give any actual feedback to each other regarding each of our dramas, but he said “It was interesting, and good.”

So you and Yunho be performing together as actors in the future?

No. (Laughs) I do feel that I want to show everyone “Changmin” as an actor, but when it’s the two of us, we become Tohoshinki, don’t we.. I only just started acting, so I can’t say that I want to see this, but from now on I will work even harder to improve my acting, and show everyone various sides of me.

This was your first challenge in acting, and what is the difference between acting and singing activities? Also, do you see any changes in yourself, or any improvements etc in your activities as a singer?

Putting your feelings into it and expressing yourself is the same. However, in a song, you express one feeling for about 3 to 6 minutes, whereas in acting you have to naturally express all the little changes in emotions that you see in everyday life. It’s different from singing, and it was difficult. After actually trying it out, I think my range of expressions has increased, and this was really useful.

This drama is a love comedy, what kind of genre do you wish to challenge in a drama or movie in the future?

In the future if I have an chance to act, I will definitely give this challenge a try. In terms of genre, I always liked romantic comedies so I wanted to try it, and also a story about youths around my age, with a school as a setting, a school drama is something I would like to try.

Is there a place like “Paradise Ranch” or a time where you can recuperate from your busy everyday life?

After the day is over, I drink beer. This beer is a reward to myself, which says “Ah~ It’s over! I worked really hard today.”

Please leave a message to all your Japanese fans, about watching Paradise Ranch, or about your future plans etc.

Not just the lead actors, but everyone who appeared in the show disregarded their own feelings and worked dutifully. As this is a story that talks about a pure, straight love without limits, please watch it. Also, not only is it funny, the setting is set in the beautiful Jeju Island, and I think its a drama which you can enjoy and relax with. I hope that this winter, this drama will be able to warm your hearts.

111126 Oh, Cassiopeia from ~Myndless~

Posted by ~Myndless~ at 2:38 PM

Oh, Cassiopeia… =_=;;

Ah, Cassiopeia…I really do enjoy being a part of this large fandom, but ever since the latter part of 2009 things haven’t been the best.  With the seperation of the members into two groups at the moment and all the constant fighting/bashing, it turns even the nicest of fans into really mean ones.  Others who cannot handle any of the arguing simply become a ‘turned off’ fan or leave the fandom altogether.  As of right now, the fans are split into three groups: JYJ stans, HoMin stans, and OT5 stans.  In the case of OT5, there can be subtle differences. To me, JYJ stans are quite vocal about their issues (be it with HoMin or anything else).  In the beginning, I was very much okay with how JYJ stans felt.  They must’ve found it unfair that Yunho and Changmin went on to promote asTVXQ when Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu couldn’t.  They must’ve also felt upset when the said three were (and still are) banned from any show that would help promote them.  I’m not going to lie, I feel the same way.  So, that is why I can side with JYJ stans on this:  simply because I still feel like there is some injustice towards Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu.  But lately, there have been some fans that take their frustrations a little too far and do some crazy things with it.  HoMin stans are, in my opinion, passive-agressive with their issues.  They aren’t as vocal with things as far as I’ve seen.  When the initial seperation happened, I wasn’t really to enthusiastic with them.  Yes, I’d support TVXQ, but not 2VXQ or whatever they call it.  Like JYJ stans, they make it known that they do not like the other members.  Most of their conflicts rise whenever a JYJ stan makes themselves present or whenever bashing comes into play.  OT5 stans are a little more bearable.  It depends on what type you are though.  As I had heard once, you have 2 types: ones that support the five members even through this seperation and the ones that support the five members’ work prior to.  Where do I fall in this?  I’m probably half and half.  I support all five even through this seperation, but I haven’t been as enthusiastic with listening to their recent stuff or keeping up with news on them.  If you were to ask me what would be my favorite song on the ‘In Heaven’ or ‘TONE’ albums, I’d probably just pick one out of the blue because I haven’t heard all the songs on either album.  But most OT5 stans have the same wish to see all members back together again or at least see them have their friendship restored.  There are a few who do not mind that TVXQ has split the way it has and actually don’t mind if they never get back together.  That makes me a little sad to hear it though.  The conflicts that OT5 stans have is whenever JYJ and HoMin fans fight amongst themselves or when both of those entities get into a tussle with them.  Sometimes it is what JYJ/HoMin stans say that sets off an OT5.  Thus, some mean things could come from them.  And to me, that is just as bad as being JYJ/HoMin biased.  -_-;;  I know I may have said some mean things about JYJ/HoMin stans too (just to make you all feel better).  >_<  So, no matter how you look at it, all parts of the fandom are a little rough around the edges.  Lately, JYJ stans have been getting a bad reputation for their lashing out in these past few months.  But amidst all that, I still think there are some good fans within that side of the fandom.  Just like I’m sure there are within the HoMin and OT5.  (S/N:  Just to put this out there, I’m not very fond of fans that say things like “I hate JYJ or HoMin or saying ‘ex’-members.  It aggravates me.)  It’s really sad to think this way but for fans who did abandon one side, they must’ve never really liked a few members in the first place.  -_-;;  I’d like to say that’s being a fake fan, but that may be too strong a word.  But what will those fans do when TVXQ comes back together again?  If they go back to cheering “We love you all!” all I can do is shake my head in shame because I’d consider that being finicky or two-faced.  But that’s just my opinion.
Another point I’d like to bring up is why we chose sides to begin with.  The best answer I can come up is because of wherever YOUR BIAS is.  There are other reasons I’m sure, but this one stands out like a sore thumb to me.  For example if your favorite member is Jaejoong, Yoochun, or Junsu then naturally you’ll side with JYJ.  If your favorite member is Yunho or Changmin then you’re most likely going to side with HoMin.  As far as OT5 goes, they may not have a bias because they love all members equally.  Or they can have a bias, but still just support all sides just like they did prior to the seperation.  I fall into this general category as my bias is Changmin, but I’m not a HoMin stan.  This may not be so when it comes to newbie fans because they haven’t been around long enough to know the history of TVXQ/JYJ–or if they’d even be interested for that matter.  But even OT5 stans can get misinterpreted for siding with a certain side if they have a bias.  Sometimes I had thought that about a few fans.  ^^;;  This also may be the reason for some arguments among fans: they feel their bias is threatened whenever they’re talked about in a bad way.  But this can lead to the said members being hurt in the process from our constant bickering among each other.  Trying to protect them may backfire.  I wanted to put this into a way where I could use a Greek tragedy to describe it, but I don’t know how.  But I shall try!  There is a tragedy about a woman named Medea who was so very much in love with her husband.  One day, her husband did her wrong by marrying someone esle, saying it would be for the best.  She was so distraught that she killed his new wife, that wife’s father, and the children that Medea and her husband had.  I wanted to say that fans have a ‘Medea complex’ when it comes to their biases (whether it’s in TVXQ, another fandom, or if they’re fictional).

Since we’re on the topic of Greek stories, I have another tidbit about our fandom’s name.  We are called Cassiopeia, right?  Do you know about her?  I’m sure I had said this in a previous post, but she is considered a VAIN QUEEN.  The ‘W’ in the sky is her sitting in a chair upside-down as punishment for her vanity.  Maybe that does fit our description, huh?  We boasted that we were the best fanclub, and now look at us: dragging what shredded remains of our fandom and our members through the mud.

In summary, it get’s really agitating when fans fight within their own fandom.  It turns some fans away when it happens.  JYJ fans need to calm down, and all sides do need to stop saying hateful things to one another.  Two wrongs don’t make a right.  I know that this part may take a long time since mean things do evoke us to say something back (I’m just as guilty as you are).  Lately, I try to steer away from any of these arguments.  But as a Leo likes drama, I’m attracted to it and want to make my side of the discussion known.  XD  I think that a fan’s bias has a general role to play in their actions as well.  In addition, I’d also like to say that the members themselves may need a good slap on the wrist for putting us through all of this.  ^^;;

So, with all that said…what kind of fan are you?

Interesting Post ~Myndless~I’m getting ready to cart it to JYJ Fantalk. Wow! You write so expressively. You know, I guess I am just a loving Momma who cares for all five but feels closest to JYJ because of accessibility and their personalities. If they were all back together I would love them all with just a teeny-tiny lean toward Junsu,Yoochun and Jae :), but that is the way it is right now so it really wouldn’t be much different. I guess you could say that I would try my best to treat them the same. As to the music–JYJ’s has one dynamic for me, and HoMin’s has another dynamic. Depending upon my mood–either is wonderful. I hope you don’t mind sharing because I love you too. <3 Cha

[Trans] 111125 U-Know Yunho, Cameo Appearance In “Living In Cheongdam-dong,” Anticipation ↑

Anticipation has been rising for TVXQ member U-Know Yunho’s guest appearance in JTBC’s sitcom “Living in Cheongdam-dong.”

In the press conference held of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” on 25 November at 2pm, highlight videos of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” were revealed.

In this video, which included passionate acting from the “Nation’s Mother” Kim Hye Ja as well as Hyun Woo and Lee Sang Yup, U-Know Yunho made a sudden appearance, surprising those at the press conference.

In the sitcom, U-Know Yunho plays a Hallyu star who rents comic books without returning them, then goes into Kim Hye Ja’s comic book room without paying for the rental of space, resulting in his shaming that led to much laughter from the audience.

The director of “Living in Cheongdam-dong” said, “In the show, Kim Hye Ja runs a comic book room in Cheongdam-dong, and this is supposed to be a comic book room that is frequented by hallyu stars. In the future, more hallyu stars will be making surprise appearances, and I hope that you will look forward to it.”

NEWS KARA, TVXQ Nominated For Japan Record Awards

KARA – The Korea Herald

TVXQ – SM Entertainment

Tohosomnia.net writes:

K-pop groups KARA and TVXQ have been nominated for the top prize of the 53rd Japan Record Awards, while 2NE1 has been nominated for Best New Artist, the awards committee announced on Saturday.

A major music awards show held annually in Japan, the Japan Record Awards is organized and hosted by the Japan Composer’s Association.

Ten acts have been nominated for the top award this year, including Nishino Kana, Mizumori Kaori, Hikawa Kiyoshi, and AKB48. KARA has been nominated for “Go Go Summer!” while TVXQ is being for “Why? (Keep Your Head Down)” All of the nominees automatically share the Best Song award, and the top prize winner will be announced on the day of the ceremony.
KARA debuted in Japan in 2010, and received the New Artist of the Year Award from the Japan Gold Disc Awards the same year. The group released two studio albums and five singles in Japan since their debut. Their third Japanese single, “Jet Coaster Love” topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart during its first week of release.
TVXQ, on the other hand, has topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart nine times since their Japanese debut in 2005. Initially a five-member group, TVXQ returned as a duo consisting of Yunho and Changmin in January, after the three original members ― Jae-joong, Yoochun, and Junsu ― left the group over a dispute about their 13-year contract with S.M. Entertainment back in 2009. After their return in January with a new Japanese single “Why (Keep Your Head Down),” the duo also released a Japanese studio album titled “TONE” in September. The full-length album sold more than 200,000 copies during its first week of release.
Meanwhile, 2NE1, which just had a highly successful concert in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Saturday, has been nominated for the Best New Artist prize, along with three Japanese musicians ― Ito Miyu, Super Girls, and Fairies. Like the top prize nominees, the four Best New Artist prize nominees are automatically given a New Artist prize, with the Best New Artist winner honored on the awards night.
The girl group debuted in Japan in September with their mini-album “Nolza.” The album topped Japan’s Oricon chart the same week. They held their first Japanese concert, “1st Live Concert: Nolza in Japan” at Yokohama Arena on Sept. 19 and 20.
Last year, Girls’ Generation was nominated for the Best New Artist, and Big Bang was one of 10 artists to get a Best Song award, for “Tell Me Goodbye.”
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live through Japan’s TBS at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Translation ELLE December 2011 — JYJ Interview

[Trans] ELLE December 2011 – JYJ Interview
Posted on November 22, 2011 by DBSK Always

JAEJOONG SAYS…
Q. How was the Europe concert tour?
A. The Spain and Germany concerts were really fun. Even though it was a little scary because it was our first time it was an experienced that allowed us to see “hope” and it gave us confidence and a new goal as well. While we were singing, the Caucasians were singing along and it’s a different feeling from our Asian fans. It’s strange (t/n: in a positive way, like wonderous/miraculous).
Q. If you had a must-have item in your travelling trunk. A. Um, the kind of slippers you can buy from supermarkets. Those with thick fur that keeps your feet warm.
Q. A way to become happy during a tough day. A. When you’re in pain, if you pinch other areas, the original pain won’t hurt as much. If I have to give an example, when I’m feeling down I down even though I drink a lot, the next day I’ll sober up. If I have to go on, when my stomach hurts and I eat a lot! If I eat without reason, I’ll regret that moment and I’ll feel like my stomach is protruding out. So then I’ll exercise. A way where you think all kinds of thoughts and forget the important thing at hand?
Q. (To Jaejoong who was playing catchball) It seems like you like catchball.
A. (Earnestly) I think the “catchball of the heart” of one person’s connection to another is more important.
Q. If you had aabout a week’s holiday. A. Definitely! Never! I don’t have anywhere I want to go if I had a holiday. I just hope that I can spend a long time in my house that I moved into. It’s lonely when I’m alone, but that feels good too. I want to rest without thinking about anything.
Q. A (bad/peculiar) habit no one else knows.
A. Out of all my facial features, I have the most confidence in my lips, but because of that I have a tendency to stick my tongue out all the time. Because I want to wet my lips. (Editor’s note: Interviewer turns away awkwardly and Jaejoong tapped as he continued) Also, because it’s nicer to have red lips than pale lips, I bite them occassionally. Haha.
Q. Something that breaks away from your usual exuberant behavior.
A. Giving modestly (t/n: to charity). There are also times when I give quietly without publicizing it. I’ve also been appointed to be an ambassador for several causes.
Q. Something that makes your heart swell with satisfaction.
A. I don’t think it’s enough yet. I’m still lacking.
Q. Then, up until now, a moment when you felt that you were happy.
A. That moment when tooether with the members, I sing a song that I’ve created and completed. Before anyone else hears it, that particular time when we hear it only amongst ourselves and feel happy. Looking at it this way, I think that moment is one of the best small moments of happiness.
-ELLE December Issue behind the scene- “Noona, why is there no one around?” That’s right. It’s because you (Jaejoong) are first. Here in the backwoods all alone, without even his manager, it was the first time we saw a celebrity turn up 30 minutes before the meeting time. Therefore, we could only feel bewildered. We moved the equipment together. And then Jaejoong quietly left to drink some haejangguk (t/n: also know as ‘hangover soup’.)

YOOCHUN SAYS…
Q. You said you spent quite some time overseas.
A. That’s the thing. Rather than going around when I’m overseas, aside from my official schedule, I spend all my time in my hotel room. I’ll dim the lights of the hotel room as I drink. Haha. Previously in Spain, I drank 17 bottles of beer.
Q. Wouldn’t you start to think a lot when you’re drinking alone?
A. Yes. The thoughts come one after another… Even though I don’t want to, after observing, it seems like I do enjoy it. When that happens, I write. I have quite a number of notes that covers all kinds of themes. When I look at them later, I use them as lyrics. Almost all the lyrics for my songs were written this way.
Q. Thoughts on charity work.
A. It’s a good thing. But it’s not like I’m doing it with a “please praise me” attitude.
Q. Are you doing any good work? (t/n: charity)
A. I’m doing it, but it’s not something I want to disclose.
Q. If you had any small moments of happiness recently.
A. Yoohwan’s acting has improved. Even when I was overseas, I continued to monitor him via Youtube. When I see that, compared to thinking that he looks handsome or admiring him, I feel “happy” instead. Is that boring? But recently, these kind of ordinary things have made me feel happy.
Q. If there’s something that you always set your mind to.
A. Um… (silence for a few seconds) I don’t really know. (His manager who was watching said “For example when you told Yoohwan ‘Let’s not have any regrets’.”) Yeah, that’s something you’ll only understand when you first experience regrets.
Q. If you were given free time to do whatever you wanted.
A. I want to go to a temple (Buddhist). If possible, I want to leave my handphone behind and go and stay at a temple with the allowance of time in my hands.
Q. Your favourite music recently.
A. Did Junsu talk about Tablo-hyung? For me, I like Linkin Park. Just listening to them reduces my stress.
Q. Plans hereafter.
A. I’m creating my personal work room at home. It’ll probably be completed around December but from then on I want to push forward and work on my compositions. Following that, I also hope to get a good project next year. We’re also thinking about our concerts… There are a lot of plans. Well!
-ELLE December Issue behind the scene- Yoochun put on a hair piece. He looks cool, or perhaps, it’s a lonely image. His character and his looks are both calm. On the other hand, the stylists who saw him blew up with a ‘bang’. “Oh, aren’t you Yoohwan?” He looks like he’s having a lot of fun when he’s with the puppies. In order to bring up his pet dogs he moved from his previous apartment and he also got a golden retriever from the camping ground. It was his first time doing a photoshoot with his real brother and acquired a new family member (in the company) it was a calm day of “series of hits.”

JUNSU SAYS…
Q. I’m the type who thinks a lot or I look at things simply (t/n: in an uncomplicated way)? A. Surprisingly, I’m the kind who thinks a lot. We stayed in Berlin because of our Europe tour and I thought about a lot of things as I took a walk on the streets at night. It’s been a really long time since I did that. 4 hours passed as I walked. Although I think a lot, I do my best to wash it out immediately. I believe in the power of positivity.
Q. A way to become happy during tough times?
A. The fans who are waiting for us! When I just think about that, without a shadow of a doubt, I’ll be able to do my best. If I can give a slightly more frank answer, it’s when I imagine myself playing soccer? I feel happy just thinking about it. Of course, it’s even better when I actually play on the sports ground.
Q. Recent playlist that “up”s my mood.
A. I’m really into Jason Mraz’s new song “The World As I See It”.
Q. Someone special within the Cjes family. A. (Song) Jihyo-noona is the only actress that I’m close to. I’m proud of that. Haha.
Q. My thoughts regarding charity. A. Because I’m young I still feel a little awkward when I come into contact with words like “charity”. However, naturally I feel a sense of responsibility. Recently, I’ve been contributing more and the people around me are increasingly giving more as well so I’ve been thinking of better ways to contribute. Together with the JYJ members, we gave towards “Building Houses of Love” for victims of the earthquake, but I take the most joy in supporting the children in Africa. The children are really cute.
Q. Your life’s catchphrase.
A. A bad thing can turn around and change into a blessing! Even when there are tough times we should look for the good things. If we keep looking forward, the results will head towards a better direction. I’ve learnt this over the past 2 years, and little by little I’m starting to understand life.
Q. The book I read last night.

A. Practice for the musical [Elisabeth] will begin soon so I’ve been reading books related to it. I’m at my happiest only when I’m standing on stage so I definitely have to give my all.
-ELLE December Issue behind the scene- Striker Junsu is energetic. He played soccer with the managers and played catchball with Jaejoong enthusiastically. He also sang in a loud voice as he stood beside Yoochun, who was in the middle of an interview. While doing the photoshoot, no matter what pose he did, it was way too “colourful” causing a sea of laughter among those present. When the staff’s interest shift towards something else, he is someone who has the ability to garner everyone’s attention with a joke.

[Trans] 111119 A K-Pop Cafe Opens In Myeong-dong, The Heart Of Seoul

A K-pop attraction that recently opened in Myeong-dong, the heart of Seoul, has become a hot topic.

‘Kstory’ promises to provide a unique display of over 100 personal signatures from K-pop stars, as well as outfits and bags that the stars use on and off stage.

It isn’t easy for overseas K-pop fans to see personal signatures from K-pop stars and ‘Kstory’ gives them the opportunity to see what the signatures of groups like Girls’ Generation and KARA look like with their own eyes.

‘Kstory’ provides a variety of attractions. Korean albums, which are hard to find in Japan, are sold at inexpensive prices. With these albums costing a third of what fans would pay when buying Korean albums in Japan, it would be smart to visit this store to stock up on CDs when visiting Korea.

Fans will also be able to purchase all DVDs that are being sold in Korea. The owner of this store has worked as the manager of many celebrities for over twenty years and is Gang Chan, the CEO of Chani Music. Hallyu stars visit ‘Kstory’ often as he is friends with many of them. If one is lucky, one may even be able to bump into their favorite star during a visit.

As the store has become a place that is often used by Korean reporters when interviewing singers, fans may also be able to see stars sharing intimate stories with these reporters.

One corner of the store is a cafe so fans will be able to enjoy a variety of caffeinated drinks in comfy seats. Fans may find themselves sharing a cup of coffee with a famous star and can take a breather while watching the music videos that are playing.

[NEWS] 111121 North Korean Celebrities Are Struggling Because Of The Hallyu Wave

[NEWS] 111121 North Korean Celebrities Are Struggling Because Of The Hallyu Wave

Radio Free Asia (RFA), a non-profit organization that operates a radio station and internet news source, recently published a story about North Korean celebrities being forgotten due to the Hallyu Wave. Apparently, South Korean movies and dramas are spreading like wildfire inside the isolated country and are devouring low-quality North Korean films.

According to an insider in North Korea, “I don’t know anything about new North Korean songs or movies that have been released. There are only 3-4 [North Korean] films that are produced each year, but since there are so many South Korean movies laying around, no one pays attention to our [North Korean] films.”

Not only are North Korean films low in quality due to insufficient budgets, they lack creativity and are considered boring because they are all material that only praise Kim Il Sung‘s family. Thus, it was reported that citizens and young people completely ignore films and entertainment produced by their country.

North Korean celebrities are suffering significantly due to the Hallyu Wave, mainly because South Korean celebrities are gaining much popularity, while they are becoming forgotten. Multiple insiders state, “People related to the North Korean entertainment business ignore the demands of the people and solely focus on Kim Jong Il‘s propaganda. People can expect to see the end of North Korea’s entertainment industry“.

North Korean youths who defected from the country were able to name several South Korean films including ‘Stairway to Heaven‘ and ‘Scent of a Man‘, while they were unable to recall any names of actors/actresses from a particular North Korean film.

It’s not just North Korean movies and dramas going down the drain — the music industry is declining as well. An insider explained, “All songs, including new ones, involve chants and praises for Kim Jong Il or the Worker’s Party. No one wants to listen to them.”

South Korean netizens were quite amused by the news and commented, “Aren’t all North Korean songs practically hymns that praise that dictator pig?“, “There are celebrities in North Korea? That kind of occupation exists? Wow“, and “I can feel the end of North Korea nearing..“.
