[TRANS] 130306 The Cast Of ‘Moonlight Prince’ Say Goodbye With Their Last Episode… Express Their Sorrow With Humor

[TRANS] 130306 The Cast Of ‘Moonlight Prince’ Say Goodbye With Their Last Episode… Express Their Sorrow With Humor

The cast of ‘Moonlight Prince’ put aside their sorrow and ended their last filming schedule with humor.

The last filming schedule of KBS 2TV’s ‘Moonlight Prince’ took place on the 6th at the KBS building in Yeoido.

The day’s episode was centered around the relationship playbook for single women ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man’ (written by Steven Harvey) and 2AM’s Jin Woon and Changmin, and Kim Tae Woo appeared as the final guests of the show.

The MCs of ‘Moonlight Prince’ (Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Max Changmin, Brave Brothers, Jung Jae Hyung) began the episode with an introduction of the guest stars, who started off by talking about their recent activities and whereabouts.

The MCs set aside their disappointed sorrow of having their show canceled and instead focused on doing their best till the very end. Instead of lingering on the fact that it was the last episode, the guests also actively participated in the ‘book talk’ format of the program.

MCs Kang Ho Dong and Tak Jae Hoon touched upon their disappointment of having the show cancelled while talking with the guest stars.

Kang Ho Dong said, “‘Moonlight Prince’ is on the rise these days. We’re seeing an upwards trend.” This referred to the fact that the show recorded viewer ratings of 4.8% (Nielsen Korea), which was a 1.7% increase from the previous episode.

Tak Jae Hoon packaged his sorrow in humor as he stated, “You and I both were mentally out of it when we heard the news.”

Brave Brothers joked and said, “My image has gotten much better after I started appearing on the show, but now when you search my name, ’12 crimes’ comes up as a related search topic.”

In response to the MCs’ comments about the end of the show, the guest stars said, “We’ve enjoyed watching the show,” and the MCs showed their gratitude for the guests for watching the program.

Ahead of the last filming schedule of ‘Moonlight Prince’, PD Lee Yae Ji stated, “I received an unexpected and sudden notice last week that the show was cancelled. I told the MCs of the cancellation after I heard the news,” and “We’ll return with a better program.”

PD Lee and Kang Ho Dong will be returning with a new program after the end of ‘Moonlight Prince’. Regarding this, the PD seemed hesitant to share any information as she stated, “We haven’t yet decided upon a concept for the new program.”

Meanwhile, ‘Moonlight Prince’ first began airing on the 22nd of January. It will stop airing after its eighth episode on the 12th of March due to low viewer ratings.

‘Moonlight Prince’ is a ‘book talk’ variety show that chooses a book every week to act as a theme for the show’s talk segment. The MCs are Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Max Changmin, Brave Brothers and Jung Jae Hyung.

[TRANS] 130204 Why Does Max Changmin Say, “I’ve Become Polluted From Appearing On ‘Moonlight Prince’”

“I need to restrain myself.. but it’s not easy.”

Max Changmin, who has become a hot topic for his witty comments on ‘Moonlight Prince’, confessed that he is currently faced with an interesting dilemma.

While talking about happiness during a recent filming of KBS2′s ‘Moonlight Prince’, Max Changmin, who has put everyone in a stupor with his unexpected comments every episode, said, “I need to restrain myself, but it’s not easy.” This confession comes from his witty remarks during the first and second episode of the variety show.

When asked, ‘Do you think you’ve become polluted?’, Max Changmin replied, “I think I’ve become polluted from appearing on ‘Moonlight Prince’.”

Tak Jae Hoon looked concerned and had everyone laughing when he commented, “How could this have happened to Changmin in just one week?”

Meanwhile, Lee Bo Young, the hero of KBS2′s weekend drama ‘My Daughter Seo Young’, appeared as the guest of the third episode. It will air on the 5th of February at 11:10pm.

Captain Coco and The Bubble Incident Chapter 1: First Engagement Part 2

All is quiet except for the sound of 300 energetic human mandibles chewing upon bowls of Pebbly Poohs and Honey Bears. The First Mate, Mr. Blade, true to his word, has managed to pour three hundred bowls of children’s cereal, assisted by Counselor Penna, within five minutes. Smelling deliciously throughout the entire vessel are the roasting buffalo wings ordered by Captain CoCo, who is at present wolfing down his bowl of Pebbly Poohs and Honey Bears. The Captain’s motto is “eat to have endurance”.  He has proven that his motto is well-grounded. Captain CoCo eats ten meals a day (small ones, of course) accompanied by copious amounts of coconut milk to clear his intestines. No duplicators for himself or his crew. Real food only…quality, thank you very much. He is never in the infirmary, but it is a well-known fact that he runs the kitchen crew ragged.

The captain has a reason for demanding such culinary discipline. The ISP Grande Pollo is manned by a large illustrious crew of talented individuals. They need lots of energy. Perhaps because they have a reason. Captain CoCo runs every one of them ragged as well. Also, one of the many pre-requisites for serving on a ISP Force starship is the ability to sing, dance, and act. There has never been a justifiable reason for this requirement–a bit like cutting off the end of the ham to fit the pan. A special Thespiadeck is provided on each ship for the sole purpose of encouraging each of the crew members to practice their individual talents with impunity. No supervision and observation here. It is the belief of the ISP Force governing body that the way to ensure the happiness and obedience of the crew is to provide them with unsupervised personal time. Now, admittedly, some of the crew chooses not so healthy pursuits, but most use the Thespiadeck on a daily basis.

A sudden alarm sounds throughout the ship…Cluck, Cluck, Cluck, Cluck, Cock-A-Doodle-Doo!!!… It grows louder and louder until Captain Coco decides to answer the hail. He has left one lone individual to man the bridge, Protection Officer Bun-Bo, a tall, handsome officer with the reputation of being the most marvelous dancer on board. Ahem… except for Captain Coco, of course.

Take Note: Captain Coco doesn’t believe in using the intercom system on the ISP Grande Pollo.  It goes against his belief that dignified yelling helps to develop the vocal chords. Therefore he screams at the top of his lungs, “What is it, Protection Officer Bun-Bo?”  No answer. Protection Officer Bun-Bo is four bulk-heads away and it has been rumored that his refusal to use his doctor prescribed hearing aid is for the sole purpose of ignoring Captain CoCo.

This time, however, Protection Officer Bun-Bo is in the middle of staring at the Strawberry Bubble spaceship as it is approaching the ISP Grande Pollo at breakbow speed.

“Captain Coco!!! Captain Coco,” he screams. “We are under attack!!!”

“By what?” screams Captain Coco as he enters the bridge. There is no need for an answer, for just as Captain Coco leaps gracefully into his chair there is a sudden splashing sound, the ship lurches aft, and a monstrous amount of strawberry essence bubble bath is pouring down the hull of the ISP Grande Pollo. It appears as a red waterfall in the viewer screen and there is a pervasive smell of strawberries wafting through the ship’s ductwork and entering every breathable part of the ship.

“Surrender or drown!” demands a deep, basso voice emanating from the (at this moment) invisible Strawberry Bubble ship. “We have located your portholes and we are prepared to forcibly flood your ship with our finest bubble bath. Seeing as how we have an endless supply, you will have to surrender before we run out of bubbles.”

Captain CoCo is torn between wanting to laugh uproariously and cry like a baby in his diaper at nap-time. He has faced down many a ship’s captain in his time using conventional weapons, but this…he has never had cascading strawberry bubbles threatening to clog his portholes and dissolve his hull. His advanced science training leaps to his aid…

“Spray down the hull with the water ejectors right now!” he yells to the Chief Engineer who has just entered the bridge. “It should wash the bubble bath out into space!”

“We already tried that, Captain.” Chief Engineer Francois strolls nonchalantly to stand beside the captain. “The bubble bath is so gooey that it has clogged the ejectors. We have only forty-five minutes before this ship will have to be abandoned.”

“Forty-five minutes!!??” Captain Coco pivots in his command chair to address the Hailing Officer. “Lt. Bomma Whama, open a hailing channel. I must speak to that bubble captain.”

“Right away, Captain Sir, but it may be difficult. The ship’s antenna that you insisted on installing instead of the ISP Force communications system is rather gooey right now, but I will try to raise a hail.”

“Off with your head!” screams Captain CoCo, “I want to talk to that bubble head right NOW!!!”

“No need to get excited, Captain.”  A strong, mellow voice rings out from the bridge entrance. “I am carrying a chickenizer.” Striding in looking like a fashion-plate and wearing cool shades, the ship’s Doctor Shades holds in his hand a gigantic wand-like object that smells suspiciously of chicken essence. “You know what happens when you get over-excited, Captain. Don’t force me to use this.”

Spinning swiftly around, Captain Coco addresses the First Mate. “You know how to deal with him, Mr. Blade. Get him off my bridge. Now!!”

Mr. Blade approaches Doc Shades, wrapping his arm around him and leading him away. Distantly… “How did you get hold of my best pair of shades? I hid those from you months ago…”

“Captain, I have an open channel.” Lt. Bomma Whama hands a telephone to Captain CoCo. “I don’t know how well this will work seeing as how you insisted on installing telephones instead of wireless communication devices. We’ll just have to pray and see what happens.”

Captain Coco plants his hands on both hips. “That’s insubordination, Lt. Bomma Whama. Remind me to court-martial you once all of this settles.”

“Yes Sir, Captain Sir!” Lt. Bomma Whama forgets to mention that this is the third time in two days that Captain CoCo has forgotten to court-martial her…

“Open the hail. Is this 12-8845-27736-568900, extension 36b?

Unbelievably there is an answer from the Strawberry Bubble captain. “I am Captain Wash-a-lot of the Bubbleship Berry Soapy. Even though you have centuries-old, outdated equipment space intruder, I can hear you. Barely. Snort!”

“I, Captain Coco of the ISP Grande Pollo refuse to surrender to a bubblebearing, bubble-headed, strawberry toting, snorting foe. Surrender at once or FACE MY WRATH!!!”

…More snorting…

Captain Coco slams down the phone.”Protection Officer Bun-Bo, accompany me to the engineering section. There must be a way to defeat these strawberry bumpkins.”

“Whatever, Sir.” (Telephone rings in the background.)

Meanwhile, Captain Wash-a-lot sighs and drums his fingers on the arm of his squishie chair,  then frowns like a five year old. Standing up, as Captain CoCo has refused to answer, he adjusts his towel about his waist and snatches up his rubber ducky in disgust. He sighs again as his turban-towel slips down over one eye. Raising his ducky aloft in defiance of the ISP Grande Pollo, he blurts

“I shall be in my bath! Let me know when he deigns to speak with the captain of the powerful Bubbleship Berry Soapy! Lye and green apples reek!!!”

“Right Sir! Lye and green apples reek!!!” , the crew replies in a cascading, thunderous roar. Hail to the Chief of Rubber Duckies!!”.

To be continued…Muahahahaha!!!

[TRANS] 120628 Compilation of JYJ The Day’s Commentary

[TRANS] 120628 Compilation of JYJ The Day’s Commentary

Junsu: Yuchun seldom sleeps alone whenever they go abroad. He would ask either a member of his manager to sleep with him.

——–

There are a lot of eating scenes in The Day, and Junsu whined “Why are there so many eating scenes…I’m hungry.”

At the scene of Yuchun eating gamjatang (potato stew), Junsu said in English “My favorite Korean food”. XD

——–

Junsu, “I want my members to show me support too. I have already showed my support for you guys with chicken and buffet.”

Jaejung, “We will give you support, but that means no more birthday present for you.”

Junsu, “All right, I’ll be waiting.”

Yuchun, “A luxurious(expensive) support.”

Jaejung, “Then you’ll pay the bill for it.”

——–

Upon watching a scene with Yuhwan, Jae and Junsu said to Yuchun, “It’s good to be young. Yuhwan is better looking and younger than you.”

——–

Yuchun said that he would sit on the floor with a glass of red wine and listen to LPs when he’s upset, but recently he changed drinks.

Junsu said, “Soju bombs?”

——–

Junsu said that Yuchun looked like a ghost from Ju On when he’s washing his face. Yuchun made the sound that the ghost made in the movie XD

——–

Jaejung, “My parents are hurrying me to get married.”

Yusoo, “Hurry get married! If you don’t get married, what will happen to us?! No such thing as younger brothers getting married first.”

Jaejung, “Get married straight away without dating?”

Yuchun, “Meet, get to know her, date for 3 hours then get married.”

Yusoo, “Hyung has to cook everyday even after you’re married.”

Jaejung, “Of course I will, but my wife has to cook too.”

Yusoo, “It’ll be the best if your wife cooks at home, but when you’re out playing(like barbeques), the man should cook.”

——–

Jaejung asked them when they feel the happiest.

Junsu, “When I’m singing and dancing on stage.”

Yuchun’s answer was also “When I’m on the stage.”

When Jaejung was asked the same question, he said, “When I am with the both of you.”

Yuchun, “I knew you would say that!”

Jae, “Let’s try it again. When do you feel the happiest?”

JS, “When I’m on the stage w the members, 3 of us singing and dancing together.”

Yuchun said something along those lines, and Jaejung said, “When I’m on the stage, sharing excitement with the fans.”

——–

Jaejung, “I don’t like giving my niece/nephew new year’s money. It’s supposed to be for the child but it’s taken away by the mother.”

——–

Jae commented that he likes the fact that Yuchun’s bedroom and studio are one.

Yuchun, “The biggest plus point is that I can write it down immediately if I have inspiration from the moment I wake up.”

——–

Yuchun, “Junsu is the god of kissing. His kissing skills have improved (after Elisabeth).”

Junsu, “It’s not kiss, it’s god of bobo!”

Yuchun, “It’s almost the same thing, both are about lips touching.”

Jaejung, “Did you have to practice first? Who did you practice kissing with?” Junsu, “I imagined it.”

(Alternatively, Junsu could have said “It’s not a kissing scene, it’s a bobo scene!”)

[About the “kissing” tweet, I’m not sure if the OP made a mistake about “Kiss신” which can mean “Kiss Scene” and also “God of Kiss”. Take it with a pinch of salt.]

——-

Jaejung, “This is the second time I’ve had a birthday party outside. The first time was when I was in junior high. I was really happy.”

——-

Jaesu to Yuchun, “Both of you have really good genes. Your mom is so lucky, how could she give birth to two kids who are both so good looking?”

——

At the scene of Yuchun’s bathroom, Junsu said, “Why is it so clean? It became cleaner. It wasn’t so clean in the past.

Yuchun, “It has always been clean.”

Jaejung, “Yes, it has always been clean because Yuchun hardly uses it.”

——–

Junsu hugged his mother after performing on the drums. Jaejung said, “Junsu is as tall as his mother.” Junsu, “My mum is 173cm tall…”

———-

At a fansign scene, YC said that he doesn’t have many male fans. Su said, “You don’t have male fans? Jaejung hyung and I have quite a few.”

(Junsu said it in a very tactful way)

———-

Junsu and Jae mocked Yuchun for having very little eyebrows at the scene where he was at home. Yuchun said it’s because he was at home, meaning that he wanted it to seem natural. XD

Yuchun and Jae laughed at Junsu for having chubby cheeks at the scene where he just woke up. Junsu said his face bloats up in the morning.

———-

Junsu said that he would not like or dislike a girl based on whether she can cook or not, but it would be a plus point if she can.

And that after getting married, he thinks it’s better if the girl does the household chores… XD

———–

Jaejung and Yuchun were really tickled by Junsu wearing a wig (old man wig) when he was rehearsing for Tears of Heaven the musical.

———–

Yuchun was really surprised when Junsu took off the wig immediately after that. “You can just take it off like that? Wow, incredible…”

———–

Junsu and Jae complained that the lift to Yuchun’s house is really slow and that they would rather walk up the stairs because it’s faster.

———–

After watching the scene of Junsu’s family gathering, Yuchun commented that the feeling of a home with both parents is different.

————

Jaejung said that Jji is now under his sister’s care.

————

Yuchun has been addicted to Gag concert lately.

————

At a scene where they showed Yuchun’s mother, Jaejung and Junsu both commented that she looks really happy and is really lucky that she has two such good kids.

————

Junsu and Jaejung were mocking Yuchun at a scene where he was acting cute towards the camera before closing the door. Jaejung did the same thing in another scene and Yuchun said, “You did the same thing and yet you mock me!”

————

Junsu and Jaejung said that Yuhwan has changed a lot. Yuchun said that he is now filming and has met a lot of new people who influenced him. He looked proud when he was talking about Yuhwan.

Editor’s Note:120330 Rooftop Prince–Dance, Dance, Splash!!…Yoochun Busts A Move

All of us avid fans know how beautifully Micky Yoochun can bust a dance move and make it look as if he invented dancing, savoir faire and all… Well, if you took a gander at his energetic dance moves in Episode Four of Rooftop Prince you would laugh so hard as to see stars. Everyone is assuming that Yi Gak is unbelievably lazy, not spoiled, and so no one guesses that the motivational, talented gyrater in the white costume is Yi Gak himself. As all of the Prince’s Men dance to help sell the strawberries for their kind benefactress Bak Ha–the people swarm to buy. The impetus–Yi Gak who has donned the costume to help the cause. As a matter of fact–he dances so hard that he swoons dramatically; and since it is assumed that he is a girl no one removes his costume.

While still clothed in this hot monstrosity, Yi Gak is frightened and angered by Bak Ha, who confides her decision to return to America, thinking that he is her long time actress friend. Without revealing his identity, Yi Gak walks away with the knowledge that he cannot tell his men of her decision. What will they do? Yi Gak watches TV at her friend’s apartment and sees “The Crown Princess” dressed in a wedding gown on the Shopping Channel. He takes a cab to the location and confronts Hong Se Na with her infidelity.

Yong Tae-Mu, his cousin who aspires to the company throne, comes to her rescue and hits Yi Gak so hard that he is thrown into the water and drowns much like two years previously. Tae Mu is horrified, thinking that he has killed two men, but miraculously Yi Gak survives.

We are left with a confused Crown Prince who decides that it is his duty to assume the character of the grandson to win his ‘true’ love. It will be intriquing to see where all of this is leading… Episode Five–we are waiting…

Hallyu 2.0: The Korean Wave in the Age of Social Media

April 6, 2012

Pond Room, Michigan Union

University of Michigan

Hallyu (the Korean Wave), a term coined to describe the widespread popularity and regional/trans-regional influence of Korean cultural products, has recently come into its own as a subject of academic inquiry and broad intellectual interest. However, while much attention has been paid to the impact of the Korean Wave on Korea’s national image or domestic economy, as well as its implications for transnational cultural flow, there has been little discussion about the impact of new communication technologies, such as social media.

Hallyu is indeed entering the new age of social media. For the last few years, Facebook, Twitter, youtube, cyworld, and myriad social networking websites have boosted the dissemination of Korea’s popular media contents to regions where the traditional media– theatrical distributions, TV networks, and DVD/VCD sales– had never reached before. Korean films, TV dramas and variety shows, online games, comics, and popular songs are now being shared, distributed and consumed in cyberspace at an unprecedented pace.

“Hallyu 2.0: The Korean Wave in the Age of Social Media” conference seeks to comprehend and interpret the meaning of this new and powerful cultural industry.
