Editors Note on Jeju Island 7 Wonders Cancellation


Look at this picture for NII. Boys next door.

Here we go again. Another cancellation. I’m truly not surprised anymore, just plain irritated. I guess JYJ isn’t morally grounded enough to appear before the TV audience and/or the world as Jeju’s honorary ambassadors? Honorary does have a meaning, right?

Give me a break!! Which agency is responsible this time? We can probably make some accurate guesses as to the political machinations that have attempted to make this last endeavor invalid, and to be honest about it, by this stage it is just ridiculousy juvenile.

Maybe some other country wants to make a bid for the 7 Wonders nomination, maybe SM or Avex simply wants to have one of their acts represent Jeju, or maybe, just maybe, it is just a case of Mr. Nasty disease from KBS once again.

I guess we’ll just wait to see what information will be provided by C-JeS, and who will take responsibility. Until then Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu–no one deserves a break more (accept maybe your brothers inside SM). You work so hard and you are dearly loved. <3 to the nth degree. 🙂 Momma Cha Addendum: There are other voices who feel as if KBS may, as has happened before, be the culprit here. There certainly is evidence from the past of KBS' tendency to schedule, receive promotional benefits, then cancel JYJ or JYJ individual member's activities. It has been affirmed through C-JeS that KBS has broken their agreement with JYJ to be the honorary ambassadors for N7W, which included the special broadcast program on the 20th of July. Has everyone become arrogant and starting to feel as if they have immunity in mistreating JYJ? This has to stop. Justice must be served. Addendum No. 2: It appears to me that KBS has something about them that others can manipulate and use for their own selfish purposes. Even if it is true that they originally asked SNSD et al to represent the N7W campaign, they also originally asked JYJ to do the same. Both had scheduling difficulties but JYJ managed to somehow answer their request and do the promotional work. JYJ got votes for Jeju from all over the world, and inspired people to want to come from all over the world for the event. This is mismanagement on the part of KBS, SM, and hopefully not C-JeS. Regardless of who did or didn't manipulate, drop the ball, etc; it just boils down to one thing, our guys were used and thrown away in the process. According to the Pan-Regional Promotional Committee, after JYJ had officially joined in the promotional activities, voting numbers from youths and hallyu regions have spread, increasing the intensity of the voting.

On 3 May, Jeju Island appointed JYJ as the ambassadors for “Jeju N7W”

Also, the production of the “Jeju N7W” promotional video became a hot topic.

Via the promotional video, JYJ said, “Jeju is a triple-crown winner in UNESCO’s nature and science sector, and represents Korea, China, Japan, and South-East Asia in challenging to become one of the World’s New 7 Wonders of Nature.” “Help Globalize the Korea Brand, and call 001-1588-7715 for telephone voting, and make Jeju known to the world,” encouraging the masses to vote.

Following that, they emphasized, “Jeju, as a representative of Korea, China & Japan, must become one of the World’s New 7 Wonders of Nature,” “We will work hard to encourage participants from the Hallyu regions.”

After the promotional video was put online, referrals from “Blessing Yoochun” and other JYJ fan clubs, fan blogs, twitter and other social media platforms, as well as streaming sites created tens of thousands of hits, heating up the online atmosphere.

JYJ will appear at the “KBS Special – Well-Wishes On Becoming Part Of The 7 Wonders” 5 Live Broadcast Locations, and show their enthusiastic support for Jeju’s nomination in the World’s New 7 Wonders of Nature.

It’s the longest article I’ve ever written.
I took the time to interpret and collate all these works.
Other than the orignal article translations, the interpretations are based on my understandings.
It could differs from person to person and does not represent the intention of the original writer.

JYJ (Kim Junsu, Park YuChun, Kim JaeJoong)’s fans were not able to see them on boardcast channels so they released a press media to satirize about this issue and it’s catching a lot of attention.

The advert reads,”On moonlit night on the last day of the month a document secretly handed over. Fret not about the 3 childen who is an eyesore there won’t be an issue. No matter what the judge says, believe in the entertainment country. [T/N: Translated as accordance to the direct meaning of the peom!]” and a picture of a woman who puts a TV on her head and a man who wore a mask was following right behind the woman was included along with the poem. The advert is trying to say that because of the on-going issue that JYJ has with their previous management company, they were not able to appear on boardcast programs and their previous management company has a certain amount of influence on these broadcast companies.

On the other hand, JYJ fans requested that KBS give a formal reply with regards to the reason why JYJ is not able to attend ‘Music Bank’ and KBS replied saying, “Because JYJ who still has an on-going lawsuit, does not have an album released after 17th February and plus the circumstances differs from singers to singers who qualify to make appearance in the show, JYJ did not qualify. And, “On an additional remark, the OST that JYJ has released did not qualify to the subject.” Adding on, “About the selection of performers, it’s at the sole discretion of the production crew so until JYJ releases a new album or has some work, thereafter the production crew will decide.”

The title of the poem is “JYJ 제ëȘ…가” which literally means “JYJ Commandment Song”

On moonlit night on the last day of the month – It speaks about deep into the dark on a secretive night like on a secret mission that no others should come to know about it. It happens during the midst of the night when everyone should be sound asleep.

a document secretly handed over – an important document that needs to be discussed in discreet (like in ancient times meeting in discreet and sending out hand written documents of a high level of importance) being sent out by SM to various TV stations and companies

Fret not about the 3 childen who is a thorn in your eye because there won’t be an issue. – there’s no need to even worry about those 3 children standing in your way for they won’t even be able to appear on TV as of what you’ve wanted it to be.

No matter what the judge says, believe in the entertainment country- The entertainment country do not follow the decision made by the judge and that they have their own rules and laws that they adhere to.. It begs to differentiate the different kinds of world the broadcasting companies are standing at and their viewpoint on issues and how the judge views on the issue. In short, it shows that the entertainemtn industry is like a separate country ruled by their own laws and not follow what the judge said.

Notice that single chinese character in the whole chunk of Korean words?
It means “country” in Hanja Character. The writer is trying to stress the meaning of the line of that poem. Although in Korean 예늄ꔭ which means “Entertainment Department” has the same writings as the word “ꔭ” in Hanja Character, the writer has used the chinese character to stress that the entertainment department is a country of its own and has its own set of laws and regulations which is overruled by the judgement of the judge or simply put, anyone beides those in that entertainment country ie. SM Entertainment and Boardcasting compaies.

A closer look into what the picture says

The picture shows a woman, a man and a frog. If you take a closer look at their expressions, the woman look frustrated and the man has a sheepish look. Note that his hand is grabbing the arm of the woman. The picture, according to the dressings and hair styles, protrays an image of ancient Korea. In Korea culture, it means a lot for a man to grab a woman by the arm in public area – it could be viewed as harrassement.

The woman balances a TV on her head which represents the Entertainment Country. The man behind her represents the management companies. It is well-known that Lee SooMan, CEO of SM Entertainment has a nickname call “toad” or the “wine toad” because of his looks and because he once invested in winery. Thus the toad represents him. The toad is glaring at the man and woman. Management companies buy the good looks of the Entertainment Country so they can dominate and rule it; like how a man rules his woman.

1. The exclusion of JYJ 1st World Wide Album [The Beginning] from [Music Bank K-Chart] Countings
On October 2010 last year, JYJ’s album [The Beginning] has been officially released and even though JYJ received a high level of sales (as accordance to Hanteo Chart of 2010 with a number of 127 000 copies), KBS’s music program [Music Bank]‘s music chart K-Chart has totally excluded the countings of the album out of the chart with no appropriate reason.

Although the song has received great results, there was not once that JYJ was able to perform that song. On May 2011, after over a long period, KBS claimed that the sales of the OST which accounts to the counting of K-Chart will be exempted and “Found” which counted towards the K-Chart in 2010 was exmpted for the reason being the rules that runs the charting has differs in 2011 from that of 2010 was revealed on January 2011.

3. [Kim Seung Woo’s Win Win] Denied of Appearance
On March 2011, JYJ’s member Park YuChun was supposed to appear as ‘Unknown Guest’ of Kim KamSu’s episode on Win Win. However, on the day that he was supposed to appear on the show, he suddenly received a notice saying that he’s not qualified to attend the variety show. With regards to this, KBS has yet an acceptable explaination for it.

Although he achieved fame as a singer at the boy band TVXQ and later JYJ, his acting has earned him even more popularity.

His previous drama, KBS’ “Seongkyunkwan Scandal,” which portrayed student life in the Joseon period, also attracted great viewership and won him the rookie actor of the year award at the Korea’s Paeksang Arts Award. His choice for playing a historical character for the first time has surprised many, but he later received praise for his acting.

He also narrates MBC documentary “The Hometown Where I Used to Live,” which airs on June 17. The MBC staff figured Park’s soothing voice would fit the concept of the documentary, depicting disappearing rural villages under the influence of urbanization in Korea.

C-JeS Entertainment has released an official position refuting the stance released by KBS on the 18th.

Through the official statement, CEO Baek Chang Joo of C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Regarding the lawsuit that KBS has deemed an issue, the Courts laid down the verdict that SM’s subordinate contract is one-sided and unjust last year, deeming it no longer valid.”

He continued to state, “Also, in February, the Courts recognized that SM was interfering with JYJ’s activities, leading to a strict order being laid down upon them. Therefore, KBS’ claim does not make sense as its statements are not in accordance with each other.“

He also added, “A verdict was made that SM must no longer interfere with the activities JYJ pursue with C-JeS under their contract,” and “These artistes are fighting a lonely battle against a prominent entertainment agency for the sole purpose of gaining a just contract.“

CEO Baek stated, “We believe it is not right for KBS, instead of maintaining an objective stance on the issue, to express its official position in a way that suggests that JYJ have caused problems in society to the public, who do not know much of the issue. Therefore, we request that KBS rectify their errors.”

Lastly, CEO Baek said, “Recently, JYJ have been chosen as honorary ambassadors for publicity projects led by the nation and various groups and have been enhancing national prestige. Therefore, it saddens us to see that others are claiming that JYJ are disrupting the order of the cultural industry.”

”Broadcasting company KBS has released its official position on JYJ’s appearances on KBS TV shows.

On May 18th, the official position of KBS was released in response to the post titled ‘Please explain why JYJ can’t appear on KBS shows’ on the KBS Online Office Staff’s Replies thread.

The KBS variety program sector stated, “As JYJ’s lawsuit with their former agency has not yet ended, KBS is awaiting the results of the lawsuit with the most objective position as possible. The televised appearance of a celebrity locked in a legal dispute, such as a lawsuit, usually has an impact on the controversy that surrounds them. So it is a normal procedure to await the outcome of the situation and to refrain from allowing the celebrity to appear on TV.”

They continued to state that the dual-contract controversy was a main factor in their decision as they stated, “JYJ submitted an exclusive contract suspension injunction against their former agency, and they have been granted temporary independent activities in the entertainment industry till the verdict of the lawsuit. However, JYJ have signed a contract with their current agency and are currently promoting their album under a dual-contract.”

They also added, “These reasons have led KBS to conclude that continuous televised appearances by JYJ will lead to legal problems as well as a possibility of impeding the growth and order of the cultural industry. Until the final verdict of the legal dispute between JYJ and their agency is laid down, or until the lawsuit is ended through a settlement, KBS will refrain from allowing JYJ to appear on KBS’ shows and will only proceed to request their appearance once this has happened, taking into consideration the outcome of the lawsuit as well.“

This signifies that KBS has perfectly clarified all baseless rumors of external pressure on the broadcasting company.

This official position was written in response to a post submitted by Ahn Eun Young in the KBS Viewers’ Thread. Ms. Eun Young stated, “I would like to question why singers JYJ cannot appear on KBS programs and why their album has been excluded from the K-Chart. Though the lawsuit between them and SM has not ended, the Seoul District Courts stated on February 17th that, ‘SM can neither administer limits through their exclusive contact nor impose superintendency on JYJ’s activities in the entertainment industry’ and rejected SM’s application, meaning that the Seoul District Courts do not see any problems with JYJ’s activities in the industry.”

She also added, “I would like to know why JYJ are able to appear on KBS’ other programs but have been barred from appearing KBS’ music program. I hope to see an official position from the staff of KBS with the exact reason as to why the appearance of JYJ on the show as well as the K-Chart is being withheld.”

On the 19th, KBS revealed through a writing it posted on its cyber promotional room regarding JYJ’s TV appearance that: “The reason JYJ could not appear on Music Bank was that the release of album did not materialize. The selection of the appearing artists is the inherent right of the producing crew. We will evaluate whether JYJ appears or not according to the future activities of JYJ such as an album release.”

EDITORS NOTE:

IT IS SO DISGUSTING when corporations such as KBS try to ‘pull the wool’ over the eyes of JYJ Fans. As a “‘fanily”, we are aware of every album, and every single that JYJ puts out there. Why? It is because we love them and await every opportunity to listen to their music or watch them perform on DVD. ‘The Beginning’ is an album. In my opinion, ‘Their Rooms’ is an album accompanied by a book. After all, the book includes the lyrics to their songs. So this is my say on this KBS matter. STOP making excuses for decisions that you made to ignore, eliminate opportunity, bow to SM, etc. that are now staring you in the face.

JYJ is a quality group of talented, popular singers, composers, musicians, actors, models, director, athletes, and dancers. They are also excellent leaders. This group is more appreciated, loved, and supported than you can even imagine. So–call a spade a spade, admit your mistakes, and, in future, give our guys some much deserved respect. BTW C-Jes, netizens do count.

News 110519 KBS Explains Why They Deleted Their Statement Regarding JYJ’s Broadcast Appearances

Shortly after the release an official stance by KBS on the exclusion of JYJ from music show broadcasts and variety show programs on May 18th, JYJ’s agency, CJES Entertainment fired back with a heated response, claiming that their statements did not match up with the current situation. KBS had since deleted their post from their official site, which brought upon further speculations amongst fans.

The next day, KBS’s promotional team explained that their official statement was actually an outdated statement that was written back in February as a response to a question that was posted on their bulletin board that asked about JYJ’s lack of broadcast appearances.

KBS’s promotional team explained, “The statement was a reply to a question that our help desk received back in February, but because of a certain service error, the response was posted late, which is why we took it down shortly after.”

KBS also came forth to explain that the only reason why JYJ have not yet appeared on “K-Chart” or performed on “Music Bank” was simply because JYJ hadn’t released a new single or album since February.

They stated, “The group has only been releasing OSTs, not official albums. When they do release official albums, a decision on whether they will appear on broadcast will be made by the show’s producer.”

In contrast to KBS’s statements though, JYJ did indeed release an official album back in 2010, titled “The Beginning“, and also unveiled a ‘music essay’ back in January 2011.

So why weren’t JYJ able to perform their songs on “Music Bank”?

In the case of their music essay, it was categorized and sold as an ‘essay’ rather than a single or album. As it was considered more of a book rather than music, “Music Bank” had not taken their sale aggregations into consideration.

But in the case of “The Beginning”, the album has it clearly written on its cover, “First Worldwide Full Album“, and was even properly distributed by Warner Music.

JYJ’s agency stated, “The album ‘The Beginning’, was sold properly via a legit distribution company. However, we have never been notified by the broadcasting company regarding what measures or actions to take in order to be included in aggregation calculations for their charts. Moreover, there has never been a time when we asked why JYJ haven’t been able to appear on broadcasts. Protests that are written up on KBS’s viewers’ discussion board are not our official statements, but the opinions of the netizens.”

KBS 2TV’s ‘Talk Show of the Public, Hello’, supported by KBS and run by TV Daily, has been garnering attention being aired live through Daum.

In the live airing that the public participated in, Hong Yoon Hwa and Kim Min Gi, the representative couple amongst comedians, listened to the worries of the public and gave solutions to their problems. ‘Hello’ is out to solve the problems of the public through the format of the show.

The most interesting story came from a 29-year-old woman working at the Korea Customs Service. This woman was working at her usual checkpoint when she was surprised by an extremely handsome man approaching it.

The person who was approaching her was none other than JYJ’s YoungWoong Jaejoong. In a daze, she let him pass through and was even more surprised when she saw the next person in line. A man was slowly approaching her station and it was as if light was radiating from his body. She realized she was looking at JYJ’s Micky Yoochun.

In order to look at Mick Yoochun’s face just a little longer, because he was so handsome, the woman kept asking him to do things like spread his arms out while she inspected him. Because she wanted to stay by his side for a long time, she held him there for quite a while.

But she could feel a prickle on the back of her head and when she turned around, she was met with the angry expression of Xiah Junsu, who had grown sulky at having to wait so long for his turn. Feeling bad, the woman let Xiah Junsu pass quickly when it was finally his turn.

I am so proud of our guys. They have open hearts, and I truly believe that they would be just as concerned if if were somewhere other than Japan. However, we are dealing with Japan’s disaster
