Editors Note: Update on The University of Michigan Symposium–“Of The Fans, By The Fans, For The Fans”–The Republic of JYJ

Approximately a month ago I posted a reference to a conversation that I had with the Director of the Nam Center for Korean Studies concerning a symposium entitled Hallyu 2.0 “Of The Fans, By The Fans, ForThe Fans”–The Republic of JYJ . She was very informative, and helpful, and she sent me the posters and brochure for the symposium via e-mail.

I could not personally attend the symposium on Good Friday, 2012 because I am a minister and had to attend church services–but I was told that there would be information from the symposium posted on the Nam Center For Korean Studies Facebook page at a later date that I could access and post. So far, that is still forthcoming, but I did run across the Fanaccount below from http://jyjsoul.tumblr.com which is affiliated with JYJ3. This was a marvelous find and I wanted to share it with you all.

Responsibility is great when you have so many voices to add into the mix. JYJ fans are passionate people and I thought it important to help get the word out. I was saddened when my server crashed on the 26th of March and my husband had to move http://jyjfantalk.com to a larger server. That meant that the information I was trying to keep out there concerning the Symposium went down with the server. However, the Fanaccount is great and I hope to find even more information at a later date.

Nintendo Korea revealed on the 4th that they have chosen Actress Gong Hyo Jin and JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu to be the campaign models for the Nintendo 3DS software ‘Mario Kart 7′.

Though the quartet were seen only exchanging greetings at the beginning of the filming schedule because it was their first gathering, the atmosphere soon lightened up when they began playing ‘Mario Kart 7′ with the members of JYJ giving Gong Hyo Jin an in-depth explanation of the game.

The members of JYJ, who had enjoyed ‘Mario Kart DS’, the predecessor of ‘Mario Kart 7′, showed their competitive side as they fought for the top spot from the beginning.

When JYJ’s Kim Junsu kept coming in at first place, he confidently remarked, ‘I must be good at this game’ and it was later said that the quartet enjoyed themselves as they changed go-karts according to the course and found their racing styles through various new customized options.

Nintendo Korea made the decision to choose the four celebrities as they believed JYJ would be able to easily understand and showcase the special characteristics of ‘Mario Kart 7′ as the group is known to have enjoyed previous versions of the series while Gong Hyo Jin’s transformation into Mario in her ‘Super Mario 3D Land’ promotions would fit perfectly with the upcoming game.

Meanwhile, Nintendo’s latest game console Nintendo 3DS was released on the 28th of last month with various games such as ‘Super Mario 3D Land’ while ‘Mario Kart 7′ is expected to be released late-May.

Junsu: Elisabeth… When the role of Death god was first given to me… I hesitated a lot… Though I knew better than anyone else that it is a good character in the great work… “Is this really an ‘outfit’ suitable for me?” Such a doubt came to me… But right now at this moment, after the finale performance ended, putting aside whether I did well or not

Junsu: As a musical actor, isn’t it a period of time where I am able to learn a lot of things? I tried thinking like this.. From the start to the end, the Elisabeth cast that became my strength… As we are able to be together and becoming my strength, I felt blessed… Really grateful, and grateful to every audience who cried and laughed together.

Junsu: I didn’t intend to cry… (However) during the last scene when I saw Sunyoung noona… “It’s really the last~” Emotions came over me and I cried in the end… Death is not supposed to be like that… The two Elisbeths Sun Young noona and Joo Hyun noona who cried with me together, really thank you so much for this period of time.

Junsu: We will be forever, leaving while facing peace and freedom, thus please do not cry… ^^
