Max Changmin’s movie will finally reach Korea.

With an amazing cast that includes Max Changmin and Satoshi Tsumabuki, ‘Fly with the Gold’ is set to be screened on the 10th of October.

‘Fly with the Gold’ is based on a novel of the same name that is a best-seller in Japan and won the Japanese deduction and suspense Award in 1990. Kazuyuki Izutsu has taken the reigns as the director and the movie has been recognized for its top quality with awards won at the Takasaki Movie Awards, the Osaka Cinema Festival and the Japanese Academy Awards.

Satoshi Tsumabuki and Tadanobu Asano, top Japanese actors who are well-known in Korea as well, have taken on the leading roles and they are joined by TVXQ’s Max Changmin, a singer who is popular in both countries, as Momo.

Through this production, Max Changmin was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award at the 27th Hochi Film Awards. He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Japanese Academy Awards, as well as the Best Rookie Award at the Japanese Film Critics Awards Ceremony.

TVXQ’s Max Changmin has won the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the Japanese Movie Critics Awards.

The Japanese Movie Critics Awards committee released their schedule and winners list of the awards ceremony, and it was revealed that Max Changmin won the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ for his role as ‘MoMo’ in the movie ‘Run With the Gold’, which was released in November, 2012.

This is Max Changmin’s second newcomer award since receiving the ‘Best Rookie Actor Award’ at the Japanese Academy Awards in March.

The Japanese Movie Critics Awards, which is in its 22nd year, is a highly respectable movie awards ceremony that chooses its winners based on the reviews of movie critics in Japan and will be held on the 2nd of May in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, Max Changmin was chosen as the MC of KBS 2TV’s new variety program ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ and is currently showing a new side of himself to viewers.

TVXQ‘s Changmin received the Newcomer of the Year award at the ‘36th Japanese Academy Awards‘

We reported this earlier and the award show was held at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan on March 8.

Changmin had been cast in the movie ‘Fly With the Gold‘, where he acted out the role of Momo, a bomb specialist from North Korea. Even though he had to act in Japanese, he was able to fully master the distinct dialect for his character and had even been able to fully act out Momo’s pain. His superb acting from the movie allowed him to receive the newcomer award.

TVXQ’s sixth Japanese studio album ‘TIME‘ recently placed first on the Oricon Daily Chart and sold over 160,000 copies on the first day.

It has been decided for the “Fly With The Gold” Blu-ray and DVD to be released on 2 April 2013 (rental will begin on the same date)!
Aside from an outer casing and a copy of the promotional material that was issued to the press (resized version), the collector’s edition this time will include special contents such as behind-the-scenes footage not included in the “Making Of Fly With The Gold” DVD, released 2 October 2012, as well as footage from the showcase and the stage greeting during the premiere. A scene from the movie “Fly With The Gold”, starring Tsumabuki Satoshi, Asano Tadanobu, Kiritani Kenta, Mizobata Junpei and Tohoshinki’s Changmin was released on 2 Oct, in commemoration of “Tofu Day”. The scene features Cho Lee Han (played by Changmin) working part-time at a tofu shop.

“Fly With The Gold” is based on the crime-mystery novel by Takamura Kaoru, and depicts the story of 6 men who try to steal 240 billion yen worth of gold bullions from a bank. It stars Tsumabuki, and is directed by director Kazuyuki Izutsu.

In this movie, Changmin plays the role of Cho Lee Han, who appears to be a university exchange student who works part-time at a tofu shop. He is a mysterious figure, who joins the group as a bomb expert, and whom Koda (Tsumabuki) calls “Momo”. The story depicts how the pasts that each of the characters carry with them causes them to influence the process of the burglary in various ways. The character “Momo”, which Changmin plays, is an undercover spy for his country, and carries past which he cannot reveal to the group. He ends up being the target of people who are after his life.

Director Kazuyuki Izutsu explained that Changmin had been decided for the role of Momo because they “wanted a fresh and real casting”. As it is his first appearance in a Japanese movie, we anticipate the new side of him that will be shown under the guidance of director Kazuyuki Izutsu.

Q: First time participation in a Japanese movie

Changmin: During the beginning scenes of filming as Momo, the sites were at tunnels and undergrounds etc. At that time, I just joined the filming and as compared to other actors, it was difficult for me to get into the character. These might be my excuses… During the beginning stage of getting used to filming, I do not know anything and it was very tough. These left me a deep impression.

 

Q: Acting as Momo

Changmin: Momo, this character, is not a ‘public masses’ character. It’s a niche character. Not only this, he is also someone who did not interact with anyone else and struggle to survive in a dark life with no future. He carries on a tragic fate where he is abandoned by his country and organisation. I always work hard with my own way and anticipate a lot for the movie and worried at the same time.

 

Q: About Director Izutsu Kazuyuki

Changmin: Regarding Director Izutsu Kazuyuki, I heard a lot of rumours about him before the filming and at that time, I felt “Ah… like this. Looks like it’s going to be tough.” But actually Director Izutsu Kazuyuki is very detailed with his directing of acting. Not only this, he also taught me a lot a lot. These became my precious experiences.

“Momo, what else would you like to do in Japan?”
“I wish to eat saba sushi once.”

Q: What is ‘Gold’ to Momo?

Changmin: To be in unison with the one I love and not just surviving alone but with everyone. Doing what I wish to do and feel the happiness from it. If there is this happiness in the heart, this is Momo’s ‘Gold’.

The poster of the movie “Fly With The Gold” (directed by Izutsu Kazuyuki), starring actor Tsumabuki Satoshi, had its first poster revealed on 27 April. The poster features a catch-phase, “Is there something you want more than money?”, along with pictures of the 6 actors, including Tsumabuki, who are involved in attempting to rob the gold bullion in the movie.

The movie is adapted from the debut crime novel of Japanese best-selling author Takamura Kaoru, which was was awarded the Japan Thriller Suspense Award. The plot depicts the story of 6 men who plan an attempt to steal a gold bullion worth 24 billion yen, which is said to lie in the underground vault of a megabank in Osaka. As the plan is executed, the true agenda of these men slowly become clear.

The movie stars Tsumabuki Satoshi, Asano Tadanobu, Kiritani Kenta, Mizobata Junpei, Tohoshinki’s Changmin and Nishida Toshiyuki. The movie will premiere in November.
