For the sake of watching JYJ’s concert in Spain, local fans showed their indomitable spirit as they camped overnight, gaining much attention. On 29 October, JYJ held their first concert in Barcelona. It was surprising to see that it wasn’t just Spanish fans, but fans from all over Europe that flew in and started queuing overnight from 28 October in front of the ticketing center.

The European fans said that it was because “we don’t know when we will next be able to see JYJ in concert,”  and therefore waited on the streets for 28 hours. Some of the fans who were not able to withstand the cold brought tents along. Other fans who wanted to give Junsu a present for his upcoming birthday prepared a special football jersey, and took a photograph of it as proof. This passionate atmosphere was communicated to the rest of the world via JYJ fan pages as well as twitter.

Fans said, “It’s great. We didn’t know that the Korean wave was this popular,” “We’re really proud,” and other supportive messages.

Translation 111029 Kim Junsu Has Firm Grip On Role of ‘Death’ in “Elisabeth

[TRANS] 111029 Kim Junsu Has Firm Grip On Role Of “Death” In “Elisabeth,” Exuding The Charm Of His Twenties

Kim Junsu has been cast in the musical “Elisabeth,” and is set to once again create a sell-out legend.

Starting February next year, Kim Junsu will be appearing in the musical “Elisabeth,” playing the role of death,  bewitching the audience with his irresistible, mysterious charm.

This character “Death,” will fatefully fall in love with Elisabeth, who desires freedom. “Death” tells Elisabeth, who is restrained and confined by the monarchy that he is the only one who can give her freedom, and stays by her side throughout her entire life, tempting her with death. For this performance, Kim Junsu will be playing the role of “Death” together with Ryu Jung Han and Song Chang Eui.

In October 2010 during the “Kim Junsu Musical Concert – Levay and Friends,” Kim Junsu had already performed part of “Death’s” song from “Elisabeth” and received great praise.

Because of this, from the start of production process for “Elisabeth,” the opinion of “Shouldn’t Kim Junsu should play this role (of “Death”)” had been a dominant one. After his performances in “Mozart!” and “Tears of Heaven,” and standing tall in the musical world as a musical actor, there is much anticipation over what kind of storm Kim Junsu will once again create.

A point to note is that this character (of “Death”) transcends gender and time, a fantasy role, and it’s previous overseas performances have seen past actors from their twenties to their fifties, a huge age range. Therefore, one of the key points to enjoy in this musical is how Kim Junsu, who is in his twenties, Song Chang Eui who is in his thirties, and Ryu Jung Han, who is in his forties, three actors in three different age groups each exude a different kind of charm.

Images of these actors displaying varying styles have been also been revealed. We are looking forward to how “Death”, who transcends life and death and disregards the existence of gender, incites subtle feelings in an eclipse-like fantasy setting in a charismatic and lively stage.

Celebrating its 20th year since its first performance in Vienna, the musical “Elisabeth” will be playing from 9 February to 13 May next year at the Blue Square Samsung Electronics Theater.

[TRANS] 111026 The Japanese Media Says, “The Japanese Music Industry Has Become A Slave To K-POP”

A provoking voice has emerged in Japan, saying that the music industry is ‘a slave to K-POP’.

Japan’s Shueisha recently made sarcastic remarks about the K-POP Hallyu Wave through an article with the title, “Incensed by the lack of Shin Ramyun, the Japanese Music Industry has Become a Slave to K-POP”.

The article claimed that though Girls’ Generation has sold over 600,000 copies of their album that was released in June, it’s hard for groups such as TVXQ, T-ARA and KARA to bring in much profit though they’re popular. One representative stated, “We spend 50 million Yen (approximately 700 million Won) on singles and even 15 million Won (approximately 200 million Won) on small events in promotional costs.” The article criticized that the flood of Korea-related magazines being published is overheating the publishing industry.

It was also stated that it is hard to meet the needs of Korean agents. One representative revealed that he was fired because he disagreed with an agent who wielded great power working between his record company and a Korean entertainment agency. It was published that another stated, “Once, a Korean staff member became incensed because he couldn’t find any Shin Ramyun to eat while the celebrity was completing their schedule.”

[TRANS] 111026 JYJ’s Fans Publish A Newspaper Advertisement “Calling For Broadcasted Appearances For JYJ”

[TRANS] 111026 JYJ’s Fans Publish A Newspaper Advertisement “Calling For Broadcasted Appearances For JYJ”

JYJ’s fans have recently published a newspaper article that calls for broadcasted appearances for JYJ.

The reason the fanclub gave for publishing the advertisement was, “JYJ are currently excluded from appearing on variety shows and music programs of most broadcasting companies. The power behind the unjust reason for their exclusion is mighty.

Since leaving SM Entertainment, JYJ have been locked in a lawsuit with SM. Broadcasting companies have been using this as the reason why JYJ have been denied appearances on broadcasted programs, but JYJ’s side is claiming that these companies are excluding JYJ because of SM’s influence.

JYJ have been unable to appear on a single music program of any of the nation’s cable companies, let alone of the three major broadcasting companies.

JYJ are currently in a ‘confirmation of exclusive contract’s invalidity’ lawsuit with SM Entertainment on the grounds of a ‘unjust contract’. The Courts laid down a verdict in both October, 2009 and February 2011 that stated that SM had to ensure that they would not interfere with JYJ’s independent activities in the entertainment industry till the overall verdict was made on the lawsuit.
