[News] 120910 JYJ’s Junsu Performs For A Total of 5,000 Fans in Mexico and Brazil

JYJ‘s Kim Junsu (XIA) put on a superb performance in front of 5,000 fans this past week.

The singer who wrapped up successful shows in New York and Los Angeles continued his World Tour by performing at the Blackberry Auditorium in Mexico on September 6th (KST).

The fans there enthusiastically responded to his visit by perfectly singing along to his songs “TARANTALLEGRA“, “UNCOMMITTED“, “I Don’t Like Love“, “Set Me Free“, and more.

3,500 fans flocked to this performance in Mexico, and the local media outlets as well as the cultural center were shocked to see that the show had completely sold out.

Producer Alex of Mexico Media TV ‘Azteca’ remarked, “Kim Junsu (XIA) is a total performer. His independent solo album was amazing, and we feel his performance today was also remarkable. We would like to continue to share news regarding Junsu (XIA) with the Mexican fans in the future.”

And after observing Junsu’s show, Seo Nam Kyo of the Korean Culture Institue in Mexico remarked, “There are about 50,000 Hallyu fans in Mexico, and I knew that K-Pop was popular amongst the young people, however, I truly felt it after seeing this performance today. It was a performance where I was able to realize why Junsu was indeed so popular, and I hope that starting with this concert, more and more Mexicans will be able to get to know Korea.”

As soon as his performance in Mexico came to an end, Junsu got on a plane the next day to perform at Espacio Victory in São Paulo, Brazil. At the performance where 1,300 fans were present, Junsu made the crowd go wild when he stated in Portugese, ‘Obrigado (thank you)‘, and ‘Amore (I love you)‘.”

Coming to South America to perform an independent concert was a huge challenge on my part, and I was concerned about a few different things because I could not utilize the greatest equipment, but those concerns vanished once I arrived,” Junsu said. “There were so many fans who loved my songs, and I earned new energy. I would like to take responsibility to successfully wrap up the rest of my World Tour.”

[Fanaccount] 120902 XIA 1st World Tour Concert in LA

[Fanaccount] 120902 XIA 1st World Tour Concert in LA

So much I saw, so much to say, yet so speechless during Junsu’s actual live performance >.<

People I met: I thought I had to make sacrifices to make it here, but others really showed their support for Junsu. This was my first ever JYJ/DBSK anything concert ever (went to JYJ LA showcase but not actual concert) so I was not anticipating the global support Junsu and the rest of JYJ has! Met fans from Canada, Japan, Thailand, China and Vietnam. From states: Utah, Nevada, Washington, and of course California.

-Also got really close to a Korean Fan, who is studying abroad here at the perfect time for the concert. She is AMAZINGG. Was a fan since Debut DBSK days, still a fan of them all, and almost 10 years and counting!! I was such a nuisance, kept asking so many inside scoops on our boys. And boy, did she know A LOT. K-fans really do keep a lot to themselves haha ^^;; For instance she said some fact/faction on some of their dating life but we couldn’t go too deep b/c of our communication issues. PS: She said I could fan account what she says as she can’t really write in English, and I will remark on her a lot x)

-Talked with Automatic and his Fiancé! Automatic, was a star! He was so chill with talking to Su’s fans and getting pictures. His fiancé told our group that she was happy to work with Junsu, and –cross fingers- with JYJ in the future. It was also her that helped Su with his English for Uncommitted. We said thanks for trying her best as his English coach HEHE b/c he really did improve!

The Line: Thank you to JYJ4SF for preparing so much for us (lightsticks, bookmarks, signs etc.) while waiting for so long! One scene I might be embarrassed about was when we were moving into the Hollywood Palladium, there was food/drink litter and trash EVERYWHERE from waiting in the long lines. My new Korean friend said, that NEVER in Korea would they trash the outside venue because they did not want to tarnish the name of JYJ/Junsu. YIKES, I felt ashamed, though I do admit this part of Hollywood can’t be much cleaner.

Venue: The venue itself was small but intimate for Junsu’s LA concert. Top floor was not open for general audience, only Automatic and other VIP guests went up there. I heard standing floor VIP was sold out, and looked filled to me. Even where I stood in general admission, it was partially full. Love the turnout! There would have been more red and special glowsticks visible too if they were not confiscated by staff at the gate -_- But one good thing about a smaller venue, everyone can practically have a good view of Su.

ACTUAL CONCERT: I’m at a loss of words. I was calm before waiting in line, and then anticipation and excitement arose! I yelled at times, but wanted to hear all of Su’s incredible live singing so did not jump around as much. It went by too fast, and I didn’t wanna miss a single beat. JUNSU came out, and I felt all our adrenaline, blood pumping. My feet were not tired or sore anymore.

-I couldn’t tell, but my Korean friend whose seen him countless of times in Korea said his condition isn’t his best. He was not sick it seems, but prolly due to jetlag and back to back concerts. I thought he was so powerful, intense and energetic!

-FAVORITE SONGS: All were FANTASTIC but must see are Tarantellegra, No gain, INTOXICATION, Elizabeth, and Uncommitted. My favorite ballads: Round and Round, You are so Beautiful. Su even ripped his pants in Uncommitted but played it off well. Couldn’t see in my area, until he left stage suddenly, quickly changed, and told us about it. Su said it was a treat for those who were able to catch that haha.

-During Genie Time, Junsu received a soccer jersey shirt as a gift! Don’t think it counted as a wish. He did Angel Xiah (which he STILL LOVES TO DO based on my k-fan friend, but is shyer as he ages and with men around). He said happy birthday to a fan (lucky girl!), and we wanted him to do an Oyaji gag, but declined prolly cause most of us can’t understand. You underestimate us Su, how can we not know your favorite gags?! He finally did Gangnam style with all our persuading as our last wish!! Maybe he be more comfortable with music on, but I like seeing him all cute and awkward LOL. He said he can’t really do it, cause he simply watched the video but never tried learning it. Junsu, please. You are a fast learner haha, and you say you listen to Gangnam style frequently in your cyworld interview too. Interpreter said Junsu did meet Psy in LA just recently as a plus!

-A fan boy said something prolly like an “I love you Junsu!” and Su replied with his lively English words he knows, sorta like, “WOOH! CHHYEAA! OK! THANK YOU!”

-Fallen Leaves: Yes, he chocked near the end of the performance. No tears, but definitely watery eyed. Aww Su, this song is very meaningful to you and still gets you emotional. Kind of ironic because my Korean friend said she wants to see Junsu cry because in all her concerts seeing him, he never cried! Now she’s saying, “Uljima (don’t cry)!)” He paused a bit to collect himself, tried to smile a bit for us, breathed a big breath, and continued to complete the song. BEAUTIFUL.

CONCLUSION: Honestly, I am not even Junsu biased but Junsu truly captured my heart during this two hour event. I understand why Junsu is so sexy yet so cute, so childlike yet so mature/charismatic! He really is a 110% performer/artist. I can admit no one can hit dance moves with live vocals as spot on as him. It went by too fast. They really do leave us with wanting more huh?! I went by myself, came away with unforgettable memories.
I was trying to make it short but was much longer than expected so sorry! Overall, my favorite and BEST CONCERT I’ve ever been to! No exaggeration needed.

thanks: Alyssa (a reader of sharingyoochun!)

[Info] FIESTAR Talks About Working With JYJ Member Junsu For “Vista” MV

[Info] FIESTAR Talks About Working With JYJ Member Junsu For “Vista” MV

Rookie girl group FIESTAR is earning an explosive reaction from the public after releasing the MV for their new song “Vista“. This kind of response is not only due to their specific talents as musicians, but also due to the special feature in the video by JYJ member Junsu (XIA).

Fans were pleasantly surprised to see the unexpected feature by Junsu, and this led to a further interest in the girl group, helping FIESTAR further promote their name.

In regards to working with Junsu, the member of FIESTAR remarked, “He is one of the many seniors we members really respect, and Hyemi especially is a die-hard fan. We were saying that it would be amazing if we could cast senior Junsu for the role, but we had no idea he would really make an appearance. We were so excited.”

When the girls met Junsu for the first time on the day of the MV shoot, all they managed to say was, “He’s really amazing.” With glowing expressions, the girls remarked, “He looked so amazing, the way he was so chic while playing the role of the superhero. We were so nervous that we barely managed to say hello, but he was so friendly and thoughtful, and we fell for him once again when he told us that he hoped we would do really well.”

Of all the members, only Jei was lucky enough to shoot a short scene with Junsu where she is starstruck after seeing him walk by the dressing room. Thinking back to that day, Jei remarked, “I didnt even realize I was blankly staring at senior Junsu with my mouth open, and the director praised my first acting attempt, telling me it looked truly realistic.”

After their short but memorable meeting with Junsu, the girls said, “We were really impressed that he meticulously checked everything on set, despite being a top star. If we too become a star, we would like to work as humbly and hard as senior Junsu.”

120912 Editors Note: The Work of Public Service–A Commitment

I’ve worked in public service positions my entire adult life. Public Service is rewarding in some aspects, but it can carry severe risk. A public servant is subject to whom he/she serves–the people. In the instance of Chris Stevens–the political morass called world politics.

So why do people choose to serve in the public arena? What compels an individual to risk life and limb, or even reputation, in the struggle to help others. I believe that there is a call on a person’s life that they recognize early on, and this call continues to persist until it becomes reality.

Public service encompasses many fields and has many applications. On a local scale it is the teacher, counselor, preacher, policeman, librarian, social worker, editor…I could go on. On the national and international level it is the Newscaster, the Senator, the Representative, the Judge, the President, the King/Queen, the Soldier, the Ambassasor… By the term public, the nature of the work is made known, and the implications of the task are defined. To perform public service work you must engage the public and all that term implies. This is where the rubber meets the road.

Commitment is a strong concept and action, and there are many who cannot commit. This is because committing involves giving over a large part of yourself to someone else’s control. It means serving when your own natural instincts scream “no”. It means making the decision to risk a loss in the effort to lift someone else up. It can span as wide as a neighborhood, a town, a nation, or the world. Over the span of history many public figures have been martyed.

I salute Ambassador Chris Stevens for the ultimate sacrifice he and others like him have made in the cause for peace. May their effort on behalf of the common good last for eternity to inspire others to also toil to serve the struggling masses regardless of differences in ideology or societal norms.

Chris Stevens, U.S. Ambassador to Libya Killed in Rocket Attack

Chris Stevens, U.S. Ambassador to Libya Killed in Rocket Attack, Served As Envoy During Revolution

Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya killed along with three others in a rocket attack outside the American Consulate in Benghazi—ignited by protesters angry over a film they say insults Prophet Muhammad—was “a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States,” President Barack Obama said in his initial statement Wednesday condemning the attack.

Initial reports said the slain embassy staffers—who also include foreign service information management officer Sean Smith—were trying to flee the consulate building when they were fired upon. According to the Associated Press, a Libyan doctor who treated Stevens said the diplomat died of severe asphyxiation from smoke inhalation and that he tried for 90 minutes to revive him.

Stevens, 52, was the first U.S. ambassador killed in the line of duty since 1979, when Adolph Dubs, U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, was gunned down in a kidnapping attempt.

[Also read: President Obama’s statement on attack in Benghazi]

“Throughout the Libyan revolution, [Stevens] selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi,” Obama said. “As ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya’s transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.”

Stevens, a California native and U.C.-Berkeley grad, was a 21-year veteran of foreign service, the White House said.

“I had the privilege of swearing in Chris for his post in Libya only a few months ago,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a separate statement. “He spoke eloquently about his passion for service, for diplomacy and for the Libyan people. This assignment was only the latest in his more than two decades of dedication to advancing closer ties with the people of the Middle East and North Africa.

“As the conflict in Libya unfolded, Chris was one of the first Americans on the ground in Benghazi,” Clinton continued. “He risked his own life to lend the Libyan people a helping hand to build the foundation for a new, free nation. He spent every day since helping to finish the work that he started. Chris was committed to advancing America’s values and interests, even when that meant putting himself in danger.”

In response to the attack, the United States is “deploying elite Marine counterterrorism teams to Libya,” Foreign Policy reports. The Pentagon is sending Fleet Anti-Terrorism Teams, or FAST teams, a U.S. defense official told the magazine.

“It’s especially tragic because Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city he fought to save,” Obama said later Wednesday morning in hastily arranged public remarks in the Rose Garden of the White House.

Speaking at an impromptu press conference in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday, Mitt Romney condemned Tuesday’s attacks as “disgusting” and “outrageous,” but he also attacked the Obama administration for standing by a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo that he claimed was an “apology” for American values.

[Related: Romney attacks Obama for sending ‘mixed signals’ on Middle East violence]

Late Tuesday, Romney issued a statement saying it was “disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.” On Wednesday, he stood by his criticism of the White House.

Here’s Stevens’ bio from the U.S. Embassy website:

Ambassador Chris Stevens considers himself fortunate to participate in this incredible period of change and hope for Libya. As the President’s representative, his job is to develop a strong, mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Libya. Ambassador Stevens was the American representative to the Transitional National Council in Benghazi during the revolution.

When he’s not meeting with government officials or foreign diplomats, you can find Ambassador Stevens meeting with Libyan academics, business people, and civil society activists, exploring Libya’s rich archaeological sites, and enjoying Libya’s varied cuisine.

After several diplomatic assignments in the Middle East and North Africa, Ambassador Stevens understands and speaks Arabic and French. He likes the Facebook page of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli and hopes you will, too.

“I had the honor to serve as the U.S. envoy to the Libyan opposition during the revolution,” Stevens said in May in a video introducing himself to the Libyan people as the new U.S. ambassador there. “And I was thrilled to watch the Libyan people stand up and demand their rights.

[Slideshow: Gunmen storm U.S. consulate in Libya]

“Growing up in California I didn’t know much about the Arab world,” Stevens continued. “I traveled to North Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer, worked as an English teacher in a town in the high Atlas mountains in Morocco for two years and quickly grew to love this part of the world.

“We know Libya is still recovering from an intense period of conflict,” he added. “There are many courageous Libyans who wear the scars of that battle.”
