A great piece of advice 🙂
(Jaejoong, 12:59am KST) I met Park Chan Ho for the first time in eight years and he gave me a book. It has a lot of good things to take away from it. “It’s not how you start, but how you finish.”

Junsu… why are you tweeting at 3 in the morning D: SLEEP
(Junsu, 3:04am KST) My mother asked me a question after my Thursday performance.
Mother: Why can’t we hear you breathe before your ‘The Last Dance’ number like last year?
Me: …huh? But I’ve been doing it exactly like I did last year since my first performance?
Mother: I couldn’t hear it though?
haha Yes.. My microphone had never been turned on for it.

(Junsu, 3:08am KST) I had been doing all the breathing without realizing that my microphone wasn’t on.. haha I went straight to the director before my two Sunday performances yesterday when I reached the Seoul Arts Center and asked him to turn the microphone on as soon as I appear on the bridge with the sound of the bell chimes! ..My breathing could only be heard from yesterday’s Sunday performances lol

(Junsu, 3:16am KST) Ah! It wasn’t the fault of the sound team^^ It was just that it wasn’t discussed like it had been for last year’s performances, and I had been added to the process at a later time.. It just wasn’t agreed upon earlier haha I’ll make sure to provide you all with a variety of breathing noises from now on~~

I want to see you perform too ;___;
(Kkang Jjune, 3:11am KST) @1215thexiahtic I’ll make sure to go watch you when I get back to Korea 🙂
(Junsu, 3:17am KST) @kkangjjune Call me when you get to Korea^^

[TRANS] 130815 ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master’ To Receive An Appreciation Plaque From The Korean Sports Association

ourneighborhoodplaqueOur Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ is set to receive an appreciation plaque from the Korean Sports For All Association.

During the press conference of KBS 2TV’s ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’, PD Lee Yae Ji  announced that the show would be receiving an appreciation plaque from the Korean Sports For All Association.

Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ has been promoting sports activities to its viewers through various missions that had its team playing table tennis, bowling and badminton. One stadium even said that their sales have gone up by 30 million Won because of the show.

Regarding this, PD Lee stated, “We’re grateful for the positive reception. Many sports representatives have been suggesting new sports activities for us to try. So the staff are in a conundrum on what our celebrity team should play next.”

She continued to say, “We have the honor of receiving an appreciation plaque from the Korean Sports For All Association for our team’s work on bowling and table tennis. With Lee Byung Jin, Jo Dal Hwan and Park Sung Ho working as ambassadors for the association, so they will probably be receiving the award on behalf of the program. [TRANS] 130817 [Reporter’s Notebook] The Task TVXQ’s Nissan Stadium Concert Has Given K-pop’s Hallyu Wave

hominnissanstadiumtaskTVXQ (U-Know Yunho, Max Changmin) have reached the pinnacle of the Hallyu Wave’s popularity. They will be holding a concert at Japan’s Nissan Stadium (seats 72,000) for two days.

On the 17th and 18th of August, TVXQ will be holding the finale of their ‘TVXQ LIVE TOUR 2013 ~TIME~’ Five Dome tour at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, Japan.

A Five Dome tour is a tour that is held in Japan’s five major dome stadiums (Tokyo Dome, Osaka Dome, Nagoya Dome, Fukuoka Dome, Sapporo Dome). Each performance attracts at least 30,000 people and Tokyo Dome can hold the largest capacity of 50,000 people per performance. If two concerts are held in each dome, a Five Dome tour can attract a total of 300,000 people.

Only a handful of singers have held such a tour. Singers who have held such Five Dome tours leave their mark in the music industry as ‘legendary singers’.

What is more impressive than a dome concert is a concert at the Nissan Stadium. With approximately 70,000 audience members per performance, many call it ‘the concert of dreams’.

The Nissan Stadium (formerly known as the Yokohama International Stadium) was built in 1998 and boasts the largest seating capacity of 72,327. It is the place where the finals of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup was held. There have only been nine singers who have held concerts in the stadium, and they are the Southern All Stars (2004, 2008), Mister Children (2007), B’z (2008), Glay (2009), X-JAPAN (2010), L’Arc En Ciel (2012), Eikichi Yazawa (2012), AKB48 (2013) and Momoiro Clover Z (2013).

Singers who have held concerts at the venue are called ‘the legend of all legends’, ‘the nation’s singer’ or ‘the rookies who have taken the nation by storm’. What must it feel like to hold a concert for 72,000 at once? Singers who have stood on the stage of Nissan Stadium say, ‘It feels like you’re God, looking down at the people of the world.’

hominnissanstadiumtask1

TVXQ are now set to be the first non-Japanese singers to hold a concert at the Nissan Stadium.

It could be said that this will be the pinnacle of K-pop’s Hallyu Wave. A Five Dome tour followed by a concert at the Nissan Stadium. Such a task is not an easy feat that any popular singer can accomplish. When looking at accomplishments in Japanese concerts, TVXQ have climbed as high as they possibly can.

However, TVXQ’s Nissan Stadium concert does not guarantee the longevity of the Hallyu Wave’s popularity in Japan.

TVXQ are basically considered the founders of Japan’s Hallyu boom of K-pop boy bands. It’s already been more than eight years since they made their Japanese debut. Therefore, their Nissan Stadium concert should be seen as the rewards that come from eight years of hard work and experience that TVXQ have put into their Japanese activities.

For K-pop’s Hallyu Wave to continue in Japan, TVXQ’s juniors have a big task ahead of them. The domestic music market should focus more on helping talented rookies with new contents grow and develop rather than being swept up in the euphoria that TVXQ’s Nissan Stadium concert signifies the power of K-pop’s Hallyu Wave.

[TRANS] 130814 ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master’ Hits Its Highest Viewership Of 7.5% With Max Changmin’s Endless Charm

minnieshieldourneighborhood

Max Changmin has become the shield of ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’. During the episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ that aired on the 13th, the celebrity team had their first away badminton match in Doogu-dong, Busan.

On this day, Max Changmin’s stunning visuals became a topic as hot as the matches that took place. Though the matches were so tight that it was difficult to guess who would come out on top, the Doogu-dong team began talking about Max Changmin’s good looks rather than the game.

With the voices of the female players getting louder, Shin Da Seul, an elementary school student (10) said, “It would have been nice to have gone against Max Changmin,” while Lee Shi Jung (27) said, “I would feel great playing against him, even if I lost.”

With the phrase, “How could I possibly smash the birdie at that (good-looking) face?” summing up their feelings for Max Changmin, his out-of-this-world good looks may become the celebrity team’s greatest weapon.

During the team’s first badminton match against the Joonggok-dong team, a woman on the opposing team took one look at Nickhun’s burning gaze and said, “I can’t serve this birdie.” With Max Changmin’s good looks now becoming a hot topic and stopping the female players in their tracks, the power of the celebrity team’s ‘handsome guy’ has hit full force.

After the episode, netizens left comments such as, “Changmin’s cheers were loud and energetic”, “It was great to see families participating in sports together.. It was heartwarming~”, “It must be amazing to go head to head in a badminton match against Max Changmin.. I’d be wondering if I was I was dreaming or not.”

Meanwhile, the celebrity team’s hard efforts are paying off with a rise in viewership for the show. ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ recorded a 0.2% rise in ratings this week to come to a total of a 7.5%, the highest viewership the show’s ever had.

[TRANS] 130813 Kim Jaejoong’s Thoughts On Narrating ‘The Zoo Is Alive’, “I Had A Hard Time Pronouncing Gorilla”

jaedocumentarygorillaIdol group JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong revealed his thoughts on narrating MBC’s ‘Documentary Special – The Zoo Is Alive 2′.

On the 12th, the staff of the documentary released a behind-the-scenes video of Kim Jaejoong’s work as a narrator for ‘The Zoo is Alive 2′ on their official homepage.

The video shows Kim Jaejoong smiling contentedly at the animals acting cute to their zookeeper, and pouting after making multiple mistakes and saying, “I can’t pronounce gorilla.”

In the interview that followed, Kim Jaejoong said, “I had so much fun (narrating the documentary). It was a little hard because I had to talk so much, but I had fun.”

He also added, “I decided to participate in the project because I love animals. This is something that even our fans know, and I have a lot of animal-related things in my house because I love animals so much. I have real animals, as well as animal dolls. That’s why I really wanted to participate in this documentary.”

Kim Jaejoong ended his interview by stating, “What I felt while recording my narration was that zoos need to evolve from places where you ‘look at animals’ to places that foster love and protection for them. I will do my best to be one of the frontrunners of this movement.”

‘Documentary Special – The Zoo is Alive’ followed the stories of baby tigers, a gorilla couple that refused to get close, and a baby hippo that lost its mother.

[TRANS] 130812 JYJ’s Kim Junsu Says At His Busan Concert, “Singing Would Be Meaningless If There Were No Fans”

juneincrediblebusan

JYJ’s Kim Junsu has completed the fourth leg of his Asia tour in success.

A representative of C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Since releasing his second album on the 15th of July, Kim Junsu has successfully toured four cities in a month. Starting in Bangkok, Thailand and moving on to Shanghai, China, and Seoul and Busan in Korea, Kim Junsu has been praised for his ever-evolving stages. Not only did he pull off a perfect performance, but his idea of granting three wishes every concert has been met with an explosive response as a great idea for fan service. The first act of Kim Junsu’s second solo album tour has come to an end.”

This latest tour was named ‘XIA 2nd ASIA TOUR in BUSAN’. The day’s performance was composed of a setlist containing songs from his first and second album, as well as his OST songs. Kim Junsu performed heart-wrenching ballads such as ‘Sorry’, ‘Don’t Go’, and ‘Love is like a Snowflake’, as well as explosive and energetic songs such as ‘Turn it up’, ‘Incredible’ and ‘Fantasy’ with Jeri Slaughter’s dance crew to create the perfect concert.

With Kim Junsu’s concert being held in the city of passion, the response he received was out of this world. Even before the concert had begun, fans began chanting Kim Junsu’s songs together and during the concert, they responded to Kim Junsu’s each and every move. When Kim Junsu sang ‘I’m Confessing Right Now, OK?’, fans held placards that said ‘Junsu, Thank You’ and when he sang ‘Sorry’ for his encore, they all switched to blue fanlights to create a sea of blue. In response, Kim Junsu bowed before the song and said, “Thank you for the blue ocean.”

During ‘Genie Time’, when Kim Junsu granted his fans’ wishes, he sang ‘Golden Star’ from the musical ‘Mozart!’, as well as first part of ‘Cherry Blossom Ending’. The most special wish an encore of ‘Incredible’. The fan had fallen in love with the upbeat rhythm and powerful choreography that had everyone in the venue getting up to dance, and Kim Junsu got back on stage after the concert was over to perform the song a second time.

Jeri Slaughter made a surprise appearance on stage and said, “This is the first time I’ve stepped on stage since Janet Jackson’s concert four years ago. I did my best because I was so impressed by Junsu’s care and attention for his fans. The fans’ reaction and response was amazing. It was an incredible moment! Kim Junsu’s music is a never-ending story. His passion will never die.”

Kim Junsu expressed his gratitude and said, “I believe that releasing albums and holding concerts is a way to repay you all for the love you have given me. Though I became a singer because I love to sing, singing would be meaningless if there were no fans. As long as there are fans out there who want to listen to my music, I will always be here to sing for you.”

Meanwhile, Kim Junsu will now be returning to the stage as a musical actor for the musical ‘Elisabeth’. He plans to kick off the second part of his tour in Sydney, Australia on the 28th of September.

[TRANS] The JYJ Magazine No. 2 (July 2013)

Hello, my lovely ladies (and gents – if you’re out there?)!

Unlike the last magazine, we were able to order a copy of the second edition of THE JYJ MAGAZINE No.2 on time!

We wanted to share the amazing and funny stories that lay within the magazine pages with you, so we decided to translate the entire magazine.

It’s a little shorter than the first edition (half a year is much easier to cover than 1000 days, no?) but that doesn’t mean it was an easy task for us to take on.
Which is why, in order to prevent any illegal misuses of our work, we have decided to post a pdf version of our work only.

Also, taking apart a magazine to scan, and then taking those scans and adding in the English text is a lot of work, and a waste of a good magazine (since we can’t put it back together again), so we have decided not to provide all the images with the text.

However, we hope you enjoy reading this magazine as much as we did.
And we hope it brings you a little closer to Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu.

Happy readings, and when you share, please remember to use proper credits!
