[TRANS] 131022 Musical ‘December’ To Hold A Large-Scale Showcase… Kim Junsu WIll Sing The Main Theme Song

The musical ‘December: The Song That Hasn’t Ended’ will be holding a 1,000-seat showcase on the 31st of October at the Sejong Culture Centre.

‘December’ will feature Park Gun Hyung, Kim Junsu, Oh So Yeon and Kim Seul Gi as the leading roles and will feature a special event that invites 1,000 audience members to get a glimpse of the musical that centers around the late Kim Kwang Seok’s music. The showcase will be attended by CEO Kim Woo Taek of NEW, the Sejong Culture CEntre’s Yoo In Taek and Director Jang Jin. Park Gun Hyun, Kim Junsu, Oh So Yeon and Kim Seul Gi will also be joining them as they hold a press conference and perform a few musical numbers. Kim Kwang Seok’s study notes and unreleased songs will also be revealed during the event.

The tickets will be sold at 1,000 Won on Interpark as part of the ’1,000 Won Happiness’ event. The money that is earned from the event will be donated to society. The musical ‘December’ has been created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kim Kwang Seok’s birth and is a jukebox musical that features Kim Kwang Seok’s compositions and unreleased songs. Director Jang Jin will combine a strong storyline and the best technology in the industry to go with Kim Kwang Seok’s music to create a new musical. The show will commence on the 16th of December at the Sejong Culture Centre.

Especially consdiering the fact that some concerts already have begun selling tickets, people are busy looking for great musicals to watch and nabbing the best seats in the house.

The hottest musicals that are set to make their debut this year are ‘Wicked’ (Korean), ‘December: The Song That Hasn’t Ended’ and ‘Ghost’. All three will be making their debut in the Korean industry for the first time. Considering the fact that it’s difficult to gauge how good a musical is if it’s never been shown before, it’s natural for musical lovers to be skeptical about these productions. Because of this, ‘Wicked’ is obviously the favorite of the list with a 96% ticket reservation rate (Interpark), attracting 200,000 people in the shortest time ever. Musical columnist Jung Da Hoon stated, “It’s not easy to guess the success level of a debuting musical,” and “Considering the fact that ‘Wicked’ has a storyline and music that has already been recognized, many are excited for it.”

‘Ghost’, which comes all the way from the 5-trillion Won industry of the UK’s West End, stands out as having a well-built storyline, which is familiar as the movie the musical is based on was released in Korea in 1990. The original movie’s popularity and familiarity are the greatest weapon of ‘Ghost’.

‘December’ is in the most unfavorable position as it has never been shown before. However, it has more than enough up its sleeve to come out on top. Bringing in Kim Junsu, who has the biggest ‘ticket power’ in the industry, and teaming him up with Kim Kwang Seok’s music. The smart choices made by NEW, the movie production company making its debut in the musical industry with the upcoming production, have proven that ‘December’ is a force to be reckoned with. Many representatives in the industry have voiced their opinion that in terms of competitiveness of cast members, ‘December’ comes out on top though ‘Wicked’ has Ok Joo Hyun and ‘Ghost’ has Joo Won. Kim Junsu has won the popularity award for the fourth consecutive year.

The 19th ‘Korean Musical Awards’ was held today at Kyunghee University and was hosted by Yoo Jun Sang and Oh Man Seok.

On this day, Hong Ji Min and Seol&Company’s CEO Seol Do Yoon appeared on stage to award the popularity award to Jo Seung Woo, Kim Junsu, Kim So Hyun and Ok Joo Hyun.

Kim Junsu began his acceptance speech by stating, “First of all, I’d like to say thank you. I came from Japan in great spirits as I knew I would be awarding the Best Musical Actor award to someone tonight, and I’m thrilled to be receiving this award on top of that.”

He continued to say, “This is something I say over and over again, but I find this award more meaningful as it was won by the power of the audience,” and “I would like to thank everyone who believed in me when I first started out in the musical industry.”

Kim Junsu, who had been staying in Japan, has made a surprise return trip to Korea.

Kim Junsu left for Tokyo on the 3rd for the Japanese leg of his ‘XIA 2nd Asia Tour Concert’ tour. He plans to stay in Japan for two weeks and meet with a total of 60,000 fans in Nagoya and Yokohama.

However, Kim Junsu made a surprise appearance at Gimpo Airport at 11a.m. this morning, a day before his first concert.

Kim Junsu’s surprise return got him back to Korea for the ’19th Korean Musical Awards’, that was held tonight at 5:20p.m. at Kyung Hee University’s Hall of Peace. Having received the Best Musical Actor Award last year for his role in ‘Elisabeth’, Kim Junsu was scheduled to appear on stage with Ok Joo Hyun to announce this year’s winner.

Kim Junsu’s schedule today was a miraculous occurrence. With news that a typhoon would pass through the Korean peninsula today, Kim Junsu was unable to sleep for several nights at the thought that he would not be able to land in Korea. Luckily, the typhoon rerouted to China, but the news was soon followed by the announcement that another typhoon would be replacing it.

When it was told that the second typhoon would affect Japan on the 8th, the starting day of Kim Junsu’s Japanese tour, a representative of the concert stated, “There’s a high possibility that the plane won’t be able to depart, so please don’t go to the awards ceremony.” As his Japanese concerts are a promise to his fans, Kim Junsu could not brush off the request of his Japanese staff.

After mulling over his possibilities, Kim Junsu decided to fly back to Korea. Kim Junsu’s love for musicals, that not even a typhoon could stop, eventually overcame his Japanese staff’s requests.

Meanwhile, Kim Junsu headed straight for a hair salon in Gangnam as soon as he landed in Gimpo Airport to prepare for the awards ceremony.

He showcased his power as a solo singer when he sold out all 200,000 copies of his first mini album and repackage album early this year. Considering the fact that this will be Kim Jaejoong’s first full-length album, he will be featuring his unique take on rock music that is more approachable to the masses. He is currently in the finishing stage of his work.

Meanwhile, Kim Junsu will be continuing his Asia tour, which he began in July, till the middle of October and will then return to the musical industry in December. With an incomparable popularity in the musical industry, Kim Junsu will be taking on the music of the late singer, Kim Kwang Seok in his fourth musical, ‘December: the song that never ends’. The musical will be held from December at the Sejong Culture Center in Seoul, and he will be working with Director Jang Jin. After saying goodbye to ‘Elisabeth‘ and getting a standing ovation, JYJ‘s Junsu has been confirmed for his next musical ‘December‘!

C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Junsu will take on his next musical ‘December’. As much as he received love from the public through his musicals during the past three years, he is positively reviewing this production through which he will be able to show the depth of another character. [Junsu] decided to feature in the creative musical with Kim Kwang Suk sunbaenim’s music, which portrays the story of a young man’s life.”

The agency also let fans know that in the meantime, Junsu plans to carry out the remainder of his tour in Australia this weekend and then Japan.

Though Junsu’s schedule won’t be available until next month, ‘December’ will open its curtains at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts this December!

[TRANS] 130829 [C-JeS] We Would Like To Address The Issue Surrounding ‘EMK Musical Company’s Official Statement’

EMK Musical Company recently posted their official statement regarding an interview in HEREN.

In an interview with HEREN, Robert Johanson, the director of the musical ‘Elisabeth’, mentioned Kim Junsu’s fans when talking about the concerns surrounding Kim Junsu and Ok Joo Hyun working together in last year’s Elisabeth performances, and we raised an issue with EMK on the problematic nature of this statement.

There were two main points that we requested from EMK.

As this statement was an untruthful report that may cause readers to misunderstand the situation, we requested that they release a statement rectifying the content that provided false information to many people. However, ’s recent apology on their mistranslation of the interview was not 100% in accordance with the solution we had requested, so we will strive to properly explain and rectify the problem with and reporters of concert culture.

Our other request was to send Robert Johanson an e-mail and rectify his misunderstanding of the situation. The e-mail we sent was not one that asked for an apology to Kim Junsu’s fans, instead, it urged him to see the truth of the situation and rectify his view of what fans are like since we have never received a formal objection from the management company in charge (*as we believe that if there was an issue, the management company couldn’t possibly not know about it) on the ‘discontent and dissatisfaction regarding the cast members’ last year that was mentioned in the interview.

What we would like to set straight with the management company is that we have never received any ‘requests’ or ‘complaints’ from fans regarding the choice in musical or cast members since Kim Junsu made his debut in 2010.

The people who came to watch <Mozart!> in 2010, and were who loved musicals and had a certain level of affection for these productions. We believe it is wrong to simply classify these , who gave all of their applause and cheers to the cast and crew for putting all their passion into their work, as .

Because of this, we hope that the official statement and apology that was released was created to highlight and rectify the false information that was reported to who love the musical ‘Elisabeth’, rather than being directed towards a certain or .

Additionally, the amazing ticket power and ability to introduce Korean musicals to the rest of the world were a phenomenon stemming from the sincerity and passion of Actor Kim Junsu, and he will continue to work hard to repay the sincere applause that he receives every performance with the best performance he can possibly give.

Although we had agreed to each release an official statement after organizing the response to our requests and the series of events that led to this situation, EMK Musical Company released their official statement today without sharing it with us in advance, and we would like to apologize for posting our own official statement separately.
