[News] 130329 Junsu’s $13.5 Million Investment in Hotel on Jeju Island Nearing Completion

[News] 130329 Junsu’s $13.5 Million Investment in Hotel on Jeju Island Nearing Completion

JYJ‘s Junsu hotel resort on Jeju Island is nearing completion.

Back in 2011, he received permission to build the hotel in Gangjeong-dong, Seogwipo-si. The hotel will be named ‘Jeju Toscana Family Hotel’, and Junsu’s father will be in charge of managing the hotel. Most of the hotel is already completed, and on March 23, they held a semi-opening which Junsu attended.

The original plans for the hotel were for it to encompass 76,780 square feet but they decided to expand it further to 87,768 square feet. The hotel is four stories high and also has a basement level. It’s reported that Junsu invested around 15 billion KRW (approximately $13,500,000 USD) of his own money into the hotel.

A real estate representative thought it was advantageous to have a big name attached to the hotel, stating, “Since the Hallyu idol Junsu is connected to the hotel, if JYJ holds any of their events at the hotel, tourism will naturally rise. Then, the surrounding businesses will be vitalized, and he’ll help spread the name of the city.

[News] 130325 JYJ’s Junsu Visits MBC Building For The First Time in 4 Years

[News] 130325 JYJ’s Junsu Visits MBC Building For The First Time in 4 Years

JYJ‘s Junsu was reported to have lent his voice to the MBC documentary ‘The Zoo Is Alive‘, and the show finally aired!

Junsu was happy to visit the MBC building for the first time in 4 years.

Even though he didn’t appear on the show and it was just his voice being used, this was his first time participating on an MBC program properly. After leaving his previous label, he’d only been on MBC programs for very brief moments during interviews. Jaejoong and Yoochun had been on the broadcasts through their dramas, but Junsu had only been active as a singer and a musical actor, so he worked passionately for the program.

Junsu had shared, “The images of the animals became so lovable. Through this documentary, I hope that you gain more interest in animals. The story is very entertaining and heartwarming so I hope that many people watch it and use it as a healing time.”

[TRANS] 130318 JYJ’s Jaejoong Says, “Asia Tour Fanmeet-Concert… I’m Happy To Be Connecting With My Fans”

[TRANS] 130318 JYJ’s Jaejoong Says, “Asia Tour Fanmeet-Concert… I’m Happy To Be Connecting With My Fans”

I’m happy about my Asia tour concert because it helps me connect with my fans.”

Amidst his Asia tour fanmeet and concert, JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong opened up about his feelings and determination.

On the 16th Kim Jaejoong met with Korean reporters for a press conference ahead of his ‘Your, My and Mine’ Asia tour fanmeet and concert at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Luwan.

During the press conference, Kim Jaejoong talked about being back in Shanghai as he stated, “It makes me feel great knowing that I held a fanmeet here last year and am holding a concert here this year,” and “I feel like I’m coming to greet my Shanghai fans every year. It’s a city that I have deep affection for.”

Kim Jaejoong added, “I decided to divide the concert into three sections because I wanted to create a space for me to share my stories with my fans, connect with them and introduce the music from my album to them,” and “After spending some time with the fans, I’ll be having a short yet impactful mini concert. I will do my best and work hard.”

Kim Jaejoong released his first solo mini album ‘I’ in January and met with over 20,000 domestic and overseas fans at the Ilsan KINTEX on the 26th and 27th of January and in Bangkok, Thailand on the 17th of February.

▶Here is the Q&A session from Kim Jaejoong’s press conference

-How do you feel about holding a concert in Shanghai, China?
“It makes me feel great knowing that I held a fanmeet here last year and am holding a concert here this year. I feel like I’m coming to greet my Shanghai fans every year. It’s a city that I have deep affection for. I come alone, and I come as a member of JYJ.”

-You held a press conference with the Chinese media before the one with the Korean media; what question made you feel happy?
“Setting aside the questions themselves, the Chinese reporters looked at me with delight. Something about their gaze made me feel great (laughter). It felt great to see them showing their affection for me.”

-We’re curious to know how much you participated in the directing of your current Asia tour concert.
“I held two concerts in Korea on the 26th and 27th of Korea. From the planning stages of the concert, I made a request for the concert to be split into three sections. My upcoming concert here will also have a fanmeet and a concert. Though there was the fear that it would feel low-grade and be difficult to concentrate on, but I wanted to create a space for me to share my stories with my fans, connect with them and introduce the music from my album to them. The upcoming fanmeet and concert can be seen to be fulfilling the same goal. Though it was easy to communicate with my Korean fans, I was very worried about doing the same thing with the overseas fans. But because the Thailand concert turned out better than expected, I think the Shanghai concert will be great as well.”

-Do you have any special events prepared for the China concert?
“It won’t be too different from my Thailand concert. The music that I’ve prepared is the same, but there will be a few changes to the fanmeet part of the concert. Because the audience changes, I will probably do things differently depending on the reactions of the fans. It’s not that I have something special specifically planned, but if I were to pinpoint something special about my Shanghai concert, it would be that I’m in Shanghai and connecting with my fans.”

-As a group, JYJ has created a niche for themselves in the Japanese market. You must sometimes think about expanding into the Chinese market as well.
“China is a country that we can’t give up. All of us believe that China is a country we need to visit, no matter how little time we have.”

-The feeling of standing on stage with the other members and standing on stage alone must be very different.
“I don’t think there’s anything good about being alone, because you feel lonely. (laughter) When Junsu was on his world tour and had just returned to Korea after his South America tour, he looked at me and said, ‘I thought I was going to die from loneliness.’ I thought being on a tour alone would be a new and great experience, but I realized that the loneliness you feel is inevitable.

For example, when we take on something new like acting in dramas or musicals, we take on that challenge thinking about what we can do to succeed and do well because all of us are working solo. But when it comes to musical activities and albums, you end up spending a lot of time alone when you’re used to being with your members. I couldn’t get used to that.”

-What is the biggest difference between a performance by JYJ and one by Kim Jaejoong?
“When the three of us are performing together, we move around a lot to give fans an equal opportunity to see all of our faces from a close distance. When I’m alone, I don’t move around as much. What’s difficult is that I have to keep singing by myself. Junsu complains that all the songs I write are in a high range, and I find myself agreeing with him and finding it difficult when I have to sing one of my own compositions by myself (laughter).”

-If you were to pinpoint a difference between JYJ fans and Kim Jaejoong fans, what would it be?
“There’s one thing that’s for sure. Kim Jaejoong fans are stronger, no matter what part of the world they come from. My fans seem to function at a level above everyone else, saying things like ‘I love you’ instead of ‘I like you’, and ‘You drive me crazy’ instead of ‘I love you’. It’s something I’ve been feeling for a while. (laughter) For example, even if ten people are calling out Yoochun and Junsu’s names, they are drowned out by two of my fans calling out my name. Kim Jaejoong fans are all full of passion.”

-Was there a moment in your Asia tour that the fans moved you deeply?
“When I see how much they’ve changed from the past, I’m moved deeply by the heart-warming scene. In my concert, there’s a segment where they get to communicate with me. Before, fans would get jealous when I was playing games with other fans, but they’ve changed. They play along and encourage everyone involved. It made me feel at ease and it felt like one big family.”

-During one of your events for the fans, you cooked rabokki (spicy rice cakes with ramen noodles).
“I made rabokki during my Korean concert, but I failed during my Thailand concert. It tastes great if it’s a little sweet so I like to put sugar in it, but the staff had already seasoned it backstage because they were worried that the audience wouldn’t like it. I didn’t know that so I ruined the food in Thailand. But I want to succeed this time and feed the fans some good food.”

-Is rabokki the dish you’re most confident about?
“I’m really good at cooking. I’ll get married one day, and all she (my future wife) needs to do is bring herself to me. Because both my parents worked ever since I was young, I cooked a lot when I was home alone. I’m good at any housekeeping chores and I’m a great cook. When I was young, my dream was to become a chef. (laughter)”

-Do you ever feel that you’re in a competition with Junsu, who has also released a solo album and held a solo concert? What was the advice the other members gave you?
“The thought that I needed to beat Junsu never crossed my mind. The concert I’m holding is so different from the one Junsu held. Now that I’ve released a solo album and started my tour, I’m sure I’ll be able to feel the things Junsu felt during his world tour. Because my concert is divided into a mini concert and a fanmeet that helps me communicate and connect with fans, I feel more like I’m traveling to be loved rather than feeling tired out by everything.”

-This year marks the tenth year since your debut. I’m sure it’s very meaningful to be holding your first solo tour concert while looking back on the past ten years of your life.
“It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long since I made my debut. (laughter) When I look back, I can see that so much has happened and that I’ve accomplished so much in the past ten years. When I’m told, ‘It’s already been 10 years since your debut’, I think ‘Wow. It’s been that long already’ and then I forget about it almost immediately. What scares JYJ the most is time. We’re still in our early and mid-twenties. We have so much that we want to do and accomplish. We have to be able to satisfy and entertain the masses, even when time has passed and a new generation emerges. As the masses are aging with the passing time, there’s nothing we can do but beat time. (laughter) I think our biggest goal is to work so hard that time becomes powerless in front of us and stay young, energetic and upbeat.”

-What do you want to do, accomplish or fulfill?
“When we’re participating in overseas promotions, fans always ask us if we have any plans to be active in their home countries for a long period of time. We would like to stay in different countries and be active there for a long time. Because the restrictions on our Japanese activities were recently lifted, I’d like for us to be more active there. Not only that, but I’d like to take on new challenges in other fields in Korea and make a place for myself. There’s so much that I want to do that I’m thinking that time is going to be an issue. (laughter)”

-What was your happiest or saddest moment in the past 10 years?
“There were so many moments when I was happy. (laughter) What comes to mind first is that I can’t live without my members. The moment I realized just how precious my members are to me was my happiest moment. For the past two years, we’ve been focusing on our individual activities so it was hard for us to meet unless we had official activities together as JYJ. Because we had to take on long-term projects that demanded a lot of attention, we couldn’t see each other for a while. When we did meet, there was a moment of awkwardness. We couldn’t meet often because we were pursuing our own individual goals, but we realized just how thirsty we were for each other’s presence. Before, Yoochun didn’t pick up his phone often and Junsu never used to be the first to call, but nowadays, we’re too busy calling each other. That’s how happy I felt when we all realized just how precious we are to each other. The hardest times were when I would forget that happiness.”

Are you happy with what you’ve achieved with your first album?
“I’m very happy about what I’ve achieved. I could only put five songs into my album because it was a mini album and I wasn’t entirely happy because of the feeling that I wasn’t able to convey everything that I wanted to in those five songs. But I’m happy because the album was well-balanced, I got to try out a new genre and I was able to inject a variety of vocal colors into those five songs.”

-If you decide to release another solo album, would you take another stab at the rock genre? Or would you try out a new genre?
“I want to keep singing rock songs, even if I release a full-length album. There are such a wide variety of colors in rock music that I want to try the genre again. If I get the opportunity, I’d like to work with indie bands. It’s a personal thought of mine, but I’d like to work with Hyde of the famous Japanese group L’arc-En-Ciel if I ever got the chance.”

-Is there a senior in the music industry you’d like to emulate?
“I would like to learn from Lee Seung Hwan and his concerts. I heard that he doesn’t decide upon a set duration for his concerts. The longest his concerts have ever gone is five hours, and I heard that the audience never felt bored in all that time. I really like that. As long as the audience is satisfied, I could use up all the energy in my body. Lee Seung Hwan is a person who performs for his fans, and I want to be an artiste like him.”

-What kind of senior do you want to be for your juniors?
“I think the definition of being cool when you’re young is different from that when you’re older. I’d like to keep hearing that I’m cool and age gracefully. I’d also like to avoid being a senior of the past who’s referred to as ‘That senior used to be like this..” or “That senior was okay in the past..” For that, there’s nothing I can do but work hard. (laughter)”

-What are your plans for your Shanghai concert?
“I plan to spend some time with the fans, and then have a short yet impactful mini concert. I will do my best and work hard.”

[Trans] 130308 Star Column: Behind-The-Scene Story of JYJ Kim Jaejoong’s Asia Tour

[Trans] 130308 Star Column: Behind-The-Scene Story of JYJ Kim Jaejoong’s Asia Tour

t has been four years since ‘Thanksgiving Live In Dome’ that was held on the June of 2010, and once again, JYJ will be having their concert at the Dome again. Just the thought that they will be able to meet the long-awaited fans, exciting atmosphere starts to fill up the air. For the fans who waited them for four years, JYJ will be presenting their best stage and will do it with their might.

Additionally, Kim Jaejoong has started his Asia tour ‘Your, My and Mine In Thailand’ on the 17th of February in Bangkok, and is currently planning his tour at Shanghai, Hongkong and Nanjing etc. Now through NAVER Star Column, let’s reveal the many facets of Kim Jaejoong!

– Editor

The person I like, no matter who it is, they would have have own scent and story. Though it is the first time that we met, as long as we are able to talk with an open heart, we would become close immediately. Therefore, I like meeting new friends, making new relationships; I have also never stay at a distance from a person due to first impression, or judge one’s character from his cover.

My members would tell me, “No matter where Hyung goes, your popularity is the best. We are so envious.” Since the beginning, I was responsible for the strong image in the group, thus as compared to domestically, I received more love overseas. In the past, there were many who were prejudiced against me. Even though it might not be that much, it was what I used to feel. As I continued to have activities overseas, what I felt the most are that about people met with me with no prejudice.

Those who met me in a different culture and language, showed their liking towards me as Kim Jaejoong. Under such situation, showing off myself and saying out my own story, it made me felt comfortable. Though there is a language barrier, we interact with our true hearts, resulting an enjoyable friendship. At the same time, to be able to share such sentiments with those who happily love our music, it made me value and like their culture.

[ A photo in the plane before flying off for the tour~! ]

“You already have so many fans, don’t you feel nothing special already?” I would hear this at times during interview, and I would answer it with no doubt, “Nothing like this!”

Fans might be thinking doubtfully: My feelings? My handwritten letter? My gifts? My heart? Will it be relayed to the artiste? Definitely they would think that it is difficult to relay their feelings out. But those are really able to be relayed to artiste!

As everyone took time to prepare with their earnest heart, I will also thus try my best to listen to what fans have to say. When I am exhausted and felt terrible while thinking of forsaking everything, (fans) will be like a scary superpower, a power that cannot be seen that made me stood up once again. That is fans’ power!

Due to security issues during the tour, I would sometimes need to leave the airport or concert venue in a hurry, but people who have gathered to support and welcome me, those thoughts would made me feel warm and close (to fans) no matter when.

[ During rehearsal and behind the stage of Asia Tour ]

Releasing a solo album under the name Kim Jaejoong, preparing the rock genre that I have likened when I was young, though all these are new to me, I felt excited and happy about it. Besides, this is not about what was casted onto me, but the real me. It is an album about everything that I wanted to say. How handsome is this! Thus the album was titled, ‘I’.

[ Day of photo shooting of promotional photos for album ]

During the preparation of the concert, I heard about the news of the Asia Tour and it gave me a lot of strength and inspired me, thus my spirit was lifted! The Asia fan meeting last year as an actor also gave me a lot of strength.

This time, I want to try a different kind of concert. There were many ideas and anticipation was plentiful. Chatting with fans, playing games with fans, I wish to bring the cohesive feel to the fans, be it 5000 or 10000 fans, in a space. Thought it is a showcase-like mini concert, I will also sing the songs that I like, other than the songs in the album. Because of such, the concert was titled, ‘Your, My and Mine’.

[ Discussing with staff during Asia Tour ]

I had my first concert on my birthday and it was an agitating first stage. Ah! I am such a lucky person! There were so many fans who smiled for me, applauded for me and happily focused on my stage. It was really one of my best birthday ever! I really really smiled a lot (That day was also the day I have smiled the most.), I smiled to the extent thinking to myself, “Why am I like this?”

Due to the lighting on stage, I was not able to see the audience clearly. But due to a guessing game with fans, many fans in the seats were therefore shone very clearly. It was all within my view. The happy looks of everyone, the happy eyes, and those thoughts of theirs were all relayed to me. It made me felt so blessed that I was going to tear.

During the singing of ‘I’ll Protect You’ at the mini concert segment, I held my microphone towards the audience and fans sang to me, “I wish to protect you~ even your mistakes~ your bad habits too~ When it’s tough, I will make you smile~ Though it will be tough~ I will still say to you that I love you~”, after that the music started and I once again sang back to them, “I love you~ no matter who, I am the one by your side now, isn’t it~ I will grab your hand isn’t it~”… During that moment, I really felt blessed, really grateful. Fans are so adorable.

[ The first stop of Asia Tour that was in Korea, falls on my birthday… I was really grateful to be spending it with my fans. ]

So, the tour begins. The first stop is at Thailand. It has been around three years that our activities were blocked in Japan, therefore no matter be it JYJ or solo activity, Thailand will be the first stop in Asia. To us, Thailand was a meaningful country. There were many JYJ fans in Thailand and would always welcome us passionately. Therefore it is no doubt it became the starting stop of the tour. Additionally, I really love elephants and to be in Thailand with cute elephants, fans would give me a variety of gifts with elephant-motifs.

[ I made food for the fans during the concert in Thailand. It should be tastier ^^ ]

Japanese fans were also the ones that I am thankful and grateful for. After I acted in the drama ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’, there wasn’t any much opportunities to meet with Japanese fans. But they remained the same and no matter I was acting in ‘Protect The Boss’, ‘Dr Jin’ or ‘Jackal Is Coming’, they would give their tremendous support directly in Korea.

Same goes for ‘JYJ Membership Week’ where it broke the record for the highest number of foreigners entering Korea. I was very thankful. If Korea is the main stage for activities, Japan will be alike to being the hometown, and I have many Japanese friends in Japan too, thus it’s a place I received a lot of news.

[ Dr Jin Fanmeeting ]

China is also a place I went frequently. I went to Shanghai, Nanjing, Hongkong etc during JYJ concert and drama fanmeeting. Though all cities are in China, the languages and culture were different in different cities. But the passionate support was the same in each city. After learning Japanese language, I recently became interested in Chinese language but it doesn’t seems to be easy. I wish to be able to say more things to fans to close up the distance!

[ During the Asia Tour ]

There is actually a difficulty during Asia Tour and that is when I am in an Asian country, there were too people who likes me that I was not able to go outside, thus I will always be in the hotel. Though I was able to swim, sleep, download movies to watch, and also read comic books but it is still boring. At times like these, I would start to do what I don’t usually do.. taking selcas and show my spirit of self-entertainment.

[ Selca game during Thailand concert ^^ ]

During the Asia tour, if there is something which I wish to say to the fans, I would like to say, “I have already start to miss you all. I am grateful as always and I will make my promise to bring a handsome concert for you all.”

[ Affirmative photo of celebrating birthday with the fans! Really thank you~ ]

[TRANS] 130306 The Cast Of ‘Moonlight Prince’ Say Goodbye With Their Last Episode… Express Their Sorrow With Humor

[TRANS] 130306 The Cast Of ‘Moonlight Prince’ Say Goodbye With Their Last Episode… Express Their Sorrow With Humor

The cast of ‘Moonlight Prince’ put aside their sorrow and ended their last filming schedule with humor.

The last filming schedule of KBS 2TV’s ‘Moonlight Prince’ took place on the 6th at the KBS building in Yeoido.

The day’s episode was centered around the relationship playbook for single women ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man’ (written by Steven Harvey) and 2AM’s Jin Woon and Changmin, and Kim Tae Woo appeared as the final guests of the show.

The MCs of ‘Moonlight Prince’ (Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Max Changmin, Brave Brothers, Jung Jae Hyung) began the episode with an introduction of the guest stars, who started off by talking about their recent activities and whereabouts.

The MCs set aside their disappointed sorrow of having their show canceled and instead focused on doing their best till the very end. Instead of lingering on the fact that it was the last episode, the guests also actively participated in the ‘book talk’ format of the program.

MCs Kang Ho Dong and Tak Jae Hoon touched upon their disappointment of having the show cancelled while talking with the guest stars.

Kang Ho Dong said, “‘Moonlight Prince’ is on the rise these days. We’re seeing an upwards trend.” This referred to the fact that the show recorded viewer ratings of 4.8% (Nielsen Korea), which was a 1.7% increase from the previous episode.

Tak Jae Hoon packaged his sorrow in humor as he stated, “You and I both were mentally out of it when we heard the news.”

Brave Brothers joked and said, “My image has gotten much better after I started appearing on the show, but now when you search my name, ’12 crimes’ comes up as a related search topic.”

In response to the MCs’ comments about the end of the show, the guest stars said, “We’ve enjoyed watching the show,” and the MCs showed their gratitude for the guests for watching the program.

Ahead of the last filming schedule of ‘Moonlight Prince’, PD Lee Yae Ji stated, “I received an unexpected and sudden notice last week that the show was cancelled. I told the MCs of the cancellation after I heard the news,” and “We’ll return with a better program.”

PD Lee and Kang Ho Dong will be returning with a new program after the end of ‘Moonlight Prince’. Regarding this, the PD seemed hesitant to share any information as she stated, “We haven’t yet decided upon a concept for the new program.”

Meanwhile, ‘Moonlight Prince’ first began airing on the 22nd of January. It will stop airing after its eighth episode on the 12th of March due to low viewer ratings.

‘Moonlight Prince’ is a ‘book talk’ variety show that chooses a book every week to act as a theme for the show’s talk segment. The MCs are Kang Ho Dong, Tak Jae Hoon, Max Changmin, Brave Brothers and Jung Jae Hyung.

[Trans] 130306 Max Changmin Confesses, “The Biggest Turn Off Is A Woman Who Goes Off The Grid To Spite Me”

[Trans] 130306 Max Changmin Confesses, “The Biggest Turn Off Is A Woman Who Goes Off The Grid To Spite Me”

TVXQ’s Max Changmin revealed what type of girl he dislikes most.

On the episode of KBS2′s ‘Moonlight Prince’ that aired on the 5th, the guests and MCs talked about the type of women who are the biggest turn offs. Max Changmin chose ‘Women who go off the grid out of spite’ and revealed that he once broke up with his former girlfriend because of this.

Max Changmin stated, “When you date someone, there are times when you fight because both sides have done something wrong. I will apologize and say ‘I was wrong’ to mollify her, but there was one who said, ‘I don’t know, whatever, I don’t want to hear it’ in response and ignored my calls and went off the grid. I hate that.”

Kang Ho Dong shared his sentiments as he stated, “Going off the grid when you’re in a relationship should be a crime. Not being able to reach her by phone drove me crazy. And women know exactly what effect it has on men. They refuse your calls, whether their phone is on or off.”

After hearing Kang Ho Dong and Max Changmin’s conversation, Kim Wan Seon argued that going off the grid was a part of the tug-of-war in love as she stated, “But isn’t the art of tug-of-war in a relationship important? You have to be good at it to be loved.”

But the men on set refuted this claim as they said, “We’ve seen so many couples break up early on in their relationships because of it,” and Max Changmin confessed, “I’ve broken up with someone once because she went off the grid.”

Meanwhile, the guest stars of the episode were Lee Young Ja, Kim Wan Seon, Kim Sook and Kwon Jin Young and the four stars showed off their wit and charm in the latest episode of ‘Moonlight Prince’.
