[Info] Kim Jaejoong’s “I’ll Protect You” Ranks #1 on Hanteo Chart

The hit single “I’ll Protect You” sung by JYJ‘s Kim Jaejoong for his concluded drama series ‘Protect The Boss‘ has ranked #1 on the Hanteo Chart as of September 7th.

‘Protect The Boss’ aired from August to September of 2011, and Jaejoong featured in the series as character Cha Moo Won. The track “I’ll Protect You” which Jaejoong personally penned the lyrics for was included in the drama’s OST released on September 8th of last year.

The drama was also released in Japan this past July, earning an explosive response from the local fans, and Jaejoong’s ‘Protect The Boss’ special-making DVD scheduled to be released in November climbed to the #1 spot of charts on HMV, Amazon, and Rakuten within a single day after it was up for presale.

Jaejoong definitely had a strong effect on these results, living up to his title as one of the biggest Hallyu stars today.

[News] 120906 JYJ’s Jun Su says, “My Ideal Type Is A Feminine Woman”

[News] 120906 JYJ’s Jun Su says, “My Ideal Type Is A Feminine Woman”

JYJ’s Jun Su recently talked about his ideal type.

On September 5 at 2:00 p.m., Jun Su gave an interview to Korean reporters at Camino Real Hotel in Mexico City before holding a concert in Mexico.

After releasing his first solo album, Tarantallegra, in May, Jun Su had concerts in Seoul, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, New York, and LA, meeting over 40,000 fans. On September 6 at 8:00 p.m., Jun Su will hold a concert at the Auditorio BlackBerry in Mexico City. He’s the first Korean solo singer who holds a concert in Mexico city.

Jun Su also talked about his ideal type.

Jun Su said, “I want to have a girlfriend. I don’t have a specific ideal type, but I like a girl who is polite and feminine. I’ve dated a few times, but I don’t have a girlfriend now. I think I will be kicked out even if I have a girlfriend now, though,” insinuating that he’s currently having busy days.

Regarding the fact that he’s the first Korean solo singer holding a concert in Mexico, Jun Su said, “This is my first visit to Mexico, and I’m very happy to be able to hold a concert here. More than 3,000 fans will come to my concert in spite of the fact that this is my first concert in Mexico. I’m so thrilled.”

Jun Su also said, “When I got this opportunity to hold a concert in Mexico, I thought K-pop had really spread all over the world. I’ll try my utmost to create the best concert for my fans in Mexico.”

Jun Su will also hold concerts in Brazil, Chile, and some European countries.

[News] 120904 Xia Junsu – Hollywood Palladium – September 2, 2012

[News] 120904 Xia Junsu – Hollywood Palladium – September 2, 2012

09-02-2012

At 25-years-old, “Xia” Kim Junsu has seen more than his share of drama. He ascended to pop royalty in the wildly successful five-member boy band TVXQ (aka DBSK). Following the success of their iconic single “Mirotic” in 2009, he and two other members filed a lawsuit against their label, citing unfair profits margins and an unreasonably long 13-year contract.

They won. Sort of.

In response, the label filed an injunction against the rebellious three; though it was dismissed last year, it led to a hiatus of the legendary K-pop act. Some of the new members formed a new boy band, JYJ, which Kim is still in, despite having his solo gig on the side.

What sets Xia apart from other soloists is that he’s had to label hop (he’s now with C-JeS) so he can get closer to doing whatever he wants; Korean record labels are run like the old Hollywood studio system, and rarely do any stars get autonomy.

Like pop diva Robyn, Kim’s had to snuff out his own bubblegum career in order to emerge as an artist with some semblance of control over his own vision. There’s a reason most proteges don’t strike out on their own: Xia’s own journey has, up until recently, been plagued with constant label changes and suspensions.

In the past three years Kim has played the titular character of Mozart!, released his first solo album Tarantallegra, and has an international tour that recently went through Asia, Europe, South America and is now finishing in the U.S.

While Kim relied heavily on a translator throughout the night, it did not preclude him from interacting happily and extensively. In fact, there were times when Kim just looked content to be musing out loud to a throng of doe-eyed girls.

His new English single “Uncommitted,” produced by Bruce “Automatic” Vanderveer, sounds like it could have been for JT. After performing it live for the first time, Kim remarked that it was really hard to be so intimate with the ladies playing his girlfriends in the video, who had to coach and relax him on set. “Really!” he chirped to the crowd, in English.

Like Michael Jackson, to whom he is often compared, Kim proved to be a commanding performer, carrying a bit of sexuality, but also naiveté. In his bashful interactions with the crowd you almost couldn’t believe this was the guy whose trademark move is the pantomimed doggy style.

Kim has a peculiar allure. He combines the androgyny of a Japanese shock rocker with the masculine prowess of a R&B mack daddy. As the son of a former Miss Korea, he knows a thing or two about pageantry and possesses a feminine mystique. And it drives girls wild.

It’s a shame that most of the night was marred by poor sound quality. Kim’s set design and production quality was impressive, but couched within a traditional rock venue, the hard, militaristic beats didn’t quite work.

 Tiffanie Lee

What Kim’s solo career has shown is that his creative passions run far, wide and random. He is a disciplined veteran who easily belts out throaty, velvety jams, all while throwing down polished dance moves. But deep down inside, you know he just can’t wait to let loose on his operatic power ballads.Kim absolutely radiated (and wept) during songs like “I Hate Love” and “Leaves.” He’s not just a theatrical performer. He’s a theater geek trapped in a pop star’s body. Babs, Liza, this is your guy.Nevertheless, the standout performance of the night was the album’s titular single “Tarantallegra,” a rumbling hybrid of pop-meets-classical. The song’s catchline is, “What music would you listen to?” His raging international fans can easily answer that.

Personal Bias: I still get this guy confused with Big Bang’s G-Dragon. I know, not all blonde, svelte K-poppers look alike.

The Crowd: Tweens on the verge of meltdown.

[News] 120906 K-Pop’s First Artist to Perform in Mexico, JYJ Junsu, “I Gave up My Drama Casting Role for This Album

[News] 120906 K-Pop’s First Artist to Perform in Mexico, JYJ Junsu, “I Gave up My Drama Casting Role for This Album

Junsu stated, “There is about 500,000 miles that I didn’t use earlier this year for my mileage, but it does not matter. Wherever my fans are, I will go to see them.”

Junsu stated, “There is about 500,000 miles that I didn’t use earlier this year for my mileage, but it does not matter. Wherever my fans are, I will go to see them.”

JYJ member Junsu is the first K-Pop artist to perform in Mexico. Junsu commented, “I worked really hard not to make anything boring or normal.”

Yesterday, Junsu held a press conference in Mexico. Junsu commented, “Although this was my first concert in Mexico, I was shocked to see that all 3,000 seats were sold out. Since I am the first K-Pop musician to perform here, I promise not to let anyone down.”

There had been many problems before being able to release a solo album and hold a world tour. Junsu commented, “In reality, it is hard to show someone’s face on TV unless it’s acting and so I rejected the idea to make a new album at first. I was also casted for a mini drama series, but if both my acting and singing career are on the line, I knew that I would have to choose what I am best at. That is why I gave up my acting role and decided to go on with making this album.”

Junsu’s new album was a major success with over 120,000 albums sold. His Asia tour brought in 40,000 fans as well.

Junsu believed that his success was due to the internet. He commented, “The days where songs would only become popular through TV broadcasts are gone. Now, it become popular through music videos online. The internet allows anyone to advertise their content online.”

Junsu also commented, “Doing musicals helped me change into a more positive person. Certain things I’ve learned from musicals helped me to make this new album as well. If I had not done musicals, I would not have made this great album. Musicals helped me to express myself freely as an artist.”

Junsu was very thankful that he was able to portray his own style and image through this album.

After his concert in Mexico, he will continue on to Brazil and Chile.

[Trans] 120905 Junsu Twitter Update

[Trans] 120905 Junsu Twitter Update

Junsu: Ah, everyone should have heard about the news for Elisabeth OST already right!? ^^ It was delayed due to the solo album. But since it was to be released, rather than releasing it in a rush, I rather present a good quality product to everyone. It was me who was a bit stubborn.. ^^;;

Junsu: Though I know fans are very curious… and also know the effort by EMK… but this is the first musical album and therefore I wish more effort was spent~ I would like to take this chance to apologise to EMK family due to my greed keke

Junsu: Additionally, the reason for actor’s version is due to actual circumstances… Actual circumstances is due to vocal editing like the noise and vocal quality and needed time to enhance it… And also to let you all listen to streaming and thus have to be recorded separately, resulting in the late release.. ㅜ

Junsu: I would like to express my thanks once again to Young Ki hyung and Joo Hyun noona who took out time to record ^^ Using Twitter to express Thanks to. keke
