[TRANS] 120224 JYJ’s Daily-Life Documentary “The Day” Attracts Crowd Of Over 4,000 People To Its Premiere… “Satisfies All Five Senses”

Group JYJ’s (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) daily-life documentary film “The Day”, with its content that satisfies all five senses, together with stage greetings (by the members), attracted crowds and caused the cinemas to be extremely packed during its first day of screening.

On 23 February, “The Day” began showing on 19 of Lotte Cinema’s big-screens, attracting more than 4,000 viewers. “The Day” is a documentary film originally filmed by JYJ for TV broadcasting purposes. It was a collaboration done last year with cable TV channel QTV. However, the broadcast of the completed documentary ended up being cancelled by QTV, and will now finally be screened at Lotte Cinemas. The content this time was produced with the main intent of fanservice, and it has been edited into a 90 minute movie version.

The stage greetings on this day were done at Lotte Cinema at the Hongik University Entrance. From the carpark, to the entrance of the building, to the streets nearby, all these areas were packed with crowds of both local and international fans. In order to manage the entrance and prevent chaotic situations, the entrance of the building had a sign which said “Entry Only Allowed For Ticket-Holders”.

Aside from the locations originally planned for stage greetings this time, the members also made surprise appearances, driving the fans wild. During the stage greetings, the members not only did the basic self-introductions as well as an introduction of the movie. They also gave detailed updates about their lives recently, and answered the fans’ questions during a Q&A session, satisfying the requests of the audience. The fans’ response during the Q&A session of the stage greeting was like that of a fanmeeting.

In particular, aside from the originally notified locations, the members also did surprise stage greetings at the Hongik University Entrance and Shin Rim cinemas. Seeing the members suddenly appear at the end of the movie, fans felt very lucky, and saw it as their “fortune”. Related personnel expressed, “As the fans were very happy with the surprise events prepared, the members were also very happy.”

On that day, Jaejoong posted a question to the audience, “(Although) it is a film from a year ago, it still seems very new to us now. How does everyone know JYJ to be like?”, and interacted with the audience. Meanwhile, Junsu sang a short verse from his musical, while Yoochun caused much laughter when he began to briefly act out an interesting scene from the drama “Rooftop Prince”, which he is currently filming for.

The movie showcases the daily lives of the members up-close, as well as their dreams, friends and families. It also shows places and situations behind-the-scenes, which fans are not able to come into contact with easily. The thing that made the documentary interesting, and more than just a movie that simply recorded this and that, was the members’ commentary.

Rather than merely having video images, the appearance of the members as they gave their commentary can be seen in a little screen on the video, giving rise to a whole new film. Thus, even fans who have the ordinary DVDs can also see new things.

“The Day” does not show special sides of JYJ. Rather, it showcases the ordinary sides of the members in their daily lives, such as holding birthday parties, returning to their homes to spend festivals with their families, playing ping pong with friends, and other small things such as going to restaurants which they like. However, playing with friends like this, going for barbecues and spending festivals with family are all considered “a special day” for the members. Although others can do all this normally, but it makes the audience feel sorry for the members who only now, are able to happily spend time and communicate with the people around them.

In the movie, various corners of the members’ homes were revealed, as well as the foods they liked, stories about their parents as well as their thoughts about each other, etc. For examples, there were stories about how Kim Junsu was a Janggu (“Long Drum”) whiz as a child, about how Jaejoong had three birthday parties when he was born, as well as the story of Yoochun, who unlike his brother who is more careful, doesn’t bother with his appearance as well as other stories, and there were interesting episodes hidden throughout the movie.

In an interesting interlude, in the movie there were a lot of scenes where the members were eating various special foods, and watching the members eat all kinds of delicacies made our mouths water. But the members who were watching the video and giving the commentary said that the food wasn’t that good, shattering the concept of the food being delicious.

A woman in her 30s who just finished watching the movie today said, “Although I’m a fan, I can still understand more of a hidden side to the members through this movie, so I like it a lot. The conversational banter among the three members who were commenting, was really interesting and made me laugh out loud. Also, there were some moments where I couldn’t help but feel pained when looking at them. Watching the record of a year in the members’ lives, it was a satisfying 90 minutes for our eyes and ears.”

[News] JYJ Junsu To Star In Movie “Jackal Comes” With Song Jihyo?

[News] JYJ Junsu To Star In Movie “Jackal Comes” With Song Jihyo?

There is increasing interest in the entertainment industry to see if Song Jihyo, who is currently dating the CEO of her management company, will be starring in a movie with label-mate JYJ’s Kim Junsu.

On 23 February, according to the movie industry, Song Jihyo has been recently confirmed to star in the move “Jackal Comes” and they are in the midst of arranging her schedule. It has been 4 years since Song Jihyo starred as a lead in a movie, the last being “Frozen Flower” in 2008.

“Jackal Comes” is a new movie by director Pe Hyun Joon who directed “Don’t believe your girlfriend” and “Boys don’t cry”. The movie depicts the commotion that occurs when the police is dispatched after a mentally unstable female killer kidnaps a popular singer and attempts to murder him.

JYJ member Junsu is up for strong consideration to play the role that Song Jihyo kidnaps. Although Junsu has never acted in a movie, he is packing in acting experience through musicals like “Mozart!” and “Elisabeth”. He also matches the movie role of being a popular singer.

However, Junsu’s lack of experience in movies might be a point that hampers his participation. Production companies and sponsors are worried over Junsu’s lack of experience in acting on the big screen. With regards to this, the management company for the both of them had few words to say, “Although (Junsu’s appearance is) under consideration, nothing has been decided yet.”

Casting for “Jackal Comes” is expected to be completed soon and filming will begin from end of March at the earliest.

Playing the role of crown prince Lee Gak in the new SBS drama “Rooftop Prince” (Director: Shin Yoon Seob, Script: Lee Hui Myung), an image of him with his current look, was revealed on 21 February by SBS, and it was totally different from his clean-cut appearance, grabbing the attention of everyone.

“Gaon Chart K-Pop Award & Album Sales Close In On The 240,000 Mark by CTVXQ Staff_Mug_Ping

Group TVXQ has emerged as #1 in album sales for the first quarter of 2011.

The awards ceremony of the “1st Gaon Charts K-Pop Awards”, hosted by Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation and Joo Young Hoon, was held at the Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul, in the afternoon of February 22.

At the awards ceremony on this day, the awards were divided into the “monthly digital sales” category and the “quarterly album sales” category. In the album category for the “Singer of the Year” award for the first quarter of the past year, TVXQ’s “Why” album won the accolades. TVXQ’s “Why” has created a record of having sold approximately 235,669 copies.

Music Video of TVXQ’s New Single Has Been Completed and Partially Revealed

Music Video of TVXQ’s New Single Has Been Completed and Partially Revealed

By CTVXQ Staff_IRENE_KIDMAN

The music video of Tohoshinki’s new single “Still” (to be released on Wednesday, March 14th) has been completed and partially revealed. The concept of this music video is to express “the feeling towards a person already gone”, ” sorrowfulness”, “loneliness & fidgetiness”. In the beginning of the video, the duo carried out few acts expressing sadness, which became precious clips showing Yunho and Changmin’s charismas as actors.

The music video was filmed for one whole day in a studio located in Tokyo city at the end of January, in between their concert tour lives. Although an idea of location shooting was also proposed originally, there were concerns about the possibilities of bringing chaos to the shooting site. Therefore, the filming team eventually decided to build the stage sets, including a coffee shop, in the studio.

In a scene of walking on the street, the treadmills were used for shooting. By changing the directions of the treadmills for several times, it attempted to express an even stronger feeling of loneliness on a noisy street.

The comments from the members themselves are as follows.

” It conveys the feeling of loneliness by the scene in which there we are sitting alone in the coffee shop with a glass window facing the street that lots of people are walking on, or the scene that we are standing alone but there are many people walking around us. ” (Changmin)

” The highlight is the singing scene with sorrowful facial expressions while looking into the camera. I think it would be quite touching, as we also feel kind of embarrassed when we watch it ourselves.(laugh) ” (Yunho)

120222 Kim Jaejoong Joins Time Slip Dr. Jin

Kim Jaejoong Joins Time Slip Dr. Jin

by | February 21, 2012

Kim Jaejoong (Protect the Boss) has been cast in the upcoming time-travel-medical-historical drama Time Slip Dr. Jin starring Song Seung-heon, in what will be the singer-actor’s first sageuk role to date. The manga adaptation features a Doogie-esque hero who travels back in time 150 years, where he learns that maybe there’s more to being a doctor than a massive IQ. Because apparently that’s not something you can learn after 1860. But… how will we know he’s a TV doctor if he’s not wearing the shiny white labcoat and model-strutting down the hall with two rows of interns at his sides?

Jaejoong will be playing Kim Kyung-tak, the descendant to a long line of master swordsmen, and the best warrior of his generation. He’s competitive and prideful, but he also has a softer, innocent side: his character has a single-minded devotion to his first love. Sigh, don’t they all? He’ll be going head-to-head with the hero Dr. Jin, though I’m wondering how literal that could be. Will the scalpel-wielder be picking up a sword and vice versa? Or are they just going to be fighting over a girl?

With all the time travel in dramaland these days, it’s a wonder we’re not going to end up with a prince on a proposal mission, a high school student as a doctor, and a neurosurgeon living on a rooftop. Fourth dimension’s a tricky thing, boys. Don’t get stuck in each other’s wormholes. Oh. Ew. I just grossed myself out.

Time Slip Dr. Jin is currently being shopped at cable networks, with reports that it’ll find a home at Channel A.

120222 Song Seung-heon Becomes Time-Traveling Dr. Jin

Song Seung-heon Becomes Time-Traveling Dr. Jin

by | February 20, 2012

Looks like Song Seung-heon is heading to cable with all the other big stars, with the upcoming — get this — fantasy-medical-fusion-sageuk, time-traveling, manga-adapted series titled Time Slip Dr. Jin. Phew, that’s a mouthful.

Time Slip Dr. Jin follows an accomplished doctor, Jin Hyuk, who travels back 150 years to the later Joseon era. He comes from a long line of doctors and is a genius himself, with the distinction of being the youngest ever to be admitted to medical school, the youngest to graduate at the top of his class, and the youngest neuroseurgeon. Ah, so Song Seung-heon’s getting his Brain after all.

Because of his own brilliance, however, Dr. Jin is unable to tolerate mistakes in others, and therefore possesses a cold, severe personality. So, not Dr. Funpants then. Basically he’s Doogie, but with the bedside manner of House.

But! Dr. Jin suffers from love’s wounds, and through a mysterious power, finds himself transported from 2012 to 1860. Once a doctor, always a doctor, and he begins treating people in that time period, but he’s hampered by the rudimentary medical advancements of that era, and has to fashion medical implements and make medicines himself. In the process, he becomes “a genuine doctor.” In other words, he grows a heart to match that brain.

The premise is an adaptation of a Japanese manga that was turned into a drama in 2009 titled JIN. The Japanese version appears to have won a number of accolades, which never hurts. But I’m expecting the Korean version to tweak enough things to make the drama its own thing, and it sure has enough influences to draw upon from K-dramaland already: It’s like Faith meets Brain meets Operation Proposal meets Jejoongwon.

By some accounts, Time Slip Dr. Jin will air on new general-programming cable station Channel A (home of Color of Woman and Bachelor’s Vegetable Store). However, a few stories are treading more cautiously, saying that the production is still considering going with a broadcast station.

120220 Editors Note: Kim Jaejoong To Assume New Drama Role As Kim Kyung-Tak

Kim Jaejoong, JYJ member and co-star/heart-throb of “Protect The Boss”, an award-winning drama series that had us laughing on the edge of our seats, is now embarking on a new role in the drama “Time Slip Dr. Jin”–an adaptation of a manga series. Portraying Kim Kyung-tak, a sword wielding, swashbuckling warrior from a prestigious line of fighters, Jaejoong goes head-to-toe with Dr Jin, portrayed by Song Seung -heon to protect his lady fair.
It will be interesting to see the ins and outs of this adventurous time travel epic.
With everyone holding their breath as to what drama role would be next for the now famous Mr. Mu-Won, I would say that this time travel saga rumored to be hosted by Channel A is a fitting choice.

Of course, with several time-travel dramas ready to take us into the age of enlightenment, including Park Yoochun’s comedic drama “Rooftop Prince’, I dare say that there is something entertaining in progress for us all.

Yunho Shouting At Fans…Turns Out It Was “For The Safety Of The Fans”

After a video of TVXQ at the Thailand airport was revealed, it has become a hot issue.

Recently, videos and photos were posted on an online community with the title “Yunho shouting at fans”. This post was chronicling the airport appearance of TVXQ who were leaving Thailand after ending their schedule in a visit to Thailand on February 9th for a CF shooting.

Although it was a situation where the time for TVXQ to board the plane was running tight, there was an overwhelming number of fans who had gathered, making it difficult to even move forward for a single step. It was a situation which even the bodyguards could not control, so U-Know Yunho eventually took the lead personally to resolve the problem.

U-Know Yunho took off the sunglasses he was wearing and shouted “Excuse me” in the direction of the fans. Although at first glance it seemed like he was angry, it was the best solution for the safety of the fans and in order to be able to board the plane.

In particular, according to fan accounts depicting that situation, U-Know Yunho personally helped fans up after they had fallen down. It was known that even in an urgent situation, he was looking out for the safety of the fans.

Netizens who had seen the videos showed off a variety of responses, “The angry look of him saying “Excuse me” was funny yet cool” and “In that situation, it was very cool of him to catch hold of the hands of the fans who had fallen down” etc.

Meanwhile, TVXQ will be releasing a new single album “STILL” in Japan on March 14th.

[TRANS] 120217 Xiah Junsu’s Charm… 99% Of The Audience Of The Musical “Elisabeth” Are Females

[TRANS] 120217 Xiah Junsu’s Charm… 99% Of The Audience Of The Musical “Elisabeth” Are Females Feb 20, 2012

Written by jugglingtheclouds

“Due to an insufficient number of female washrooms, some washrooms intended for use by males have also been converted to female washrooms.”
As each of the musical performances that Kim Junsu performs in attracts a large number of female audiences, even the washrooms in the performance venue have to be changed.

During the intermission of the performance of the musical “Elisabeth” on 15 February, during which Kim Junsu played the role of “Death (Tod)” , the number of female audiences in the washrooms at the Blue Square Musical Hall in Seoul spiked. On this day, (the management) of the theatre opened the male washrooms on the basement floor for use by female audiences. The caretaker turned away male guests who were trying to use that washroom by saying, “It’s only because Kim Junsu is performing today, please understand.”

Since their opening in November 2011, although the theatre has realised that there is a large influx of female guests when local musicals are being performed, and has since increased the number of female washrooms, it is still insufficient on days when Kim Junsu performs. The capacity of the female washrooms in the theatre are already the highest in Korea, with an average of 1 female washroom cubicle for every 25.9 seats. The Charlotte Theatre in Jamshil (only) has one female cubicle for every 33.5 seats.

Such “situations” arise because the tickets for shows in which Kim Junsu performs in are all sold out, and a majority of the audiences are female. Interpark, which provides the online ticketing service, expressed that over 99% of the buyers of tickets for Kim Junsu’s performances of “Elisabeth” are female purchasers. Although female purchasers may bring males along to watch the performance, but this is unseen in the history of Korea’s musical theatres.

The 20 shows of “Elisabeth” in which Kim Junsu will be appearing, with a total of 31,960 tickets, all sold out within 10 minutes. The tickets for his shows are also the only ones which are being resold by ticket scalpers. According to reports, prices in Japan have been marked up from the original 150,000 won to 100,000 yen (approximately 1,440,000 won). The theatre rents out approximately 100 opera glasses (binoculars used for watching performances or shows), but there are plans to purchase more in preparation for Kim Junsu’s performances.

[TRANS] 120220 JYJ Movie, Surpasses “Crime” To Rank 1st In Presales…Seats In 19 Cinemas Sold Out, “Expected To Blow Up A Storm”

Group JYJ’s daily-life documentary “The Day” is will be hitting the theatres.

According to statistics from the Film Council’s real-time cinema ticket sales figures on the afternoon of 20 February, JYJ’s “The Day” took 1st place with a whopping 42.8%, while “Nameless Gangster (The War Against Crime)” ranked 2nd with 11.5% of the total sales. (JYJ) took 1st place with a large margin of almost 4 times.

Furthermore, once the ticket sales opened, more than 110,000 users logged into the site at the same time, causing the server to crash. JYJ’s management company C-Jes Entertainment expressed, “Seats for “The Day” in all 19 Lotte cinemas have been sold out.”

Representatives of Lotte Cinema commented, “At 1pm, when the reservations for tickets of shows during which JYJ would make appearances were put on sale, 110,000 users were on the site at the same time, causing the server to crash temporarily. And the sales for all 19 cinemas which opened at 4pm also sold out within an hour. In particular, (tickets for) the Busan cinema sold out in a record time of 5 minutes.”

“The Avenuel shop near Lotte Hotel was crowded since morning with Japanese tourists who were there to purchase tickets. Usually, even contents related to singers also only sell about 30%, and the fact that (“The Day”) was able to receive an explosive reaction of selling out so quickly left even the management surprised. They are true Hallyu stars.”

JYJ’s representatives expressed, “As it was produced with the intention of fanservice, we have yet to decide how long it will be running in cinemas. However, as we have been receiving many calls from the fans who have not been able to purchase tickets, we, together with Lotte Cinema, are currently considering increasing the number of screenings.”

“‘The Day’ is a 90 minute production made with the intention of fanservice, for the fans for Valentine’s Day. It records the daily lives of the 3 members of JYJ, as well as their dreams, friendship, happiness and true stories.”
