[News] 120611 JYJ’s Jun Su sells over 0.12 million copies of his solo album and tops the Gaon Chart

JYJ’s Jun Su has sold over 0.12 million copies of his first solo album and topped the Gaon Chart.

On June 11, a spokesperson for Jun Su reported, “The total number of copies of Xia’s Tarantallegra sold exceeded 120,000 last week. It was the largest number for a solo album according to the Gaon Chart.”

A spokesperson for Gaon Chart says, “It was the largest number of copies sold for a solo album. Xia hasn’t appeared on TV much but many people, including Xia’s existing fans, have asked for the album as it’s a high-quality album that includes various different genres.”

Jun Su’s music video is also very popular in China.

The music video of Tarantallegra, which attracted wide attention in Korea with its sensational images, topped the May’s chart of the Yuetai Chart, the biggest music video site in China.

One of the record executives says, “Because people in China cannot connect to YouTube and Twitter, their own music video site does the job instead. The fact that Jun Su has topped the Yuetai Chart means a lot because he beat Super Junior and SNSD-Tae Ti Seo who have actively promoted their albums.”

In addition, Jun Su is successfully making his concert tour in Asia now. All 15,000 tickets for his concert held at Jamsil Gymnasium in May were sold out in only ten minutes, and all tickets for his concerts held in Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan were also sold out.

C-jes Entertainment, Jun Su’s agency, says, “We didn’t plan to promote the album on TV. Instead, we tried to create a high-quality full-length album that includes twelve songs and to plan a perfect concert with the best choreographer from the U.S. We invested a lot in the music video of ‘Tarantallegra’ and it was successful. We think it was possible because we were confident about the artist’s talent.”

C-jes will release the choreography version of the music video of “Tarantallegra” on its official YouTube channel on June 11 at 2:00 p.m.

Editor’s Note 120609: Hong Yong Rae Pulls Dr. Jin Through Cholera–Jaejoong as Kim Kyung Tak Becomes Villian

As they say where I come from–“I do declare”…Our own Kim Jaejoong has taken on this role in Dr. Jin as Kim Kyung Tak, the illegitimate son of the leader of the aristocracy. He is a troubled young man, full of fear and desiring to fit in with his family that treats him as an outcast servant. Kim Kyung Tak makes compromises in his execution of military orders to please his father–the only family member who acknowledges that he is family. The thread of the story places his heart with Hong Young Rae, the daughter of a now impoverished noble family who sees her duty as a secret Christian to love everyone equally. She does not spare herself when an epidemic of cholera breaks out among the poor, but insists on helping Dr. Jin to treat the sick. When he contracts the disease himself she stays by his side to nurse him through–even defying the societal norms of her time that prevented a noblewoman from treating an unclothed man. Through her devoted efforts Dr. Jin recovers just before Kim Kyung Tak follows his Father’s orders to burn the village where Dr. Jin is treating his patients despite the fact that reports have come in that patients are recovering. Kim Kyung Tak teeters on the edge of decency and humanitarianism as he begins to see the injustices meted out upon the people. He has not yet become strong enough to fight this system which rewards the rich and takes from the poor. There is nothing new in this theme.

Hong Young Rae exists in a parallel universe which has captured Dr. Jin and placed him 150 years in the past during the Chosun Dynasty with only his skills as a neurosurgeon to treat the sick. Modern healing methods are possible only if he can find a way to adapt the meager supplies that he has taken from 2012 to the past. The question is will Dr. Jin’s love of 2012, Yo Min Ah, recover from emergency surgery to be there for him when he returns to his own time? Will Kim Kyung Tak rally and win the heart of his fiancee, Hong Young Rae? Only more episodes will tell the tale.

I look forward to viewing Episode 6.  It seems such a long wait and an even longer wait to get to Episodes 7 and 8. If my stomach can hold out against all of the gory and bloody procedures–not to mention vomit galore– I will be that much closer to answering these questions.

Kim Jaejoong–I am so proud of you for choosing this quality role that has such potential to speak out and act out against the Order of the Day. I would be happy to see Kim Kyung Tak begin to strike against the feudal social system that denies him dignity as an illegitimate son. It will take overcoming his fear of rejection by his Father, and the motivation of wanting to win the love of Hong Young Rae.

[Fanaccount] 120604 JYJ for NII Fan Party

[Fanaccount] 120604 JYJ for NII Fan Party

I still need to write my Junsu fansign fan accounts but I’m procrastinating on doing my homework right now so oops~

I arrived at the Lotte Department Store at 영등포 about forty-five minutes before the event started. I started to get in line and then I look at the woman behind me and I see she has a ticket. She looks at me, and sees that I don’t have a ticket, and says (rather snarkily), “You need a ticket to get in. Don’t you have a ticket? Winners pick it up from the NII store.” Anyways I start to get kind of panicky because I don’t have a ticket, so I explain to the guard I got my merchandise online, and showed him my text message confirming that I won along with my ID, and he said that it’s fine and I’m good to go. Hah! Take that rude lady!

I get closer to the door and theres a man holding a paper bag, and I see people pulling bits of paper from the bag. I close my eyes and draw out a piece of paper from the bag, and I have number 33. I wasn’t sure what it ment, so I wander around and see a group of fans writing notes for the boys on post-its and sticking it to a board. On mine, I tell them that even though I can’t speak Korean well, their music has made me so happy throughout the years, and that I will always love and support them no matter what.

 Soon it’s time to go in, and I go into the event hall and find out the numbers we drew are actually our seat numbers and I just about wet myself because I drew 33 out of about 500 people, meaning I was in the second row and about 3m from the stage. They are playing the Making Of for the latest NII CF in the background.

Soon, two MCs come out and start talking to the crowd. TBH I don’t really know whats going on but I know they say they’re giving away the cardboard standees that are on the stage, and some other items as well as hugs and handshakes from the boys. And then the two MCs walk to the side of the stage and suddenly the boys start talking with their mics, but we can’t see because they are still offstage.

 Then the boys come out, and everyone bursts into screams and applauds. Junsu (wearing a blue NII shirt) is sitting closest to me, then Jaejoong (wearing a white NII shirt), and then Yoochun (wearing a grey NII shirt) is farthest ;_; (but still really close).

Also I might be crazy but I’m pretty sure Yoochun kept staring at me. Like not just glancing at me but we would make eye contact for at least 10 seconds before I would have to cover my face with my hands from blushing or look away to Jaejoong or Junsu. He did this a few times >//< I guess I really stood out? haha

So I honestly can’t remember which of these two events happened first but they ask the people in the audience wearing the same shirts as JYJ to stand up. Then, they bring the girls up on stage. The girl wearing the same shirt as Yoochun gets a back hug from him, and she covers her face while he does it because she’s so shy haha. Jaejoong had four people wearing the same shirt as him, and they each got a hug. Junsu had two girls, and they both got hugs and got to take polaroids with Junsu!

Then, they bring out the boards with the post-its and they start picking out ones to read. Like I said, I can’t speak Korean really well but I THINK Jaejoong might have picked off mine and gave it to Yoochun saying something like, “Here, this one is English, you can read it” but Yoochun laughed and took it but didn’t read it aloud so I guess I’ll never know ;_; It might be just wishful thinking.

Then, the boys drew a number from the box, and whatever number he drew the whole row got to go up and get a handshake from them… It was a row from the back this time though ;_;

At one point Yoochun started saying something (I think I remember it as “What I really like is…” and then he trailed off) and one girl shouted “헐!”. Yoochun looked at her and said, “헐?!… 대박…”

During the fanmeet, I was tweeting what was going on, so sometimes I wasn’t giving my 100% attention or not looking at the stage. While I’m tweeting about the above event, suddenly I feel a tap on my shoulder and hear “STAND UP!”, and I look around and see everyone else in the audience is standing up. I stand up and the MCs and pointing at me and still saying playfully, “STAND UP! STAND UP PLEASE! THANK YOU” and JYJ are looking right at me and grinning so I smile and give a thumbs up and say sorry! Haha I’m glad JYJ noticed me but not exactly the way I wanted to get noticed haha ;_;

Anyways they played a game where if you were wearing a certain item of clothing/were a certain type of person, you had to sit down. They asked questions like, “If you are single…”, “If you are wearing a ring…”, “If you aren’t wearing any makeup…”. They played this three different times and each winner got a bottle of perfume/cologne signed by one of the boys. Yoochuns girl got a hug from him, and Jaejoong wrote what I swear was a novel on his perfume bottle. He wrote on the edges and cap and everything haha. Junsu even initiated the hug with his girl ;o;

They start having a short chat session (which the girl beside me was kind enough to translate small bits of), and they bring up how Junsu was so shy during the latest NII photoshoot because of the girl, and he kept blushing a lot and couldn’t even touch her because he was so shy haha. Idk how much of it I believe because Junsu certainly showed his not-so-innocent side during his latest comeback haha ^^

Then, they tell us to check under our chairs. There are three chairs with pieces of paper taped to them and the winners got one of the cardboard standees. One winner was a girl in front of me, and the other two were somewhere in the back of the crowd.

They have another number drawing where a row of people (from the back again!) get to go up and get handshakes ;_; They have another talk and Jaejoong says how JYJ doesn’t wear the shoe inserts to make you taller because they are already tall enough haha. Yoochun also said how Jaejoong is working so hard for his drama and he even has to go to a shooting right after the event.

Soon after, the event comes to a close and the boys take a photo together with a NII banner, while the guards are trying to shield fans from taking photos of the boys haha. Outside of the hall, ladies that one the cardboard standees were kind enough to let us take photos of them ^^

I really hope this isn’t he only time I’m able to see all three of them together. I’m going home in a few weeks (or I might extend my stay until mid-August!), so I hope there’s another opportunity to see them, especially Yoochun! ;D

thanks a lot @yooCHUNSA

[TRANS] 120607 JYJ Kim’s Junsu, Magical Choreography “Tarantallegra” Dance Version MV To Be Revealed on 11 June

A dance version music video of the title track of JYJ’s Kim Junsu (XIA)’s first official solo album, “Tarantallegra”, will be revealed.

Kim Junsu’s management agency, C-Jes Entertainment, stated on the afternoon of 7 June, that a dance version music video for “Tarantallegra” has been prepared in order to promote the album (further) to overseas fans.

According to C-Jes, the dance version music video this time has been re-edited to focus more on the performance, unlike the (original) music video, which was created based on the unconventional concept of a wizard’s hypnotic appearance as well as both the masculine and feminine appeal.

In the music video this time, Kim Junsu has perfectly taken on the high-level choreography by the famous American choreographer, Jeri Slaughter, who is also the choreographer for Christina Aguilera, presenting a music video of high-quality which is rarely seen in Korea.

The director of the music video said, “The original music video was focused on Kim Junsu’s masculine and feminine appeals, while the dance version music video this time has been edited to include more of the group dances. Scenes that were not seen in the original music video have also been added. It is more of an entirely new music video than an edited version.”

On another note, Kim Junsu’s dance version music video will be released via JYJ’s official Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/CJESJYJ) on 11 June.

[TRANS] 120607 JYJ’s New Penzal Q Commercial Becomes A Topic Of Discussion “Strangely Addictive!”

[TRANS] 120607 JYJ’s New Penzal Q Commercial Becomes A Topic Of Discussion “Strangely Addictive!”

The new commercial of JYJ, who are active as the models for headache medication Penzal Q, has become a topic of discussion online.

The concept for the new Penzal Q commercial, which will begin airing in June, is a scene where a female fan is heard saying, “My head hurts”, amidst a JYJ concert, to which member Kim Jaejoong asks the audience in the stands, “Does anyone have headache medication?” Another female fan then shouts, “If it’s headache medication, it’s Penzal Q”. The CF later follows with Kim Junsu saying, “Penzal Q, thank you.”

Upon seeing this advertisement, netizens expressed, “The funniest among all the commercials filmed by idols”, “I’m so embarrassed I can’t even watch it”, “Commercial with an odd concept, yet it’s strangely addictive”, and “A commercial I want to see often”, among other responses.

Although there are mixed responses about the concept of the commercial, the CM song has gone viral. The lyrics which go “Whatever pain, whatever sadness, forget them all” are included in the song, which suits the concept of the CF perfectly. Jong Geun Dang distributed this song for free via its official homepage and Facebook page at the end of last year.

[Trans] 120606 Lee Tae Sung: “The Prejudices I Had Towards Idols-Turned-Actors Were All Broken By Yoochun

[Trans] 120606 Lee Tae Sung: “The Prejudices I Had Towards Idols-Turned-Actors Were All Broken By Yoochun

While “Rooftop Prince” was being broadcast, Lee Tae Sung would often demonstrate his close friendship with Park Yoochun through Twitter. To Yoochun, who had suffered the loss of his father in the earlier stages of filming, Lee Tae Sung had sent a message full of genuine care, “Although you are doing very well now, just be a son that your father would be proud of. Don’t say such heartbreaking things. You just experienced it earlier than others would. Press on.” Naturally, it makes people wonder how Park Yoochun is like in his eyes, as a colleague.

“Before the filming, I had my doubts as to whether Park Yoochun, who had started off as an idol, would be able to take on the role of Lee Gak well. So I think the way I looked at Yoochun was influenced by these social perceptions. Although he has quite little experience with filming productions as an actor, if you were to look past that, he is really very hardworking. Despite the tight filming schedule where we did not even have time to sleep, he was still able to familiarise himself perfectly with the script. He had to deal with some tough situations while filming, and in the latter half his physical condition got worse and worse, but he was still able to take on what is equivalent to 3 different roles, right up till the end. He is a good actor.
