[TRANS] 130510 Park Yoochun’s ‘Rooftop Prince’ To Begin Airing On Japanese Terrestrial TV From June

‘Rooftop Prince’, which features Hallyu star JYJ’s Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min, is set to air on TV in Japan.

According to TBS, a Japanese terrestrial broadcasting company, on the 10th, ‘Rooftop Prince’ will begin airing on the 3rd of June on TBS’ ‘Hallyu Select’ at 10:05am every day for an hour.

TBS introduce ‘Rooftop Prince’ as, “A drama that fans all over the world went crazy for, with fans from 36 countries streaming the drama live when it was airing in Korea. Park Yoochun even graced the covers of magazines in Japan even before it began airing.” TBS also talked of the company’s anticipation for the drama as they added, “Park Yoochun will steal the hearts of his viewers with high quality historical acting and a perfectly fitting role.”

‘Rooftop Prince’ first aired in Japan last July on KNTV. It then aired on WOWOW and became a huge hit as a DVD as well. A representative of the industry stated, “The popularity for the drama has spiked since JYJ ended their lawsuit in Japan and successfully held a concert in Tokyo Dome.”

JYJ Yoochun-Girls Generation Yuri Receive Popular TV Star Awards

JYJ’s Yoochun and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri both took home a Popular TV Star trophy at 2013 Paeksang Arts Awards. Park Shin Hye and Shinhwa’s Kim Dong Wan also received the honor in the film category of the award ceremony.

Yoochun spoke at the podium upon receiving the award: “I am so thankful for such an award. I will work hard and enjoy the learning process and hopefully stand here again next year.”

Kim Dong Wan also stated, “I am incredibly grateful. I lack in so many aspects as an actor but I am honored to be given an award like this. Especially for a singer-turned-actor like myself, awards mean a huge deal. I will continue to work hard as an actor and a singer as Shinhwa returns to the stage next week.”

Park Shin Hye, who received the Popular Movie Star award for three straight years, shared her thoughts: “I think a lot of the popularity was from the movie ‘Miracle in Cell no. 7.’ This is a great honor and I have nothing else to say but thanks to all my fans. Last year was a year of learning and I am extremely happy to receive an award on top of everything I learned. Thank you.”

Girls’ Generation’s Yuri was unable to attend the ceremony.

Never-before-seen still-cuts from Kim Jaejoong’s movie ‘Jackal is Coming’ have been revealed to commemorate the release of the movie in Japan.

The photos were posted on JYJ’s official Facebook page on the 3rd of May with the caption, “‘Jackal is Coming’ will be released today in Japan! Enjoy it!”

The released photos show Hallyu star Choi Hyun (Kim Jaejoong) dressed in historical attire for a music video in the movie.

His long hair and unrealistic good looks had fans leaving comments such as, “His good looks couldn’t possibly exist in real life”, “He looks better with long hair than I do”, “He’s prettier than a woman. He’s a true man who came straight out of a comic book!” and “He makes me feel so bad about myself because he’s so pretty.”

Meanwhile, ‘Jackal is Coming’ is a comedy that depicts the kidnapping of Hallyu star Choi Hyun (Kim Jaejoong) by a slightly lacking killer (Song Ji Hyo) and hit the big screens in Japan on the 3rd.

[News] 130507 TVXQ to celebrate 10 year anniversary this year, opened the doors for idols who followed

TVXQ debuted in back 2003, and they’ve come an incredibly long way.

The legendary group will be meeting their 10th anniversary this year in December, and now the boys men are more than just singers. Korean media outlet Newsen recently wrote an article chronicling how much the group has achieved over the years.

Yunho and Changmin have been active in both dramas and variety shows, and they’ve spread out from just Korea and Japan to all over the world.

Yunho has been sometimes criticized for his acting, but he showed much improvement in the recent drama, ‘Queen of Ambition‘. In the past, Changmin was never active in variety shows, but that’s changed recently and he has been a permanent panel member of ‘Moonlight Prince‘ and ‘Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education‘.

They then went onto create a record for themselves with a 5-dome tour in Japan, attracting 850,000 fans. They’re also have the privilege of being the first foreign artist to perform at the 72,300 seat Nissan Stadium. Of course, after that they’ll be heading toward the rest of the globe with their world tour.

It can’t be said that their road had some bumps along the way. They experienced the biggest pain when they split into halves with JYJ and TVXQ. But still, all five (even those who aren’t active under the TVXQ name anymore) broke out the road of ‘idol-dom’ for countless hoobaes that would follow in their steps.

The Actor-Actress Families

Kim Tae Hee and Lee Wan have both had great acting careers. Kim Tae Hee, after debuting in 2000 as an advertising model, gained a lot of momentum in the widely popular ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and has continued to build a great track record as one of the most beautiful actresses in Korea. Girls’ Generation’s Jessica and f(x)’s Krystal are probably the best-known siblings. Often called the ‘beautiful Jungs,’ they are both members of top-notch girl-groups.

2NE1′s Dara and MBLAQ’s Thunder are also siblings. After spending their childhood in the Philippines, Dara paved the way for her brother as she got selected to become an idol trainee through a survival audition program and eventually became a member of 2NE1.

Last but not least, there are the Gwangmin-Youngmin twins of Boyfriend. With pretty facial feature, they have build a respectable fan base with their group, Boyfriend.

B1A4′s Jinyoung has expressed his joy in joining the ranks of the Act-dols (Idols that Act).

Jinyoung, who participated in the press conference on 15 April at the CJ E&M Centre in Sangam-dong for the new tvN drama “She is Wow,” picked JYJ’s Park Yoochun and Big Bang’s TOP as role models.

He said, “I watched Yoochun act, and felt the earnest in his acting. I thought that he was a really good actor,” and “In the movie ‘Into the Fire’, TOP’s acting was really good as well.  His eye expressions were great. I look at the two of them, and it makes me work harder.”

Kim Junsu’s English single ‘UNCOMMITTED’ has won the Best Korean Male Singer Award at the ‘V-chart awards’, held by China’s biggest MV site ‘Yinyue Tai’ on the 13th.

At the first awards ceremony held by the site, Kim Junsu was given the Best Korean Male Singer Award, which was based on a voting poll which fans from all over the world participated in. Kim Junsu’s win was based on his music video’s success on the V-charts during 2012, as well as the votes that were tabulated.

Kim Junsu’s first English single ‘Uncommitted’ is a melodious R&B song that features a collaboration with ‘Bruce Automatic’, the Sony Music composer who has worked with The Wanted and Leona Lewis, and was extremely popular in China, South America and Europe.

C-JeS Entertainment stated, “We believe this award is more meaningful because it included Kim Junsu’s rankings on the V-charts in 2012. Kim Junsu is extremely happy and thankful to have received an award at an overseas awards ceremony with no promotions other than releasing the music video and holding concerts, and he plans to give his thanks through a video soon.”

A representative in the music industry stated, “After JYJ’s Tokyo Dome concert (The return of the JYJ), ‘Uncommitted’ topped Amazon Japan’s K-POP charts, proving just how popular the song is. The reception from Europe and South America has been explosive since Kim Junsu’s 13-city world tour last year.”

TVXQ’s Max Changmin has won the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the Japanese Movie Critics Awards.

The Japanese Movie Critics Awards committee released their schedule and winners list of the awards ceremony, and it was revealed that Max Changmin won the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ for his role as ‘MoMo’ in the movie ‘Run With the Gold’, which was released in November, 2012.

This is Max Changmin’s second newcomer award since receiving the ‘Best Rookie Actor Award’ at the Japanese Academy Awards in March.

The Japanese Movie Critics Awards, which is in its 22nd year, is a highly respectable movie awards ceremony that chooses its winners based on the reviews of movie critics in Japan and will be held on the 2nd of May in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, Max Changmin was chosen as the MC of KBS 2TV’s new variety program ‘Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety and Sports’ and is currently showing a new side of himself to viewers.
