Kangta showed his strong affection for TVXQ, who are his juniors and label-mates.

Kangta appeared on YTN’s ‘News12 – Issue & People’ that aired on the 15th and said, “Like HOT, only two of the original five members of TVXQ stayed in the company.”

He also stated, “TVXQ are going through the same things that I once went through. They’re walking down a path similar to the one I walked down once. When I think about the fact that they’re probably suffering from the same worries and troubles that I went through, my heart goes out to them and I feel a lot of affection for them.”

Kangta added, “The advice that I can give to the members of TVXQ is, ‘Nothing can be helped about the fact that things change as time passes.’ You need to recognize that a celebrity’s position and popularity will change, and I hope that they strengthen their internal stability by preparing skills and talents for other things they could do in the future.”

He revealed, “That’s how you can survive when your popularity isn’t as great as it was before. I don’t have much to say to them now because they’re doing so well. But I’d like them to be prepared to beat out their loneliness with internal stability in the future.”

[TRANS] 130213 Tohoshinki’s “Catch Me” Certified “Gold” By The Recording Industry Association Of Japan

Male duo unit Tohoshinki received a “gold disk” certification in Japan.

On 10 Feb, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced the accredited albums and singles in an announcement titled “Gold Disks in January”. A “gold” certification is given to albums/singles which accumulate sales of more than 100,000 copies. Tohoshinki’s new single “Catch Me – if you wanna-”, which was released in Japan on 16 Jan, received a “gold” certification.

This single recorded sales of 84,666 copies within a day, and attained 1st place on the daily charts, and of course the weekly charts. This (allowed Tohoshinki) to set the new record of being the first foreign artistes to have 12 singles rank 1st on the Oricon weekly charts, proving their extreme popularity once again.

Tohoshinki will be releasing their new Japanese album “Time” on 6 March, and subsequently begin their tour of the 5 biggest domes in Japan – Tokyo Dome, Osaka Kyocera Dome, Fukuoka Yahoo Japan Dome, Sapporo Dome and Nagoya Dome – beginning with a concert at the Saitama Super Arena on 27 April.

Meanwhile, Tohoshinki are focusing on their individual activities. Uknow Yunho is acting in the SBS Monday-Tuesday drama “Queen of Ambition”, while Changmin is appearing in KBS2′s variety programme “Moonlight Prince”.

Super Junior and TVXQ were awarded “Singer of The Year” awards under the album category for the 3rd and 4th quarter (of last year) respectively during the “2nd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards”, which were held at the Olympic Hall at the Olympic Park in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the evening of 13 Feb.

TVXQ’s “Catch Me” ranked first in the fourth quarter with sales of over 120,000 copies. Changmin was unable to attend the ceremony on this day due to filming for “Moonlight Prince”, and hence only Yunho was in attendance. Yunho said, “Changmin wanted to come, but could not due to his filming so I came alone.” He also expressed his gratitude to officials and staff from the management agency, and said “This award belongs to Cassiopeia.”

Yunho also went onto say, “I think that for a singer, singing and expressing yourself on stage is the answer. Even 10, 20 years from now, we will be singers that are answerable (to everyone) on stage.

The “Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” are based on accurate and objective data obtained from Gaon Chart results (digital music downloads, record sales). The “Singer of the Year” awards this time are awarded to artistes whose record sales ranked number one in each of the respective four quarters from January to December 2012.

TRANS] 130122 ‘As Expected From TVXQ’ – The First Overseas Artistes To Have 12 Oricon Chart Topping Singles

TVXQ have become the first overseas artistes to have 12 singles top the Oricon charts in Japan.

On the 22nd, TVXQ’s agency stated, “TVXQ’s new single ‘Catch Me-If you wanna-’, which was released on the 16th, topped the daily Oricon singles charts as soon as it was released. It topped the weekly charts as well, making it their 12th single to top the Oricon weekly singles charts.”

TVXQ’s success has broken their own record for the most singles topping the Oricon weekly charts as overseas artistes. This is their 28th single to enter the TOP 10 of the weekly single charts since their 7th single ‘SKY’ in August, 2006, breaking the record for the most #1 singles and the most singles in the TOP 10 of the weekly singles charts released by overseas artistes. Their latest single contains the Japanese version of ‘Catch Me’, the title song of TVXQ’s 6th Korean album last September. ‘Catch Me’ topped various music charts in Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Japan.

Oricon’s official homepage posted an article with the title, “TVXQ score their 12th chart-topping single! Breaking the record for ‘the most #1 singles’ for overseas singers”.

Meanwhile, TVXQ will be releasing their new Japanese album ‘TIME’ on the 6th of March and will begin their Dome Tour (Tokyo Dome, Oksaka Kyocera Dome, Fukuoka Yahoo!Japan Dome, Sapporo Dome, Nagoya Dome) on the 27th of April with their Saitama Super Arena performance.

TVXQ’s Choikang Changmin (24, Shim Changmin) has become ‘Kang Ho Dong’s New Man’.

According to broadcasting representatives, Choikang Changmin will be working with Kang Ho Dong on his return to KBS variety shows. This will be the first time that Choikang Changmin makes a regular appearance on a variety show. Since making his debut as a member of TVXQ in 2004, Choikang Changmin has been focusing on his activities as a singer for the past eight years.

It has been found that the production team have high expectations for Choikang Changmin’s addition to the show.

Choikang Changmin has not revealed much of his true personality on broadcasted TV shows aside from his image as a singer. He has not tapped into his potential in variety shows yet. Though his image as a model student is strong, close friends of Choikang Changmin have stated that he is famous for being a ‘character full of mischief’. He laughs a lot too. Many are curious to see if Choikang Changmin will be revealing his ‘lacking’ charm in this new variety show. There are broadcasting representatives who are banking on Choikang Changmin becoming ‘the 2nd Lee Seung Gi’.

The KBS Variety Sector has stated that it is in the final stages of preparing the new show, calling in celebrities such as Choikang Changmin to make appearances. Set to begin airing mid-January of 2013, the show is currently preparing to start filming at the beginning of the new year.

The concept of Kang Ho Dong’s new KBS variety show has yet to be revealed. Though there are rumors that it will be a talk show, the production company is keeping silent on the details of the show. The KBS Variety Sector has revealed that they are planning to air Kang Ho Dong’s new program on Saturdays. A representative stated, “Kang Ho Dong’s new program is being kept a secret,” and “We’re making sure it stays this way because the wrong information during the preparation process could start the show off on the wrong foot.”
