According to the Hanteo Charts on the 9th of May, Kim Jaejoong’s ‘I’, which was released on the 16th of January, took the number one spot on the real-time charts.

[News] 130507 TVXQ To Celebrate 10 year Anniversary This Year, Opened The Doors For Idols Who Followed

[News] 130507 TVXQ to celebrate 10 year anniversary this year, opened the doors for idols who followed

TVXQ debuted in back 2003, and they’ve come an incredibly long way.

The legendary group will be meeting their 10th anniversary this year in December, and now the boys men are more than just singers. Korean media outlet Newsen recently wrote an article chronicling how much the group has achieved over the years.

Yunho and Changmin have been active in both dramas and variety shows, and they’ve spread out from just Korea and Japan to all over the world.

Yunho has been sometimes criticized for his acting, but he showed much improvement in the recent drama, ‘Queen of Ambition‘. In the past, Changmin was never active in variety shows, but that’s changed recently and he has been a permanent panel member of ‘Moonlight Prince‘ and ‘Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education‘.

They then went onto create a record for themselves with a 5-dome tour in Japan, attracting 850,000 fans. They’re also have the privilege of being the first foreign artist to perform at the 72,300 seat Nissan Stadium. Of course, after that they’ll be heading toward the rest of the globe with their world tour.

It can’t be said that their road had some bumps along the way. They experienced the biggest pain when they split into halves with JYJ and TVXQ. But still, all five (even those who aren’t active under the TVXQ name anymore) broke out the road of ‘idol-dom’ for countless hoobaes that would follow in their steps.

[TRANS] 130424 Choikang Changmin, Contributes Lyrics For SHINee’s Album ‘First Time Writing For Another Artiste’

[TRANS] 130424 Choikang Changmin, Contributes Lyrics For SHINee’s Album ‘First Time Writing For Another Artiste’

Choikang Changmin participated in (the production of) SHINee’s album as a lyricist.

The songs from SHINee’s 3rd official album “Chapter 2 ‘Why So Serious?’”, which will be released on 26 April, were revealed.

Among the songs included in the album this time, the track that is particularly attention-grabbing is the song titled “Can’t Leave (떠나지 못해)”. It has been a topic of discussion even before the track was revealed, as there was news that TVXQ’s Choikang Changmin had written the lyrics for this song.

This is the first time that Choikang Changmin has written lyrics for another singer.

Before writing lyrics for SHINee’s song this time, Choikang Changmin had shown his outstanding lyric-writing abilities through “Evergreen”, “Love In The Ice”, “12:34″, “Confession” and “I Swear”. In particular, he showed his capabilities as a musician through his expression of emotions.

According to an SM representative on 24 April via Newsen, “As Choikang Changmin is usually interested in writing lyrics, and has had thoughts of participating in the lyric-writing for other artistes, he contributed the lyrics for SHINee’s “Can’t Leave” this time.” The representative also revealed a behind-the-scenes story, “We received lyrics from many popular lyricists for this song, but it was decided that Choikang Changmin’s lyrics were the best among them, so it was chosen.”

Meanwhile, Choikang Changmin is currently active as a permanent cast member of KBS2TV’s “Our Neighborhood’s Master of Variety And Sports”, and TVXQ’s 5-dome tour will begin in Saitama, Japan on 27 April.

[TRANS] 130405 In Response To SBS’ ‘JYJ Concert Report’, Netizens Say, “Don’t Generalize Them As A Part Of Hallyu”

[TRANS] 130405 In Response To SBS’ ‘JYJ Concert Report’, Netizens Say, “Don’t Generalize Them As A Part Of Hallyu”

On the 4th, SBS reported that JYJ sold out all 150,000 seats of their Tokyo Dome performances. In response to this, netizens criticized, “Those aren’t Hallyu fans, those are JYJ fans,” and “Stop generalizing JYJ’s achievements as those of the Hallyu Wave.”

JYJ held their ‘The Return of the JYJ in Tokyo’ concert from the 2nd till the 4th at Tokyo Dome. Reporting their concert, SBS stated, “With the relationship between Korea and Japan freezing up and the Hallyu Wave’s popularity dwindling in Japan, it seems as though things are getting better.” Visiting a Korea Town in Japan, the SBS reporter stated, “With a continuous string of large-scale concerts by Hallyu stars in Japan, many are curious to see if the dying popularity of the Hallyu Wave will be revived this year.”

Netizens threw sharp criticisms at SBS’ report of the concert.

One netizen (soce****) stated, “There exist Hallyu singers who can’t appear on Korean TV? And they have the nerve to slide in news about SM Town, which is part of the entertainment agency that’s stopping JYJ from performing in Korea, into news about JYJ’s concert? How underhanded. Those people aren’t Hallyu fans, they’re people who have waited for JYJ for three years. Korean broadcasting companies do all they can to stop JYJ from appearing on Korean television but once they do something amazing, they make it sound like their achievements were because of Hallyu. How disgusting.”

Other comments included, “I know for a fact that large-scale entertainment agencies have held concerts across the world using our tax money and exaggerated their successes to fill their pockets with even more money. It’s great that Hallyu is improving Korea’s image in the world, but it sickens me to see such acts by broadcasting companies who seal dirty deals with an entertainment agency that’s tying JYJ down and blocking their names from getting out… This isn’t the first time that JYJ’s achievements have been over generalized to that of K-pop as a whole.” (Daechae****)

More criticisms followed stating, “Though I can understand the broadcasting company’s desire to revive the dying popularity of the Hallyu Wave, shouldn’t it also focus on relaying news accurately? They should be focusing on how JYJ have survived and are still so popular when they haven’t been able to sing a single note on TV in many years whereas the Hallyu Wave, which was backed heavily by the government, is slowly fading away.” (soce****)

Since they beginning of their conflicts with former agency SM Entertainment, and their unilateral contract suspension by AVEX in 2010, JYJ have not been able to appear on TV or release albums through regular procedures. In November of 2012, JYJ ended their legal battle with SM Entertainment with a settlement, and won their lawsuit against AVEX in January of this year.

During a press conference on the 4th, JYJ stated, “The meaning of the first time we stood on this stage (Tokyo Dome) was ‘a new beginning’. We could have never guessed that it would be our last Japanese performance,” and “We were frustrated about not being able to perform or appear on TV, both our Korean and Japanese activities were completely blocked off.”

However, they added, “But, it was a time for us to grow and mature as people and artistes. We’re grateful for every little thing that has happened,” and “Now, even just having our voices on the radio makes us happy. We would like for this concert to be a new beginning, rather than an end.”

They continued to state, “Just because our legal issues have been resolved, doesn’t mean that the obstacles around us will go away,” and “We know that the external pressure around us might intensify. Nothing is going as we had planned. But we will do our best, however small the tasks that we’re given are.”

Meanwhile, domestic fans cheered JYJ on as they successfully completed all three of their Tokyo Dome concerts. Netizens left comments such as, “The three of you really are the representatives of Hallyu! You’re amazing! I can’t wait to see what you do next! Keep going!” (spdd****), “Please perform in Korea~~” (bear****) and “I was sad to see the Hallyu Wave faltering because of the Dokdo issue, but the explosive response JYJ received in Japan shows how strong Hallyu still is. I’m proud to be Korean. Great job, JYJ~” (ldwc****)

[TRANS][VIDEO] 130405 Kantame Daily: Exclusive Interview with Kim Jaejoong in Nanjing 04052013

Interviewer: First of all, having your Asia tour, solo concert and fan meeting in Nanjing, how do you feel now?
JJ: I came to Nanjing for the first time last year. This is the second time.
I am coming more songs, nine?
Interviewer: Ten songs?
JJ: I got more songs, so I hope to convey my wish people coming this time
should enjoy more.
Interviewer: I think you do.
People in Japan is also looking forward to it much. They are supporting you.

Interviewer: How is your fatigue? You look busy. Don’t you have fatigue?
JJ: Yeah, I have some today. I had live concerts over yesterday.
Interviewer: You did.
JJ: But, once the live starts, I’ll be fine.
Interviewer: Yeah. And as for the points worthy of note in your stage this time,
what’s the biggest point that you hope everyone to look?
JJ: It is a gathering of fan meeting and mini live concert this time.
They can enjoy communication between fans and myself and feel an
atmosphere of live performance. It is a good event. They can feel both.
Interviewer: It must be!

Interviewer: Would you tell me if you have something you want to
accomplish for a goal this year?
JJ: As Jaejoong or of JYJ?
Interviewer: Yeah, as Kim Jaejoong!

JJ: Haha. First, as Kim Jaejoong, again in a new work, I will be able to try acting. Either in dramas or movies, I can meet everyone, I think. When I had a tour last time, it was for my mini album. I hope to release a full album next.
Interviewer: I hope so. Then what is the object as JYJ?
JJ: As JYJ, uhm, this year, I hope to release JYJ’s full album. We had Tokyo Dome over yesterday, right? Having more activities in Japan is our big hope.
Interviewer: I’m expecting it. For you, what kind of existence is JYJ?
JJ: Let me see.
Interviewer: Is it hard to say just in a word?
JJ: Yeah, of course it is a must to exist. Each is not worth one by one. Three can be united. Well how should I say…I don’t know what way I should say even in Hangul, Korean. How to express is difficult.
Interviewer: Go ahead in Hangul.
JJ: Being one,(unclear) I felt it yesterday. With everyone in the venue and we, three members, we can be the one, unity I recognized it yesterday. The members are such existences. They are two of “the one, unity” I think.
Interviewer: Thank you very much. I think fans felt it much as well. Then from now on I would like to ask you some more casual questions. What do you feel the gladdest to do now?
JJ: The gladdest to do? It’s now.
Interviewer: This moment?
JJ: Yeah, at this moment, being here probably. It is hard that I understand myself. what can I say? Haha. As just a person’s character, an artist and an actor, I have a lot of shortages and more things to develop. Uhmmm.
Interviewer: Then for the last, would you give any messages to many fans who love you, please?
JJ: Yes. Well, I will have the 10th anniversary upcoming December since my debut. I really appreciate their constant support and love. I thank them.
