[Info] 120913 Biggest K-Pop Music Event To Be Held in November

[Info] 120913 Biggest K-Pop music event to be held inĀ November

Arguably the biggest Korean pop music event to be held in Singapore so far will take place on Nov 23.

SM Town Live Tour III, a multi-act mega concert over four hours featuring Korean music superstars Super Junior, Girlsā€™ Generation and BoA among others, will be staged at the Marina Bay floating platform.

Its stage is touted as the worldā€™s largest floating stage. Measuring 120m by 83m, or 9,960 sq m, it is considerably larger than the 5,572 sq m National Day Parade stage this year.

And with 18,000 tickets to be released for sale, starting Sept 29, it should also draw far more fans than the Mnet Music Awards held last year at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which has a maximum capacity of 12,000.

At the moment, Singapore will be one of only three stops for the concert in South-east Asia. Jakarta and Bangkok are the other two.

Ā SM Town Live, which started in 2008, is a marquee event for the Korean pop label SM Entertainment, gathering the companyā€™s roster of top acts such as Super Junior, Girlsā€™ Generation, BoA, Shinee, f(x) and TVXQ. While the final line-up in Singapore has yet to be finalised, the first three acts have been confirmed.

The 10-member boy band Super Junior and nine-strong girl group Girlsā€™ Generation, among the most popular K-pop acts in Singapore, have performed here in the past year.

Singer BoA, a former teen prodigy who released her debut album at the age of 13, has never performed in Singapore, as hercareer had peaked well before the Korean wave, or Hallyu, had started.

The current SM Town Live Tour is the concertā€™s third edition.

According to local concert promoter Running Into The Sun, which is bringing the concert here, it is a huge undertaking which has taken it 2 1/2 years to bring to reality.

Ms Beatrice-Chia Richmond, the companyā€™s creative director, says: ā€œSM Town is truly the mother of all K-pop concerts.ā€

She adds that the event is a ā€œmassive concert that has only been staged so far at iconic international venuesā€, including Seoulā€™s
Olympic Stadium, Los Angelesā€™ Staples Center, Tokyoā€™s Tokyo Dome and New Yorkā€™s Madison Square Garden.

In Singapore, 5,000 fans will get to be in the mosh pit on the floating platform itself, with the luckiest ones just 3m from the stage.

The four-hour concert will feature fireworks, flying stunts and water features.

Priority ticket sales for OCBC card members and Samsung customers (who have to produce any Samsung handset) are from Sept 29 to Oct 1.

Public sales starts from Oct 2.

Prices will be announced later and it is not yet known how many tickets will be set aside for priority sales.

It must be because my voice is naturally husky.. Thatā€™s why no matter how I sing, my voice really isnā€™t the type that gets hoarse easily.. But today when I woke up, finally my voice went hoarse.. Is it because all the tension is eased now..? At the same time while thinking ā€œAh, itā€™s been such a long timeā€..Itā€™s also a relief that it became like this after the South American tour endedā€¦.^^ Although I lost my voice.. because itā€™s like a badge to show how Iā€™ve come so far in the past 3 weeks without rest.. itā€™s a kind of weariness that makes me happy.. To the American and South American fans who made my heart run so fast.. and give me the energy to do nothing but my best every single time.. Thank you sincerely.. Ah.. Now I really have to get some rest 慎

[News] 120910 JYJā€™s Junsu Performs For A Total of 5,000 Fans in Mexico and Brazil

[News] 120910 JYJā€™s Junsu Performs ForĀ A Total of 5,000 Fans in Mexico andĀ Brazil

JYJā€˜s Kim Junsu (XIA) put on a superb performance in front of 5,000 fans this past week.

The singer who wrapped up successful shows in New York and Los Angeles continued his World Tour by performing at the Blackberry Auditorium in Mexico on September 6th (KST).

The fans there enthusiastically responded to his visit by perfectly singing along to his songs ā€œTARANTALLEGRAā€œ, ā€œUNCOMMITTEDā€œ, ā€œI Donā€™t Like Loveā€œ, ā€œSet Me Freeā€œ, and more.

3,500 fans flocked to this performance in Mexico, and the local media outlets as well as the cultural center were shocked to see that the show had completely sold out.

Producer Alex of Mexico Media TV ā€˜Aztecaā€™ remarked, ā€œKim Junsu (XIA) is a total performer. His independent solo album was amazing, and we feel his performance today was also remarkable. We would like to continue to share news regarding Junsu (XIA) with the Mexican fans in the future.ā€

And after observing Junsuā€™s show, Seo Nam Kyo of the Korean Culture Institue in Mexico remarked, ā€œThere are about 50,000 Hallyu fans in Mexico, and I knew that K-Pop was popular amongst the young people, however, I truly felt it after seeing this performance today. It was a performance where I was able to realize why Junsu was indeed so popular, and I hope that starting with this concert, more and more Mexicans will be able to get to know Korea.ā€

As soon as his performance in Mexico came to an end, Junsu got on a plane the next day to perform at Espacio Victory in SĆ£o Paulo, Brazil. At the performance where 1,300 fans were present, Junsu made the crowd go wild when he stated in Portugese, ā€˜Obrigado (thank you)ā€˜, and ā€˜Amore (I love you)ā€˜.ā€

ā€œComing to South America to perform an independent concert was a huge challenge on my part, and I was concerned about a few different things because I could not utilize the greatest equipment, but those concerns vanished once I arrived,ā€ Junsu said. ā€œThere were so many fans who loved my songs, and I earned new energy. I would like to take responsibility to successfully wrap up the rest of my World Tour.ā€

[Fanaccount] 120902 XIA 1st World Tour Concert in LA

[Fanaccount] 120902 XIA 1st World Tour Concert inĀ LA

So much I saw, so much to say, yet so speechless during Junsuā€™s actual live performance >.<

People I met: I thought I had to make sacrifices to make it here, but others really showed their support for Junsu. This was my first ever JYJ/DBSK anything concert ever (went to JYJ LA showcase but not actual concert) so I was not anticipating the global support Junsu and the rest of JYJ has! Met fans from Canada, Japan, Thailand, China and Vietnam. From states: Utah, Nevada, Washington, and of course California.

-Also got really close to a Korean Fan, who is studying abroad here at the perfect time for the concert. She is AMAZINGG. Was a fan since Debut DBSK days, still a fan of them all, and almost 10 years and counting!! I was such a nuisance, kept asking so many inside scoops on our boys. And boy, did she know A LOT. K-fans really do keep a lot to themselves haha ^^;; For instance she said some fact/faction on some of their dating life but we couldnā€™t go too deep b/c of our communication issues. PS: She said I could fan account what she says as she canā€™t really write in English, and I will remark on her a lot x)

-Talked with Automatic and his FiancĆ©! Automatic, was a star! He was so chill with talking to Suā€™s fans and getting pictures. His fiancĆ© told our group that she was happy to work with Junsu, and ā€“cross fingers- with JYJ in the future. It was also her that helped Su with his English for Uncommitted. We said thanks for trying her best as his English coach HEHE b/c he really did improve!

Ā

The Line: Thank you to JYJ4SF for preparing so much for us (lightsticks, bookmarks, signs etc.) while waiting for so long! One scene I might be embarrassed about was when we were moving into the Hollywood Palladium, there was food/drink litter and trash EVERYWHERE from waiting in the long lines. My new Korean friend said, that NEVER in Korea would they trash the outside venue because they did not want to tarnish the name of JYJ/Junsu. YIKES, I felt ashamed, though I do admit this part of Hollywood canā€™t be much cleaner.

Venue: The venue itself was small but intimate for Junsuā€™s LA concert. Top floor was not open for general audience, only Automatic and other VIP guests went up there. I heard standing floor VIP was sold out, and looked filled to me. Even where I stood in general admission, it was partially full. Love the turnout! There would have been more red and special glowsticks visible too if they were not confiscated by staff at the gate -_- But one good thing about a smaller venue, everyone can practically have a good view of Su.

ACTUAL CONCERT: Iā€™m at a loss of words. I was calm before waiting in line, and then anticipation and excitement arose! I yelled at times, but wanted to hear all of Suā€™s incredible live singing so did not jump around as much. It went by too fast, and I didnā€™t wanna miss a single beat. JUNSU came out, and I felt all our adrenaline, blood pumping. My feet were not tired or sore anymore.

-I couldnā€™t tell, but my Korean friend whose seen him countless of times in Korea said his condition isnā€™t his best. He was not sick it seems, but prolly due to jetlag and back to back concerts. I thought he was so powerful, intense and energetic!

-FAVORITE SONGS: All were FANTASTIC but must see are Tarantellegra, No gain, INTOXICATION, Elizabeth, and Uncommitted. My favorite ballads: Round and Round, You are so Beautiful. Su even ripped his pants in Uncommitted but played it off well. Couldnā€™t see in my area, until he left stage suddenly, quickly changed, and told us about it. Su said it was a treat for those who were able to catch that haha.

-During Genie Time, Junsu received a soccer jersey shirt as a gift! Donā€™t think it counted as a wish. He did Angel Xiah (which he STILL LOVES TO DO based on my k-fan friend, but is shyer as he ages and with men around). He said happy birthday to a fan (lucky girl!), and we wanted him to do an Oyaji gag, but declined prolly cause most of us canā€™t understand. You underestimate us Su, how can we not know your favorite gags?! He finally did Gangnam style with all our persuading as our last wish!! Maybe he be more comfortable with music on, but I like seeing him all cute and awkward LOL. He said he canā€™t really do it, cause he simply watched the video but never tried learning it. Junsu, please. You are a fast learner haha, and you say you listen to Gangnam style frequently in your cyworld interview too. Interpreter said Junsu did meet Psy in LA just recently as a plus!

-A fan boy said something prolly like an ā€œI love you Junsu!ā€ and Su replied with his lively English words he knows, sorta like, ā€œWOOH! CHHYEAA! OK! THANK YOU!ā€

-Fallen Leaves: Yes, he chocked near the end of the performance. No tears, but definitely watery eyed. Aww Su, this song is very meaningful to you and still gets you emotional. Kind of ironic because my Korean friend said she wants to see Junsu cry because in all her concerts seeing him, he never cried! Now sheā€™s saying, ā€œUljima (donā€™t cry)!)ā€ He paused a bit to collect himself, tried to smile a bit for us, breathed a big breath, and continued to complete the song. BEAUTIFUL.

CONCLUSION: Honestly, I am not even Junsu biased but Junsu truly captured my heart during this two hour event. I understand why Junsu is so sexy yet so cute, so childlike yet so mature/charismatic! He really is a 110% performer/artist. I can admit no one can hit dance moves with live vocals as spot on as him. It went by too fast. They really do leave us with wanting more huh?! I went by myself, came away with unforgettable memories.
I was trying to make it short but was much longer than expected so sorry! Overall, my favorite and BEST CONCERT Iā€™ve ever been to! No exaggeration needed.

thanks: Alyssa (a reader of sharingyoochun!)

[News] 120906 JYJā€™s Jun Su says, ā€œMy Ideal Type Is A Feminine Womanā€

[News] 120906 JYJā€™s Jun Su says, ā€œMy Ideal Type IsĀ A FeminineĀ Womanā€

JYJā€™s Jun Su recently talked about his ideal type.

On September 5 at 2:00 p.m.,Ā Jun Su gave an interview to Korean reporters atĀ Camino Real Hotel in Mexico City before holding a concert in Mexico.

After releasing his first solo album, Tarantallegra, in May, Jun Su had concerts in Seoul, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, New York, and LA, meeting over 40,000 fans. On September 6 at 8:00 p.m., Jun Su will hold a concertĀ at the Auditorio BlackBerry in Mexico City. Heā€™s the first Korean solo singer who holds a concert in Mexico city.

Jun Su also talked about his ideal type.

Jun Su said, ā€œI want to have a girlfriend. I donā€™t have a specific ideal type, but I like a girl who is polite and feminine. Iā€™ve dated a few times, but I donā€™t have a girlfriend now. I think I will be kicked out even if I have a girlfriend now, though,ā€ insinuating that heā€™s currently having busy days.

Regarding the fact that heā€™s the first Korean solo singer holding a concert in Mexico, Jun Su said, ā€œThis is my first visit to Mexico, and Iā€™m very happy to be able to hold a concert here. More than 3,000 fans will come to my concert in spite of the fact that this is my first concert in Mexico. Iā€™m so thrilled.ā€

Jun Su also said, ā€œWhen I got this opportunity to hold a concert in Mexico, I thought K-pop had really spread all over the world. Iā€™ll try my utmost to create the best concert for my fans in Mexico.ā€

Jun Su will also hold concerts in Brazil, Chile, and some European countries.

[News] 120904 Xia Junsu ā€“ Hollywood Palladium ā€“ September 2, 2012

[News] 120904 Xia Junsu ā€“ Hollywood Palladium ā€“ September 2,Ā 2012

Xia Junsu
Hollywood Palladium

At 25-years-old, ā€œXiaā€ Kim Junsu has seen more than his share of drama. He ascended to pop royalty in the wildly successful five-member boy band TVXQ (aka DBSK). Following the success of their iconic single ā€œMiroticā€ in 2009, he and two other members filed a lawsuit against their label, citing unfair profits margins and an unreasonably long 13-year contract.

They won. Sort of.

In response, the label filed an injunction against the rebellious three; though it was dismissed last year, it led to a hiatus of the legendary K-pop act. Some of the new members formed a new boy band, JYJ, which Kim is still in, despite having his solo gig on the side.

What sets Xia apart from other soloists is that heā€™s had to label hop (heā€™s now with C-JeS) so he can get closer to doing whatever he wants; Korean record labels are run like the old Hollywood studio system, and rarely do any stars get autonomy.

Like pop diva Robyn, Kimā€™s had to snuff out his own bubblegum career in order to emerge as an artist with some semblance of control over his own vision. Thereā€™s a reason most proteges donā€™t strike out on their own: Xiaā€™s own journey has, up until recently, been plagued with constant label changes and suspensions.

In the past three years Kim has played the titular character of Mozart!, released his first solo album Tarantallegra, and has an international tour that recently went through Asia, Europe, South America and is now finishing in the U.S.

While Kim relied heavily on a translator throughout the night, it did not preclude him from interacting happily and extensively. In fact, there were times when Kim just looked content to be musing out loud to a throng of doe-eyed girls.

His new English single ā€œUncommitted,ā€ produced by Bruce ā€œAutomaticā€ Vanderveer, sounds like it could have been for JT. After performing it live for the first time, Kim remarked that it was really hard to be so intimate with the ladies playing his girlfriends in the video, who had to coach and relax him on set. ā€œReally!ā€ he chirped to the crowd, in English.

Like Michael Jackson, to whom he is often compared, Kim proved to be a commanding performer, carrying a bit of sexuality, but also naivetĆ©. In his bashful interactions with the crowd you almost couldnā€™t believe this was the guy whose trademark move is the pantomimed doggy style.

Kim has a peculiar allure. He combines the androgyny of a Japanese shock rocker with the masculine prowess of a R&B mack daddy. As the son of a former Miss Korea, he knows a thing or two about pageantry and possesses a feminine mystique. And it drives girls wild.

Itā€™s a shame that most of the night was marred by poor sound quality. Kimā€™s set design and production quality was impressive, but couched within a traditional rock venue, the hard, militaristic beats didnā€™t quite work.

Ā

Ā Tiffanie Lee

What Kimā€™s solo career has shown is that his creative passions run far, wide and random. He is a disciplined veteran who easily belts out throaty, velvety jams, all while throwing down polished dance moves. But deep down inside, you know he just canā€™t wait to let loose on his operatic power ballads.Kim absolutely radiated (and wept) during songs like ā€œI Hate Loveā€ and ā€œLeaves.ā€ Heā€™s not just a theatrical performer. Heā€™s a theater geek trapped in a pop starā€™s body. Babs, Liza, this is your guy.Nevertheless, the standout performance of the night was the albumā€™s titular single ā€œTarantallegra,ā€ a rumbling hybrid of pop-meets-classical. The songā€™s catchline is, ā€œWhat music would you listen to?ā€ His raging international fans can easily answer that.

Personal Bias: I still get this guy confused with Big Bangā€™s G-Dragon. I know, not all blonde, svelte K-poppers look alike.

The Crowd: Tweens on the verge of meltdown.
