A New Birthday–A New Kim Jaejoong Revealed?Ā by Momma Cha
Truth to tell Jae, this new side of you isn’t so new to some of us. We’ve always known that you possessed a zany sense of humor, and that you have the ability and the inclination to hang off of chandeliers.^^Ā So, that having been said with extreme love…<3
Ā Ā Ā Ā I usually do a Birthday post with pictures, narrative, and video of Jae that I have enjoyed from the previous year–but this time around I have something to say about the talent of Kim Jaejoong that has been revealed within the last few weeks. Jaejoong, you are astonishing. You have always had great songwriting and singing ability, and there are many favorites of mine among the songs you have produced and co-produced over the last nine years. Yet, I must express my delight in listening to this new mini-album, “Mine’. Every since the first time that I heard MAZE and watched you so joyously absorbed in the performance of this song–I have wanted to have a soft rock album featuring your voice. You do well in this genre– I believe that you should explore many genres. You have a voice that is distinctive and unique–there are few like it in the world. You can sing mellow ballads that help me to relax and emote; then belt out rock ballads that encourage me to dance. All of these songs and approaches are you, but I can hear more than this in your future… I am happy that you are free to have a fulfilling future.
Over the years there have been many things that we did not know; things that were part of your everyday existence. If we had been aware we would have prayed even harder because you hurt a lot. I find it incredible that you and your brothers not only survived, but I believe that you grew in many ways because of the adversity. When your back was against the wall you came out fighting–not with fierce weapons meant to harm and cripple, but with a vision and a determination built on genuine talent that was a more formidable weapon. Love conquers all, and that is what you chose to do. I’m not implying that there were not moments of rage and unbelief that these things were happening and still happen, but overall you chose to love.
Love is what has held this fan base together for so many years despite the occasional war. This is family, and families fight more intensely than mere strangers. Adversely, families also love more intensely than mere strangers. That intensity makes me realize, Jaejoong, that you occasionally need a breathing space. Hard work is countered by hard play. However, because I understand your personality type, I realize that you are driven to serve and give, even to the detriment of your own body and spirit. I have lived here for many years but I have now learned to stop occasionally and see to my own needs. I cannot be there for others if I am totally consumed and neither can you. I was happy to read that you take breaks in between projects–this will strengthen you for the next one.
I don’t believe that we are seeing a new you, Jae. I believe that we are finally seeing as much of the real you as you can safely give. I thank you for your honesty and integrity and pray that this will be the best year yet. I believe that you are aware of the great influence and responsibility that you have as a public person and I can envision great things for you in the future. Right now though, I am looking forward to receiving my copy of “Mine’.Ā Ā Ā šĀ Ā

āSunye is truly a blessed person.ā
JYJās Kim Jaejoong showed his envy for Wondergirlsā Sunye, who will be the first idol of their generation to be getting married.
During an interview at the Seoul Sejong-ro Plaza Hotel on the 21st, Kim Jaejoong said, āI use to say in past interviews that I wanted to get married as soon as possible. I guess I was being preposterous. I found that getting married is a really hard thing to do.ā
Born in 1986, Kim Jaejoong will be celebrating his 28th birthday this year. Having made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2004, this year will mark his 10th anniversary as a singer. Kim Jaejoong has basically spent most of his twenties as a celebrity. When we mentioned āloveā during the interview, his serious expression softened and he returned to being a regular guy in his late twenties.
He grumbled, āI heard that Sunye is 24 years old. And getting married this week. While there are some people like me who find it hard to even go out on a date.ā He continued to say, āI think Sunye is truly a blessed person. Itās not easy to find someone you love and want to settle down with at that age.ā
Introducing himself as ālonelyā, he talked about a recent love story he experienced. He said, āIn my latest album, thereās a song called āComfort for Myselfā. The lyrics center around an experience I had. I even prepared a ring for that person, but they left me, without ever getting to see that ring. Does that person knowĀ that I had prepared a ring,ā and his words trailed off at the end.
He looked like he was in deep thought for a moment before he added with a smile, āBut that ring, I got a refund for it. I took it back to the shop the next day and they gave me a refund. It was part of a matching set but I was already wearing mine. So I couldnāt get a refund for that one because I already had it on.ā He continued to joke and say, āSunye will be getting married on the day of my concert. Iām hoping for lots of people to come, but Iām worried that itāll be shadowed by her wedding.ā
However, Kim Jaejoong still dreams that the perfect love will find him one day but he is planning to focus more on seeing his fans than partaking in a relationship with a woman. He has plans for a JYJ album with Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu after his solo activities. And we may see Kim Jaejoong on TV and on the big screen in the near future.

Hello, everyone who loves Cyworld Music, this is Jaejoong. Iāve come to greet you all with my solo mini album. I participated heavily in writing the lyrics for this album and.. I tried to express the emotions I feel at every moment in my songs. My album is one that I have a lot of affection for because I wrote two of the songs.
This is your first musical activity in a while, how do you feel, are you nervous? (Question by Shin * Young)
Yes, since JYJās Korean album release and world tour, Iāve focused on my acting through dramas and movies, so this albumās release is.. um.. yes.. I am nervous but.. itās not a bad feeling, itās more like an excited anticipation. Iām really glad to be greeting you all with music for the first time in a while. This is my first solo album since making my debut, and I filled it with music that I aim to pursue. I think thatās why it feels more special to me.
How did it feel, preparing an album as a solo singer instead of as a member of JYJ? From when did you start planning on going solo? (Question by Kim * Hyung)
Um.. I think there isnāt much of a difference between a JYJ album and a solo album. The beginning process of writing songs and recording them is really fun. If I had to differentiate between the two, I would say that when we make music as JYJ, thereās a certain joy that I feel when we blend our voices together to create harmonies, and each memberās part amplifies that memberās strengths. What made me happy about this latest album was that I was able to fill it with the thoughts and music I had been aiming for. One of the many reasons as to why Iām happy is because Iām able to show people a different side of me.
When I first heard the guide, I thought, āAh, I can take this song and put in my thoughts and feelings.ā I thought it was an intense song that would be great in carrying my message across. I felt an excited anticipation that once we were done arranging and mixing the song, it would become a very sophisticated piece. When I sing this song, I donāt really think about anything specific. I just channel how Iām feeling into the song.
What have you been up to these days? Iām curious as to what youāre doing? (Question by Kim * Il)
Iām been doing very well. 2012 was a very busy year for me. I went on a world tour, filmed a drama, shot a movie and promoted that movie. I was busy up till Winter and right after that, I started working on my album. I received a short break at the end of the year, so I visited the elementary school I used to go to, as well as my childhood hometown. I even went on a trip to Busan with my friends. I work, I take breaks to recharge, and I go on vacation; thatās how Iāve been doing these days. It made working on the songs that much easier and better. I wasnāt confined to a set mold, so my thoughts were able to roam free and countless melody lines were popping into my head. I think thatās why I always work on songs after acting, Ā going on vacation, or going on a tour. They became the drive that kept my album moving forward.
Tell us about your future plans.
I canāt reveal all my plans for the first half of the year yet. Iāve released an album, and Iām planning on holding a very special concert. Iām busy preparing for that concert, and Iām having so much fun with it. Whenever weāre in a meeting, I have so much fun in the preparation process because ideas keep popping up between the personnel and I. The first, second and third part of the concert are being prepared as though they are separate concerts. Because I like talking to the fans and seeing eye to eye with them, the concert will really be āIām giving you all everything I have~ā with a fanmeet, a talk and a mini concert. Iām happy to know that weāll be creating a new kind of concert. Please give it your anticipation. It will be held at the KINTEX on the 26th and 27th.
Songs that have a story behind them for Kim Jaejoong
1) For you ā Lim Jae Beom
Iām planning on holding a mini concert where I sing the songs in my solo mini album as the third part of my concert. This song will be one of the other songs I sing. Itās a song with such great lyrics.
2) Gangnam Style ā Psy
Psy has always had confidence and pride as a singer-songwriter, and in that meaning, we could say that this really is Psyās Gangnam Style. Itās such a fun and charming song that I found myself remixing this song while working on some songs one day. Thatās probably why itās loved by people all over the world, no matter what language they speak.
3) Though I Loved You ā Kim Kwang Seok
My upcoming concert has the title āYour, My and Mineā. We set up an event to fit with the concept that this will be a concert that we create with fans. We decided that I would sing a song that the fans chose at my concert. So this song was chosen. This song also has emotional lyrics that are very charming.
4) Infinite Challengeās āPark Myung Sooās How About It?ā. Grasshopper World
Jae Seok is such an awesome person. He never ceases to surprise me when he gets on stage. JYJās dance team worked with Yoo Jae Seok on his Grasshopper World performance. The melody and lyrics are unique and I was surprised by the quality of the performance. When I appeared on Happy Together, he said to me, āJaejoong, I can recognize your talent as an entertainer.ā Heās a grateful senior who gave me a reason to nurture my dream as an entertainer in the variety sector. I will prove my humor at my concert! ^^
5) Memories of the Wind ā Naul
Itās a song Iāve been listening to a lot these days. I love the melody, his tone, and the lyrics. Itās a song thatās overflowing with charm. And the title is Memories of the Wind.. I think everyone should listen to it when theyāre alone.

A magazine that details the last 1000 days of JYJ will be released in Korea and Japan at the same time.
On the 21st of January, C-JeS Entertainment stated, āThe first edition of āThe JYJā, the interview magazine that commemorates the 1000th day since JYJ was created, will be released simultaneously in Korea and Japan. It contains records of their worldwide English album, their world tours, and their individual activities in musicals and dramas in chronological order.ā
The magazine is set to be more meaningful as JYJ have concluded all legal battles that they had previously been engaged in as they came to an agreement with their former agency SM Entertainment last November and recently won their lawsuit against their Japanese agency AVEX.
A representative of C-JeS stated, āJYJ fought a long legal battle for three years against their unlawful contract. Not only have they won their freedom, but they have also provided their juniors with a better environment to pursue their activities in,ā and āBut because of unseen external forces, JYJās activities have been restricted and JYJ talked about their feelings about this in their interviews as they took the effort to find new challenges to take on instead of giving up or backing down.ā
C-JeSā CEO Baek Chang Joo stated, āFor a long time, we have worked hard to walk down our own path, and we have changed obstacles into opportunities to widen the spectrums for each member, making them leaders of other K-POP stars as they have successfully completed two world tours and made their mark in the drama and musical industries,ā and āWe wanted to make a book that will be dedicated to the fans who have shown their love and support for the members, no matter how hard things got.ā
The magazine āThe JYJā was created through a total of 25 hours of interviews with the members, and will be a total of 139 pages with a special DVD. During their interviews, the members were said to have teared up as they talked about 2009, and all the people who gave them strength during those troubled times.
JYJ stated, āThough there have been hard times in the past 1000 days, we can say that we were truly happy. We worked harder than ever and though there were unexpected obstacles in our way, we were able to grow that much and learn. We wanted to share the story of the past 1000 days that were happy, from the moment we woke up till the moment we fell asleep.ā
JYJās interview magazine āThe JYJ ā First edition, recording 1000 daysā will be released in Korea and Japan in early February and can be bought at the C-JeS store.

Kim Jaejoongās first solo mini album āIā has topped Hanteo Chartsā daily, real-time and weekly charts.
Kim Jaejoongās solo mini album āIā was released on the 17th and has ranked first on Hanteoās daily charts for the past four days till the 20th, and has also topped the real-time and weekly charts. Though Hanteoās weekly charts collects data on a weekly basis and the last week was from the 14th till the 20th, Kim Jaejoong was able to top the charts in a mere four days.
Though each track of āIā fits within the rock genre, Kim Jaejoong has added his own style to them and enhanced their trendiness. Today, the Tokyo District Courts have released their ruling on the 4 counts of lawsuits against the artists JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN, who are exclusive to our companyās wholly owned subsidiary Avex Management Group (AMG) and C-JeS ENTERTAINMENT CO.LTD, as stated below :
1) Tokyo District Courts 2011 No. 17612 Injunction against defamatory actions
2) Tokyo District Courts 2011 No. 20390 Request for compensation against damages
3) Tokyo District Courts 2011 No. 25447 Request for compensation against damages
4) Tokyo District Courts 2011 No. 8301 Request for compensation against damages
As AMG does not agree with the ruling of the court, we have appealed against the rulings to the Tokyo High Courts, and this is what we would like to report.

A representative of JYJās management agency C-JeS Entertainment stated, āAt around 2pm, our Japanese legal representative gave us a short call to inform to us that we won the lawsuit,ā and āThey have stated that they will send us the detailed verdict and content of the lawsuit, so we will wait for that.ā
JYJās fans are already busy sending their congratulations online. The rumor of, āThe Courts made the verdict that Avex must pay JYJ 600 million Yen and can no longer block any future JYJ activities,ā is spreading fast amongst fans. Regarding this, C-JeS stated, āWe canāt confirm anything until we receive the full verdict.ā
JYJ, who had also been locked in a legal battle with SM, signed an exclusive management contract with AVEX in February, 2010 for their Japanese activities. However, AVEX changed their attitudes completely in September, 2010 and conflict emerged between the two sides. AVEX suddenly began taking up an issue with the controversies surrounding JYJās representatives and announced that they would stop all activities. In October, they joined hands with SM Entertainmentās singers such as TVXQ and Super Junior and began supporting their activities.
JYJ and AVEXās legal battle began in the early months of 2011. JYJ planned their own Japanese concert in Saitama, Japan as AVEX was no longer following through with their exclusive contract, but AVEX blocked the concert in a variety of ways.
In April, JYJ filed an activity hindrance prohibition injunction, as well as an exclusive contract invalidity lawsuit, and have been waiting for a verdict.
