[TRANS] 130214 Super Junior & TVXQ Awarded Best Albums Of The Quarter At The “Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards”
Super Junior and TVXQ were awarded “Singer of The Year” awards under the album category for the 3rd and 4th quarter (of last year) respectively during the “2nd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards”, which were held at the Olympic Hall at the Olympic Park in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the evening of 13 Feb.
TVXQ’s “Catch Me” ranked first in the fourth quarter with sales of over 120,000 copies. Changmin was unable to attend the ceremony on this day due to filming for “Moonlight Prince”, and hence only Yunho was in attendance. Yunho said, “Changmin wanted to come, but could not due to his filming so I came alone.” He also expressed his gratitude to officials and staff from the management agency, and said “This award belongs to Cassiopeia.”
Yunho also went onto say, “I think that for a singer, singing and expressing yourself on stage is the answer. Even 10, 20 years from now, we will be singers that are answerable (to everyone) on stage.
The “Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” are based on accurate and objective data obtained from Gaon Chart results (digital music downloads, record sales). The “Singer of the Year” awards this time are awarded to artistes whose record sales ranked number one in each of the respective four quarters from January to December 2012.

[TRANS] 130207 Kim Jaejoong Will Release A Repackage Album On The 26th, “It Will Be A Great Gift”
JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, who has made his transformation into a solo singer, will be releasing his repackage album ‘Y’ on the 26th.
Kim Jaejoong’s first solo mini album ‘I’ has been positively received both domestically and overseas as it topped the weekly, daily and real-time Hanteo charts in only five days since its release, topped album sales charts in Taiwan and Japan, and ranked second on the Billboard World Album Charts.
An album representative stated on the 7th to eNews that, “All 120,000 first edition copies of Kim Jaejoong’s first solo album have been sold out, and the additional 20,000 copies that were printed were also sold out in a week. We are currently going through our second additional printing process. This is a surprising achievement as Kim Jaejoong has not made any broadcasted appearances, and this proves the high quality of Kim Jaejoong’s album, as well as his popularity.”
Kim Jaejoong’s agency C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Kim Jaejoong’s first solo mini album received a lot of love both domestically and overseas, and his repackage album ‘Y’ will be a great gift for people who have been hoping to see a new side of Kim Jaejoong,” and “The repackage album will include the five tracks from his first album, as well as two extra tracks including ‘Only Love’, the unreleased dance track that Kim Jaejoong performed at his KINTEX concert. The album will also include a special edition photo.”
‘Only Love’ was composed by Kim Jaejoong and is a trendy dance track that incorporates dubstep. Kim Jaejoong performed the song for the first time during his ‘Your, My and Mine’ concert on the 26th and 27th of January, and it was positively received by fans for its sophisticated choreography and exciting tempo.
Kim Jaejoong’s repackage album will be released on the 26th and can be pre-ordered both online and offline on the 13th. Kim Jaejoong’s repackage album release will be coupled with the start of his Asia Tour.

[TRANS] 130204 JYJ Are Chosen As The Stars People Want To Give Chocolates To On Valentine’s Day In Japan
‘Ranking princes’ JYJ have been chosen as the artistes Japanese women would most like to give chocolates to on Valentine’s Day.
The Japanese Hallyu site ‘Mpost’ held a survey on the 31st of January labeled ‘Which Hallyu Group would you most like to give Valentine’s Day chocolates to?’ with 1,000 female Hallyu fans between the ages of 10 and 70. Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu’s group JYJ received 71.6% of the votes, topping the ranks with a landslide victory.
In the same survey that enquired about individual artistes, Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun came in at first to third place, proving just how popular JYJ are in Japan.

I admit that I’m a bit behind on my opinion of the new drama “Queen of Ambition” that stars one of my favorite people–Jung Yunho. Yes, this American eo-meo-ni unabashedly proclaims that Yunho is her favorite in this drama. What can I say? Yunho has this boyish charm thing going on that just disarms you from the start. He’s playing sweet naughty, but as this drama progresses I am interested in seeing how Yunho intends to mature the character of Baek Do Hoon, a hockey enthusiast. I guess that could be up to the producer, writer, and director, but it also the responsibility of the actor to convince the viewers that this role is believable. It’s a bit early to say, but I am enjoying Yunho immensely.
The lead female character Joo Da Hae seems a bit stiff, but this is probably deliberate. After all, she has to portray someone who kills and agrees to cover it up to advance her personal career.. She tends to be judgmental, drawing back from Ha Ryu, her lover and the father of her daughter, when she discovers that he has been providing for the family by working as a male prostitute. She had attempted to go this way years before, and Ha Ryu rescued her and has given up everything–his dignity and his body– to put her through college.
My sympathies are with the young lovers because they lack wisdom, and out of this lack arises a murder cover-up and a life of hiding from Joo Da Hae’s step-brother.
There is also another element present in this drama–the older CEO sister of Baek Do Hoon [Yunho]. Hints have been dropped here and there that seem to indicate that Do Hoon is her son, not her younger brother.
BTW, I am happy to see Ha Ryu’s aunt being portrayed by veteran actress Lee II Hwa. She starred with Jung Yunho in “Heading To The Ground”. If I’m in error please correct me. 🙂
I will write again after absorbing a few more episodes. This drama is well written, directed and produced.
Update:
O.K. I just absorbed a few more episodes as I promised and My! My!My!. I’m almost speechless, and, if you have been visiting this blog over time you know that is not my norm. This woman is unbelievable. As long as things are looking up she is right with you. As soon as her little imaginary world starts to topple, she’s ready to ditch you and start clinging to the next available rock. What woman deserts her child like this? The Momma Bear in me is starting to snarl!!! This reminds me of Miss Ripley in some respects because both women are manipulators, but I believe Miss Ripley was less mercenary than Joo Da Hae. They both faced loss early in life, and I sympathize with Joo Da Hae concerning the sexual abuse, but even taking her early childhood into account–there is no justification for the way she treats those who love her. She is a formidable enemy, and she has one many-faceted goal in mind–prestige, money, power, and success. Joo Da Hae is driven by fear–fear of being without provision and without love. Somehow she remains a small girl who wants everyone to take care of her, right or wrong. I cried with Ha Ryu, the most loving, naive man possible, when she told him that she knew what he did at his job. He was suffering all of that degradation just to please and provide for her. She gave him disrespect in return.
Right now, this drama is sizzling on the bar-be. There is a volcano poised to blow at any moment and when it does I guarantee you that Joo Da Hae will be safely conniving to be somewhere else. Let’s see what’s cooking up for next week. In the meantime here are a couple of the Queen of Ambition OST songs to listen to…

[Interview] 130124 JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong is Sad About JYJ’s Inability to Appear on TV
Although its legal proceedings with SM Entertainment have come to a conclusion, JYJ is still unable to appear on TV as singers.
As such, JYJ member Kim Jae Joong recently came to voice his sorrow at being unable to perform on TV.
In a recent interview with enews, Kim Jae Joong said, “It′s not just our problem, but we′re really sorry.”
Kim Jae Joong, Park Yoo Chun and Kim Junsu, who were members of TVXQ (DBSK) at the time, demanded their contract with SM Entertainment be cancelled, filing a lawsuit against the agency in 2009. Their opinion was that their 13-year contract with SM was too long, and that the division of profits were set at the agency′s advantage.
As the court acknowledged that it “approves individual promotions,” the members have continued to promote through dramas, albums and concert tours inside and outside Korea. The group, however, hasn′t been able to appear on music or variety shows. The three main channels defended their avoidance of the group with the assertion that its appearance could have an affect on the court decisions.
The long battle came to an end in December with an agreement between SM and JYJ, but the main channels are still treading carefully around the issue of the group′s televised appearances.
Kim Jae Joong said about the lack of televised promotions, “People around me tell me ′you′re doing great even without television′ or ask ′aren′t you doing okay without it?′ but that′s how it looks when you see things from JYJ′s point of view. Celebrities need to approach their fans through the media, but for us, it′s the fans who have been seeking us and our music.”
He added, “Elementary school students these days don′t know us. Though they do know us, they know us as actors, so that′s saddening. We′ve spent almost four years this way, and we want to repay our fans who have been coming in to visit us.”
In the meantime, Kim Jae Joong released his first solo mini album Mine on January 17. The title song has been received as a revival of traditional rock.
A New Birthday–A New Kim Jaejoong Revealed? by Momma Cha
Truth to tell Jae, this new side of you isn’t so new to some of us. We’ve always known that you possessed a zany sense of humor, and that you have the ability and the inclination to hang off of chandeliers.^^ So, that having been said with extreme love…<3
I usually do a Birthday post with pictures, narrative, and video of Jae that I have enjoyed from the previous year–but this time around I have something to say about the talent of Kim Jaejoong that has been revealed within the last few weeks. Jaejoong, you are astonishing. You have always had great songwriting and singing ability, and there are many favorites of mine among the songs you have produced and co-produced over the last nine years. Yet, I must express my delight in listening to this new mini-album, “Mine’. Every since the first time that I heard MAZE and watched you so joyously absorbed in the performance of this song–I have wanted to have a soft rock album featuring your voice. You do well in this genre– I believe that you should explore many genres. You have a voice that is distinctive and unique–there are few like it in the world. You can sing mellow ballads that help me to relax and emote; then belt out rock ballads that encourage me to dance. All of these songs and approaches are you, but I can hear more than this in your future… I am happy that you are free to have a fulfilling future.
Over the years there have been many things that we did not know; things that were part of your everyday existence. If we had been aware we would have prayed even harder because you hurt a lot. I find it incredible that you and your brothers not only survived, but I believe that you grew in many ways because of the adversity. When your back was against the wall you came out fighting–not with fierce weapons meant to harm and cripple, but with a vision and a determination built on genuine talent that was a more formidable weapon. Love conquers all, and that is what you chose to do. I’m not implying that there were not moments of rage and unbelief that these things were happening and still happen, but overall you chose to love.
Love is what has held this fan base together for so many years despite the occasional war. This is family, and families fight more intensely than mere strangers. Adversely, families also love more intensely than mere strangers. That intensity makes me realize, Jaejoong, that you occasionally need a breathing space. Hard work is countered by hard play. However, because I understand your personality type, I realize that you are driven to serve and give, even to the detriment of your own body and spirit. I have lived here for many years but I have now learned to stop occasionally and see to my own needs. I cannot be there for others if I am totally consumed and neither can you. I was happy to read that you take breaks in between projects–this will strengthen you for the next one.
I don’t believe that we are seeing a new you, Jae. I believe that we are finally seeing as much of the real you as you can safely give. I thank you for your honesty and integrity and pray that this will be the best year yet. I believe that you are aware of the great influence and responsibility that you have as a public person and I can envision great things for you in the future. Right now though, I am looking forward to receiving my copy of “Mine’. 🙂
