Japan to air his latest drama and behind-the-scenes footage in August

JYJ member and actor Park Yoochun will be taking over the Japanese television screen in August. Greeting Japanese viewers with a stream of dramas that he starred in, Park Yoochun will be showcasing his prowess as a Hallyu star.

First, ‘Three Days’ will begin airing every Saturday on local Hallyu channel KNTV from the 9th of August. Japanese cable channel DATV will be airing behind-the-scenes footage from ‘I Miss You’ and ‘Rooftop Prince’ on the 15th and 22nd of August respectively under the theme ‘Falling for Park Yoochun in August’. Footage from ‘Rooftop Prince’ will be in the format of a filming diary, showing detailed moments from Park Yoochun’s acting career during the show. ‘I Miss You’ has already garnered the attention of many for its romance story during its airing in April, and was instrumental in the scheduling of Park Yoochun’s first solo fanmeet on the 9th of July in Yokohama. The event solidified Park Yoochun’s position as a popular actor in Japan.

Meanwhile, Park Yoochun’s current lineup includes his first movie ‘Sea Fog’, as well as JYJ’s ‘The Return of the King’ tour, which will begin at the Jamshil Sports Complex on the 9th of August.

Korean dramas have finally landed in Greece, the wastelands of the Hallyu Wave.

According to the Greek embassy, MBC’s ‘I Miss You’, which features Park Yoochun as the leading role, began airing on ‘TV100′ on the 4th.

TV100 has ‘I Miss You’ scheduled at 10p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, a prime time TV slot, and also airs the episodes for a second time on Sundays at 2p.m. TV100 airs in Thessaloniki, the second largest city of Greece, and attracts 2 million viewers in the central northern districts of Greece.

A representative of the region stated, “Thessaloniki has a lot of JYJ fans, so we believe that Park Yoochun’s drama will be very popular there.”

Kim Byung Yeon of the Korean Embassy of Greece stated, “The hard work and cooperation of Greek broadcasting companies, Korean broadcasting companies, Greece-based Korean companies and the local fanclub since last year have finally seen the fruits of their labor.”

According to China’s The Beijing News, it was decided on the 13th during the 19th Shanghai TV Drama Festival that ‘I Miss You’ will be aired in China. Park Yoochun is set to voice the Chinese dubbing of his own character.

The marketing manager of Haoju Drama Co. Ltd., the company that has bought the broadcasting rights of ‘I Miss You’ in China, stated, “The specifics of the dubbing project is still under advisement,” and “Park Yoochun has already begun studying Chinese.”

The Chinese version of ‘I Miss You’ plans to capture the hearts of Chinese viewers as it will also include scenes that were not aired in Korea. A specific broadcasting company and time slot have not been confirmed as of yet.

Hopefully it will only be a matter of time before JYJ member Yoochun will be seen on TV screens across America and Europe.

The idol starred in the hit Korean TV drama I Miss You late last year and due to an overwhelming fan response, officials from the MBC show are currently in talks to promote the program in both the US and Europe.

I Miss You aired on MBC last November and follows the story of two young lovers who were tragically separated and meet again as adults. It also stars Yun Eun Hye and Yoo Seung Ho.

The drama is currently being shown in Japan on the DATV network and will begin in Hong Kong later this spring. I Miss You is expected to begin airing in China and the US sometime in June or July according to producers. After settling on details for those airings, focus will shift toward the European market, said an official for the show.

The Japanese rebroadcast has, so far, been wildly successful and has very good ratings overall.

Yoochun and his group JYJ have an enormous fan following across the world. The K-Pop group just finished up a series of three sold-out Dome concerts in Tokyo and are moving on to continue their international promotions.

K-dramas have been offering music fans a chance to see their favorite stars in a new and exciting way, off the stage and on the screen. Many idols have attracted thousands of more fans through their different acting pursuits and the members of JYJ are no different.

There is still no confirmation about the logistics of the American broadcast of the romantic drama, but the folks at MBC seem to feel incredibly confident that with Yoochun and JYJ’s global presence and popularity, I Miss You will be equally successful in other parts of the world.

According to C-Jes Entertainment, “On 24 Feb, Yoochun will be appearing in Hunan TV’s special programme “Yuan Hsiao* Broadcast” (*T/N: Lantern Festival), which has the highest viewership ratings among the Lunar New Year special programmes. He will be the only artiste from Korea.”

Hunan TV’s “Yuan Hsiao Programme” is a special broadcast produced by the team behind “Happy Camp”, which has maintained the first place in viewership ratings for 15 years. Yoochun is the only Korean artiste to be invited this time.

Hunan TV representatives said, “With the dramas “Rooftop Prince” and “I Miss You”, Yoochun’s popularity in China is extremely high. In order to accommodate Yoochun’s busy schedule, we plan to arrange for a charter flight. Even the Chinese artistes have been expressing strong support through the SNS sites, and the response has been very good. Yoochun thanked the fans who have been supporting him for the past 10 years since his debut, and also spoke freely about the dramas that he has acted in over the past 3 years, going into details about his two popular pieces from 2012, the dramas “Rooftop Prince” and “I Miss You.”

Park Yoochun made his debut in 2003 and became popular as a member of TVXQ, and started activities as part of the group JYJ in 2010. In the same year, he made his official entrance into the Korean drama industry playing a lead role in the drama “SungKyunKwan Scandal”, then participated in “Miss Ripley” in 2011. In previous interviews, Park Yoochun had said that he fell in love with the drama “Rooftop Prince,” and he explained this time that it was because everyone had gotten along really well on set and it felt really good. As for the current drama “I Miss You” which is still being broadcast, Park Yoochun said that even though many people object to this, he still hopes for a tragic ending, because he feels that only Han Jung Woo’s death can the bring the story to a close. With regards to the character of Han Jung Woo, Park Yoochun said that he envies Jung Woo, because Jung Woo is a normal person, who is very humane, occasionally brash, occasionally childish. As for the kiss scenes which everyone was concerned with, Park Yoochun said that the feeling of the scene that was aired is usually different from when it was shot, but in both dramas, but as he got along well with both female co-stars Han Ji Min and Yoon Eun Hye, shooting the kiss scenes were easy. He also said that the kiss in episode 18 of “I Miss You” is the first time he was kissing and smiling at the same time, as he was always crying in previous kiss scenes.

The staff of MBC’s ‘I Miss You’ stated on the 8th of January that, “We will be extending ‘I Miss You’ by one episode and will provide viewers with a well-made drama till the very end.”

This means that ‘Level 7 Civil Servant’, the follow-up drama of ‘I Miss You’ will begin airing on the 23rd of January.

Meanwhile, the episode of MBC’s ‘I Miss You’ that aired on the 3rd of January showed Kang Hyung Jun (Yoo Seung Ho) placing the blame of a murder on Lee Soo Yeon (Yoon Eun Hye) to punish her for not loving him. Many are curious to see what Han Jung Woo (Park Yoochun), who has always stayed by Lee Soo Yeon’s side, will do. The next episode will air on the 9th of January at 9:55pm.

Yoochun’s I Miss You is Becoming Climatic…

It’s been a while since I wrote about Yoochun’s drama, “I Miss You”. There have been reasons–the predominate one being finding it hard to access with subs. Perhaps I am not the best at surfing for these things but all that put aside…

  I am totally in love with the characters of both Jung Woo and Su Yeon in this love-struck tragedy that has so few comedic elements in it that it’s claim to comedy is almost nil.  Yes, there are some cute personal moments between Jung Woo and his “girlfriend” and “wife”, however, this drama is intense with betrayals, pain, and loss of such magnitude as to make you cry along with the main characters. I salute Yoochun’s acting in this role. He manages to make us cry, laugh, exclaim over his sweetness, and have a desire to touch the vulnerable cheek he presents so well. Yet he also presents a tougher side tempered with mercy, and the attitude of a gentleman when needed. To be honest, this drama goes so emotionally deep that you are left speechless at times.

     All of the characters are well-portrayed with Harry running an absolute third in the lineup but I believe his acting is truly top-notch as well. Su Yeon has just the right amount of angst and vulnerability to draw her into your heart. The support cast of seasoned actors is superb.

      I am looking forward to the ending of this drama as a kind of relief. It has taken me through many emotional changes and where I stand right now is hoping for some happiness for our young lovers. I believe that it is the option of the writer to end this tragically or with hope. We wait to see which turn of events Jung Woo and Su Yeon will experience at the conclusion of this work. Yoochun, I applaud you all.
