[TRANS] 130405 In Response To SBS’ ‘JYJ Concert Report’, Netizens Say, “Don’t Generalize Them As A Part Of Hallyu”

On the 4th, SBS reported that JYJ sold out all 150,000 seats of their Tokyo Dome performances. In response to this, netizens criticized, “Those aren’t Hallyu fans, those are JYJ fans,” and “Stop generalizing JYJ’s achievements as those of the Hallyu Wave.”

JYJ held their ‘The Return of the JYJ in Tokyo’ concert from the 2nd till the 4th at Tokyo Dome. Reporting their concert, SBS stated, “With the relationship between Korea and Japan freezing up and the Hallyu Wave’s popularity dwindling in Japan, it seems as though things are getting better.” Visiting a Korea Town in Japan, the SBS reporter stated, “With a continuous string of large-scale concerts by Hallyu stars in Japan, many are curious to see if the dying popularity of the Hallyu Wave will be revived this year.”

Netizens threw sharp criticisms at SBS’ report of the concert.

One netizen (soce****) stated, “There exist Hallyu singers who can’t appear on Korean TV? And they have the nerve to slide in news about SM Town, which is part of the entertainment agency that’s stopping JYJ from performing in Korea, into news about JYJ’s concert? How underhanded. Those people aren’t Hallyu fans, they’re people who have waited for JYJ for three years. Korean broadcasting companies do all they can to stop JYJ from appearing on Korean television but once they do something amazing, they make it sound like their achievements were because of Hallyu. How disgusting.”

Other comments included, “I know for a fact that large-scale entertainment agencies have held concerts across the world using our tax money and exaggerated their successes to fill their pockets with even more money. It’s great that Hallyu is improving Korea’s image in the world, but it sickens me to see such acts by broadcasting companies who seal dirty deals with an entertainment agency that’s tying JYJ down and blocking their names from getting out… This isn’t the first time that JYJ’s achievements have been over generalized to that of K-pop as a whole.” (Daechae****)

More criticisms followed stating, “Though I can understand the broadcasting company’s desire to revive the dying popularity of the Hallyu Wave, shouldn’t it also focus on relaying news accurately? They should be focusing on how JYJ have survived and are still so popular when they haven’t been able to sing a single note on TV in many years whereas the Hallyu Wave, which was backed heavily by the government, is slowly fading away.” (soce****)

Since they beginning of their conflicts with former agency SM Entertainment, and their unilateral contract suspension by AVEX in 2010, JYJ have not been able to appear on TV or release albums through regular procedures. In November of 2012, JYJ ended their legal battle with SM Entertainment with a settlement, and won their lawsuit against AVEX in January of this year.

During a press conference on the 4th, JYJ stated, “The meaning of the first time we stood on this stage (Tokyo Dome) was ‘a new beginning’. We could have never guessed that it would be our last Japanese performance,” and “We were frustrated about not being able to perform or appear on TV, both our Korean and Japanese activities were completely blocked off.”

However, they added, “But, it was a time for us to grow and mature as people and artistes. We’re grateful for every little thing that has happened,” and “Now, even just having our voices on the radio makes us happy. We would like for this concert to be a new beginning, rather than an end.”

They continued to state, “Just because our legal issues have been resolved, doesn’t mean that the obstacles around us will go away,” and “We know that the external pressure around us might intensify. Nothing is going as we had planned. But we will do our best, however small the tasks that we’re given are.”

Meanwhile, domestic fans cheered JYJ on as they successfully completed all three of their Tokyo Dome concerts. Netizens left comments such as, “The three of you really are the representatives of Hallyu! You’re amazing! I can’t wait to see what you do next! Keep going!” (spdd****), “Please perform in Korea~~” (bear****) and “I was sad to see the Hallyu Wave faltering because of the Dokdo issue, but the explosive response JYJ received in Japan shows how strong Hallyu still is. I’m proud to be Korean. Great job, JYJ~” (ldwc****)

[TRANS] 130116 Jung Yunho Receives Praise For His First Appearance In ‘Queen Of Ambition’ And Proves His Potential

[TRANS] 130116 Jung Yunho Receives Praise For His First Appearance In ‘Queen Of Ambition’ And Proves His Potential

TVXQ’s Jung Yunho received positive reviews for his first appearance in the SBS drama ‘Queen of Ambition’.

Jung Yunho made his latest appearance, not on stage, but as Baekhak Group’s next-in-line chaebol Baek Do Hoon in SBS’ new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Queen of Ambition’ on the 15th. This will be his first regular appearance in a drama in approximately four years since the 2009 MBC drama ‘Heading to the Ground’.

Baek Do Hoon didn’t seem so different from the other chaebols we’ve seen in other dramas in the past. He is a college student who is also an ice hockey player for his school’s team and has no interest in running the company. After a fateful meeting with the female lead Da Hae (Soo Ae), a romance between the two was foretold as the typical ‘impossible love’ between a rich man and a poor woman was drawn out.

However, Jung Yunho molded himself into Baek Do Hoon’s character with his own unique charm and is planning to grab the hearts of female viewers. his appearance in an ice hockey player’s uniform matched with his boyish looks to give him a daring and masculine image.

The considerate manner in which he acted around the woman of his interest made Jung Yunho’s character shine brighter. In the teaser video for the following episode, Baek Do Hoon was seen asking Da Hae, “Do you have a boyfriend?” and beginning his advances on her.

The viewers’ reaction to Jung Yunho’s first appearance wasn’t negative. Most of the opinions included, “His acting has improved a lot compared to the what it was before”, “Though he’s still awkward at times, I can’t wait to see what Baek Do Hoon will be like,” and “Baek Do Hoon’s appearance helps the fast pace of the storyline.”

The acting activities of idol stars hasn’t always been successful. This is because it can be a ‘dangerous choice’ to appear in a drama based on a pervious image and charm alone, without much preparation or experience though their acting skills may be lacking as a singer.

Amidst the different opinions that surround acting idol stars, there are some who have successfully shown good results within their acting careers. In the case of JYJ’s Park Yoochun, he has appeared in both modern-day and historical dramas such as MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley’ and SBS’ ‘Rooftop Prince’, and has been improving his skills as an actor through various dramas, receiving high praise from viewers.

Jung Yunho has also put much consideration in his decision to return to acting. During the ‘Queen of Ambition’ press conference on the 9th, he stated, “I hope this drama becomes a stepping stone that helps me become more successful as an actor,” and “I’ve worked on the parts I was lacking in, and I hope to show improvement.”

Regarding this, a representative of SM Entertainment stated, “Jung Yunho does have plans made as a singer, but he is working hard to focus his efforts on his acting for now.”

Though he is one of the most popular idol stars in Korea as a member of TVXQ,  the title of an ‘actor’ is still unfamiliar to Jung Yunho. But he has the potential to succeed. With ‘Heading to the Ground’ ending with more disappointment than satisfaction, many are curious to see what kind of reviews Jung Yunho will receive as an actor in his second drama ‘Queen of Ambition’

[Trans] 130109 Jung Yunho Says, “I’m Not Worried About Being Compared To Choi Siwon From ‘King Of Dramas’

Jung Yunho talked about Choi Siwon, who appeared in ‘King of Dramas’, the drama that aired before ‘Queen of Ambition’.

During the press conference of SBS’ Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Queen of Ambition’ on the 9th, Jung Yunho was asked whether he was worried about being compared to Choi Siwon, a label mate of Jung Yunho who received high praise for his comedic acting in ‘King of Dramas’.

Jung Yunho stated, “I watched ‘King of Dramas’. I felt like he got the essence of his character really well so we met up and talked about it,” and “This will be the first time in a while that I appear on TV as an actor. The seniors I’m working with make the whole process enjoyable instead of stressful and I believe it’s right for me to just focus on showing an improvement every time I act.”

Meanwhile, ‘Queen of Ambition’ is a drama that depicts the love, betrayal and greed of a man who sacrifices everything for the woman he loves, who is trying to escape poverty and become the First Lady. The drama stars Kwon Sang Woo, Soo Ae, Jung Yunho (U-Know Yunho), Kim Sung Ryeong and Go Joon Hee. It will begin airing on the 14th of January.

[TRANS] 121128 Will The Doors Of Broadcasting Companies Open For JYJ? “Discussions Are Needed”

[TRANS] 121128 Will The Doors Of Broadcasting Companies Open For JYJ? “Discussions Are Needed”

Will the doors of broadcasting companies open for JYJ, who have been locked in a legal battle with their former agency SM Entertainment?

Following the announcement on the 28th that SM Entertainment and JYJ reached an agreement after three years locked in a legal battle, many are curious to see if this will lead to an appearance in broadcasted TV shows by JYJ.

According to legal circles, SM and the three members of JYJ reached an agreement that all contracts signed by the two parties had effectively ended on the 31st of July, 2009. All relevant lawsuits were to be dropped, and neither party would interfere with the opposite party’s future activities.

With the end of the lawsuit, new possibilities have opened up for the three members of JYJ in the entertainment industry. When JYJ began their individual activities, they weren’t able to appear on TV shows run by the three main broadcasting companies due to their lawsuit with SM. Though Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong have been making appearances on TV through dramas, they have not been able to appear on music programs or awards shows since releasing their albums.

For example, in May of 2011, KBS explained the reason why JYJ were not to appear on variety shows such as ‘Music Bank’ when they stated, “JYJ’s lawsuit has not ended with their former agency. It is normal for us to wait and refrain from casting celebrities who are locked in legal battles, as their appearance on TV shows may influence the results of their lawsuits.”

Now that an agreement has ended the lawsuit, the spotlight has shifted to the three main broadcasting companies. Many are curious to see if the end of the lawsuit that has freed JYJ from restrictions will give them the chance to appear on music programs or variety shows.

Regarding this, Jeon Jin Guk, the director of KBS’ variety sector, stated in a phone conversation with OSEN that, “We heard the news through an article. I believe the details of our stance on the issue will be solidified through further discussion,” and “I don’t believe there will be any reason for us to refrain from allowing JYJ to appear on KBS TV shows if their lawsuit has come to a complete end, as that was the reason for our actions.”

MBC’s Won Mak Sik stated, “Though the lawsuit between the two parties has ended, we believe it is a problem that requires time to observe the situation.” Another representative of MBC’s variety sector explained, “We have not yet discussed the possibilities of JYJ appearing on music programs and variety shows,” and “This is an issue that must be considered by the entire variety sector.”

PD Park Seung Min of SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ gave a short statement of, “This is an issue for the entire variety sector to discuss. I can’t say much because there hasn’t been any discussion as of now.”

[News] 121108 Film Jackal is Coming, Starring JYJ’s JaeJoong, is Sold To Six Countries

Film Jackal is Coming has recently been sold to six countries, including Japan and Thailand.

On November 8, Lotte Entertainment reported that film Jackal is Coming has been sold to Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei before its release in Korea.

The biggest reason for the overseas sales of the film is that it stars JYJ’s Jae Joong, who is popular in Asia, South America, and Europe, and Song Ji Hyo, who is popular for her regular appearance on SBS TV’s Running Man.

The Japanese distribution company of the film says, “Jae Joong is one of the most popular Korean singers in Japan. We’re expecting that the film will become a box office hit because he’s a good actor and he appears as a top celebrity in the film.”

Jackal is Coming is a film about things happening after legendary killer Bong Min Jung (played by Song Ji Hyo) receives a request to kill top celebrity Choi Hyun (played by Jae Joong). It will be released on November 15.

Editor’s Note: Momma Cha’s Thoughts On The Lack of TV Broadcasting For Junsu thus JYJ

First of all, assuming that the information in the article posted by dongbangdata.net from Twitlonger is true, this is not the first time that this type of manipulation and disrespect has occurred. When JYJ were the spokesmen for the Seven Wonders of The World campaign, they were used and then “fired” from the job. There are many more examples of the arm of the media deciding to ignore the court decisions that dictate non-interference in JYJ’s activities.

Technically, JYJ was not performing, Xia was performing, and as an individual he is not the sum total of JYJ. This was just another blatant slap that was designed to subdue the rebels.

I truly believe that the reason why SM & Co. cannot seem to come to agreement with JYJ is based on the gameplan of: as long as the court case is undecided we can have a field day blocking every attempt by JYJ as a group or as individuals to perform on TV. What they do not realize is that all their attempts to keep JYJ down only furthers the cause. JYJ fans are unique. Even those of us who are considered OneTrue5’ers are as sincere and passionate about JYJ as we are about TVXQ. How is that possible? The love that was and still is for DBSK simply extends beyond the boundaries of law suits and separate companies because the original love is for five individuals that comprised DBSK. It’s that simple. You do not ask a mother to separate her five children into camps of 3 and 2 in her heart just because they may be quarreling. But…Back to Task.

This time the pain is Junsu’s which means that he does not have the option of feeling as if the attack is targeting Jaejoong or Yoochun as JYJ was not performing. That means that his pain is personal. The industry obviously cannot separate the three as opposed to the one, so here we are.. Same old, same old…

Junsu, you were wronged today as you have been many times before. Blatantly in fact.  Thank you for being gracious and stating your love, concern, and desires, and know that we are there for you whether in Korea or beyond. As quoted in DongBangData.net’s article “My heart aches for him. It really does. JYJ are human beings too. They have emotions, they hurt, they cry. SBS, KBS, MBC… stop. Haven’t you done enough damage to their poor, wounded souls? And our hearts too? We’re not indestructible.”

Our hearts bleed easily because true lovers love deeply and what hurts those we love hurts us. Chin Up, Lovie. You will always have a place in this mother’s heart.

[TRANS] The Injustice that Happened to Junsu today 🙁

I’m gathering this information off of what people are saying in Yuaerubi.

Basically, Junsu had his first official gig as a solo artiste at the 32nd Sports Day for the Handicapped today. They printed his name 시아준수 on the tickets and promoted that he would be performing there.

SBS was covering all the performances and right before ZE:A came on, they introduced the group as the last act and when they were done, they took down all the cameras and packed them away.

After that, Kim Chang Ryeol, one of the MCs for the night, came back on and introduced Junsu as the actual last act of the night. By then, the cameras had already stopped rolling and SBS was done airing the event.

Junsu apparently came on stage with a big smile and said he was so grateful to have been invited to such a wonderful event. He said it was his first official gig as a solo artiste and he was so happy to be there. He performed with a big smile on his face and was very energetic.

Fans said that most of the fans there were sobbing because they thought it totally unfair that Junsu had basically been used to bring more people to the event, and then denied the airtime he deserves.
