Occasionally I take the time to reflect upon the seasons and the many different changes they put you through. Winter is, by it’s very nature, one of the most extreme of the seasons. Winter 2012 through to March 2013 here in the US of A’s mid west was mild, although it snowed intermittently through to June. This was the first spring that my petunia’s came back.
Au Contraire for winter of 2013 through to spring 2014. Cold, and promising to be anything but mild, it has snowed consistently since early December with no let up in sight. We definitely had a white Christmas this year. Along with that beautiful white snow came the cold and ice–wet and penetrating. Christmas shopping was a painful affair. The wind cut through every layer of clothing, and, despite the cold, people thronged everywhere; making an uncomfortable situation even more uncomfortable.
Now don’t get me wrong, I truly love winter. To be honest, I truly love people. 🙂 The winter skies are the most bright and clear, and stars shine like diamonds. Also, fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful and unique examples of GOD’s creation. Sadly, it gets dirty fast. Driving mile after mile with dirty snow piled up beside the road can get depressing. Nothing white stays white for long.
Snow white beauty piles up inside my driveway causing my car to bog down while going out on an important mission. Why haven’t I plowed the driveway? Believe me, I have. Those 35 mph winds just blew the snow back into the driveway. Let’s not mention the walkway. After shoveling and breaking up ice for hours, the wind delights in re-covering the walkway as well. So, I guess you could say that all that effort is in vain, right? Why go through the snow, ice, and cold if you don’t have to.
Well…after analyzing some possible choices–sunny Florida, Arizona, California, and other southern and southwestern states, perhaps even Australia (summer in January) I’ve come to the conclusion that every locale has it’s own drawbacks. I may be shoveling snow like a pro here–but someone else may be experiencing hurricanes or tornadoes. Others may be dealing with volcanoes, or even earthquakes. This year, the whole country is experiencing unseasonal cold weather. Did I forget to mention the -60 wind chills? Brrrrrrrrrrrr.
I long for the spring, which has allergies and grass-cutting waiting for me, but also the most beautiful, gentle breezes. My daffodils and crocuses herald the new season, and inspire me to begin my gardening. I look forward to beautiful roses, pots of begonia and impatiens. Every spring I bring out my cacti, and they grow and bloom until Fall. I begin in earnest on my vegetable garden which also keeps me busy through Fall. I find it fun and invigorating.
But…back to winter. After all this complaining, I guess I really do like winter. Whether winter likes me is the problem. 🙂 I am praying that everyone caught in the throes of Old Man Winter will come out hale and hearty this spring.

(Junsu, 10:12am KST, Twitter) Let’s go on a trip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~hehehehehe pic.twitter.com/ntARhyjxP4
(Junsu, 10:36am KST, Twitter) They keep adding syrup (even if I don’t want any) whenever I order an Americano..ㅜ pic.twitter.com/BMfGTUGB2Y
(Junsu, 10:58am KST, Twitter) The older I get.. the more I hate sweet things. I can enjoy one or two pieces of chocolate.. Cream puffs, sweet chips, sweet candy, sweet coffee etc.. If it’s sweet, it isn’t tasty.. I ordered something called a ‘Red Rise’ just now.. and it tastes like coconut and chocolate, the kind of thing you shouldn’t expect a meal to taste like.. I can’t take this
(Junsu, 11:09am KST, Twitter) At this moment, I’m already.. craving spicy sausage stew, kimchi stew and bean paste stew. But luckily.. what’s getting me through this is that our wonderful Hansol, packed my biggest bag full of things like Jonggatjib (T/N: It’s the most popular kimchi brand in Korea) kimchi, ramen and Haetban (T/N: The most popular brand of precooked instant rice). He says that when he put the suitcase on the counter and asked the people at the supermarket to pack all the food in there, they asked him.. are you immigrating? lol
(Junsu, 11:21am KST, Twitter) I used to drink coffee mixes.. but once you get used to the taste of Americano.. you start hating it when they add other things into your coffee. Coffee is meant to be enjoyed with the original scent of the coffee beans. People tell me that I shouldn’t drink too much coffee but.. these scientists in England, I think? They said that a person who drinks more than three cups of coffee a day
(Junsu, 11:24am KST, Twitter) actually live longer on average.. than people who don’t.. They say that the reason there’s so much talk about whether coffee is good or bad for you is because there are over 1,000 components in coffee.. Of course, some of them are good for you and some of them are not.. but if drinking coffee means I get to live longer.. wouldn’t you say that’s a good thing..? haha
(Junsu, 11:25am KST, Twitter) I can proudly say that.. I don’t touch nicotine, tar or alcohol.. but I will stick with caffeine.. haha
(Junsu, 07:29pm KST, Twitter) I have received the pictures of children affected by the Japan Tohoku Earthquake who received Christmas presents through “Habitat Santa”, organised by Jedusbody and Mari Christie, Goodwill Ambassador for UN Habitat. Seeing everyone happy makes me happy as well. I will continue to donate.

The line performance of TVXQ’s newest song ‘Something’ has become a hit.
‘Something’, the title track of TVXQ’s new album ‘TENSE’, is a swing jazz piece. The combination of the lively music and TVXQ’s dynamic performance makes each performance look like a scene from a musical, earning much love from TVXQ’s fans.
What’s drawing the attention of many is TVXQ’s ‘line performance’, a dance that has never been done before in Korea, which utilizes microphones and thick cords of rope to imitate string plucking, a boxing ring, standing microphones and a marionette doll. It has been said that TVXQ have put in a lot of hard work and effort into their rehearsals to make sure that they could pull off such difficult choreography.
The sophisticated yet energetic choreography, which includes a rhythmic and stealthy tiptoe dance and powerful solo dance breaks, as well as TVXQ’s coordination with their backup dancers makes the dance a sight to behold. Many have praised TVXQ’s comeback performance for being a solid and unique performance, that goes beyond normal choreography and focus on the three-dimensional aspects of dance.
The choreography of ‘Something’ was created by world-renowned choreography Tony Testa, and was completed with the help of SM’s performance director Hwang Sang Hoon. Tony Testa has already worked with TVXQ before on their last song ‘Catch Me’, and his work has been praised for emphasizing TVXQ’s best assets as performers.
Meanwhile, TVXQ will be continuing their promotional activities on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’ on the 9th, KBS’ ‘Music Bank’ on the 10th, MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’ on the 11th and SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ on the 12th.

JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) have teamed up with famous photographers to release the third edition of their ‘THE JYJ’ magazine.
C-JeS Entertainment stated, “In February, the third edition of ‘THE JYJ’ will be released in Korea and Japan simultaneously,” and “Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu have each teamed up with a famous photographer to create a special collaboration project for their upcoming album.”
They continued to state, “We’ve decided to release a magazine for each member in order to capture each member’s solo activities of movies, concerts and tours. The members teamed up with photographers Cho Sun Hee, Mok Najung and Kim Young Joon, and shared many stories with them to capture their natural selves in the photos.”
JYJ said, “We took our time to converse with our photographers to prepare for our photoshoots, so we were able to let ourselves go during the process. This is the first time that we’ve enjoyed taking photos like this. It felt like we were creating physical proof of our twenties that we could look back on later. Some of the pictures surprised us because they showed sides of us we’d never seen before.”
The upcoming edition will feature special photo spread locations. Kim Jaejoong’s photographer followed him on the Japanese leg of his tour, while Park Yoochun’s photographer followed him around Busan while he filmed ‘Sea Fog’. Kim Junsu took many of his photos during his musical ‘December’.”
‘THE JYJ’ has garnered great popularity with its first two editions, the first edition containing 25 hours’ worth of interviews and the second edition holding the theme of friendship. The third edition will be released in Korea and Japan, and is available at the C-JeS online store.

JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong is set to release a repackaged version of his first solo album.
C-JES Entertainment said, “Kim Jae Joong will be releasing his repackaged album on January 20th, after making a successful transformation as a rock singer through his first solo album. His repackaged album will include a new song as well as a remake of the Japanese song ‘Makeup’ which earned much popularity when he performed it during his Asia tour.”
The repackaged album theme is set as ‘make-up removal’ as C-JES revealed, “The two new songs are meant to convey the painful feelings that one has when he/she wants to forget their loved one. We got the inspiration from ‘Makeup’ and decided to name it as ‘make-up removal’. From the songs, fans can listen to the various styles of conflicting emotions that Jae Joong’s voice will bring out.”
The album will also include unreleased footage from the music video of ‘Just Another Girl’ as well as footage of the music video production shoots
C-JES said, “Jae Joong has already completed the recording of the new songs for the album. The new songs are pop ballads that’s really suitable for the winter season, and the lyrics were penned by Jae Joong himself. ‘Makeup’ is a remake of a Japanese song of the same name, with Jae Joong writing the new lyrics. Jae Joong’s sensual vocals and manner of singing it, will definitely be a surprise to fans when they listen to it.”
Jae Joong has thus far enjoyed much success in his solo activities, and he was 4th in the ‘2013 Singer Award’ chart that was tabulated by Hanteo, and the only soloist that made it to the top 5.
Jae Joong released his first mini album ‘I’ in January 2013, before following up in October with the release of his 1st full-length album ‘WWW: Who, When, Why’. The album soon shot up music charts in Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong, as well as Japan’s Tower Record. It was also ranked 4th on Japan’s Oricon Weekly chart as well as becoming the most popular K-POP song on China’s CCTV3 for three consecutive weeks. The album also topped Hanteo real-time, daily, and week charts, and was first on a Synnara Record poll as the most likely to win at the year-end music festivals.
Meanwhile, Jae Joong will continue with his nation-wide tour in Gwangju on January 11th.
